"Apartments Esmeralda review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from our favourite holiday destination. Th only complaint was it drizzled a couple of days something weve never seen before in the last six years. We had a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the Esmeralda they had totally refurbished the rooms ( there was nothing wrong with them previously?) Everything was new, bed, furniture, bath, kitchen area. And by the time we return in September Dimitris informs us there will be Sky tv and internet connections in each room. Another new item was the games console in the pool bar I couldn't get my partner off it the kids had no chance of getting on!! Tommies Bar was just as busy as usual and we met all our old friends including the Greek ones, even the shopkeepers come out and wave to us as go past I felt like a star!!
Cant wait to go back in Sept counting the days off.

This was our second time in Greece and I was told that we were going to an authentic Greek village town. NOT NOT NOT!
Try the worst place in your own city and double it. This place is awful and I mean AWFUL!!!
the Apartments are tiny, few facilities and if you dont eat from the place you are in the bad books from the start. THEY TRY TO CON YOU OUT OF EVERYTHING!!!
they charge for sun loungers. the meals are bad and the rooms are tiny. Oh and the showers are great if you like them cold!!!
Kremasti itself has one tiny bar and yes thats it. If you like planes then you have the airport right next to you incase you need the wake up call.
PS dont be fooled by the nice pic in the brochure this place is sht and so so is the Esmerelda. This was the worst week I have ever had on holiday.
Trust me. This is no joke.

Excellent apartments, run by a lovely welcoming family. Rooms cleaned on a regular basis throughout our 2 week stay and rooms were always immaculate. Can recommend Romeo's for a meal and definately TOMMIES bar for a great night. Kremasti is a lovely place and will definately be going back more than likely in the Esmeralda.

We booked the week as a last minute deal and were a bit worried after we had booked reading some of the previous reviews on this site. However we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the apartments. Dimitri was very pleasant and happy to help. As we arrived about 9pm we didn't get a proper chance to look around until the next day but we were happy with the village and the selection of places to eat and drink. It is not the place to go if you want a lively holiday and lots of clubs and loud bars however if you like nice food and quiet drinks in the evening you will be more than happy here.
The Food at the apartments themselves was the best we tried in Kremasti made by Dimitri's mother. The pool and bar area were always immacuately clean as was the apartment itself. There was none of the usual problems getting a sun bed by the pool and although the hotel is next to a busy road this did not bother us and nor did the aircraft noise which is about 4-6 planes an hour during the busier times of the day.
The apartments are one of only 3 in the town with their own pool and this was great as the beach was not that nice a bit stoney and the water was rough.
If you are not staying at Esmeralda you can also use their pool if you are drinking from the bar.
All in all it was a nice cheap holiday which we thouroughly enjoyed.

When we arrived in Rhodes and we were kept waiting at the coach at the airport for over 2 hours because my daughter and myself were the only ones to arrive off the Newcastle flight, we had to wait for 2 more flights to arrive before they would take us to our apartment which was 2 minutes away, the first drop off. We could have walked it in 10 minutes if we had known where it was!
On arriving at the apartment, there were only two beds (I had paid a suppliment for a three bed appartment). When I asked the rep. for Libra that day, he said to see the son Dimitri, which I did, and was told that they could fit in a camp bed if required. What a rip off!!
The beds and seats in the apartment were most uncomfortable (I had a bad back for the 2 weeks we were there), the shower leaves a lot to be desired.
The family who runs the Esmeralda apartments do not speak English, except for the son Dimitri. They didnt even know what a cheeseburger was! They were not very friendly at all.I like a quite holiday but this place is so quiet (except for the noise from the traffic and the aeroplanes)it dead!
If you want a holiday that is quiet but want at least a little night life, Don't stay in Kramasti.
On leaving day, we were to be picked up at 3.30AM, and we found that we had to pay an extra days rent for 3 hours stay in the apartment!

Once again I feel I have to write to thank Dimitre his Mother and Father and Brother Marco for the excellent way which we were treated during our stay at the Esmeralda, The place is as immaculate as ever the meals excellent and the accommodation as clean as you would get anywhere. Other people have written condemning the apartments finding cockroaches etc and getting bad food. I feel this is totally unfair and have seen nothing in all the years I have been going to Kremasti that would put me off going there. We go to Kremasti for relaxation among the Lovely Greek people who have been nothing but friendly in all this time.
So thankyou Dimitre and family once again for the lovely time

Esmerelda Apartments where a delight during our weeks stay. The staff where welcoming, food excellent, rooms spotless and pool clean and safe.
Yes it is located on a main road, and there is a lot of traffic noise, and yes it is on the airport flight path, but once your patio door is closed at night (aircon is a god send) you are not really disrurbed. And once you are sat by the pool reading a good book you soon forget about the traffic passing past and above.
Its a short walk to the town centre, and only 10 mins to the beach. There are many good restuarants and some shops, but not much to keep young kids busy.
The taxi fare to beautiful Rhodes Old Town in only 9 euros, and well worth the trip.
We will return !!!
Many thanks to Dimitri and family

I felt I had to write after reading such awful reviews of the Esmeralda. My partner and myself have stayed there about five times now, twice in 2004. We first used the appartments about three years ago and were pleasantly surprised, I am disabled so a ground floor room is essential to me, when we arrived we found ourselves on the first floor but Dimitris soon changed our room and whilst we were there I was unwell and the family couldnt do enough for me.
The food is excellant in fact we eat there all the time rarely eating out.Rooms are clean. There is slight aircraft noise on odd days but it didnt bother us but then we do live between three airports at home so we are used to it. I would recommend the appartments to all.
I can recommend the village in Kremasti particularly Tommies Bar and Tassos on the beach. Tassos used to pick me up and bring me back from the beach as I am on crutches and couldnt walk far. We even met the Mayor on our last visit he made us very welcome and gave us a gift. Cant wait to get back there.

I have been visiting Kremasti for 4 years now, and have been 5 times in total. I am always delighted to stay in Esmeralda Hotel. I have even spent an extra few hundred pounds just to get a flight so I am able to stay there.
The hotel is the best in the village, and yes, you are correct, it is a true greek village.. gladly largly untouched by tourists.
Dimitris and his family who own and run the hotel have now become some of my best friends. He is a gentle and kind person, and so are his family. For the 5 times I have stayed in Esmeralda.. the food has been fantastic, and the Greek dishes must be sampled.. they are great! The room was cleaned EVERY day, when only supposed to be cleaned every other day (see notice on room door)
If you enjoy having a relaxing, wonderful holiday where one is to enjoy the local way of life, and to expierence a new place.. then I absolutley recommend Esmeralda Hotel. Why eles would I return 5 times! (twice in one month 2004)

kremasti is a total dump. the place is really horrible. i cannot think of why anyone would want to visit this place.
Advertised as a small Greek town but in reality it is a noisy, traffic ridden slum. This place is not for kids. we thought we were going to get a taste of real greek life, oh no! BIG MISTAKE.
This hotel is situated next to a main road, with a tiny pavement. Parents keep a tight hold of your kids if you are going to this place. And yes there is the pleasant sound of low flying jumbo jets to keep you amused if you cant get to sleep at night. Always useful for an early morning wake up call.
Apart from this there is maybe one pub that is O.K that is Tommies bar. The restaurants in the area are friendly and very nice. DO NOT EAT OUT OF THE HOTEL, not unless you bring the IMODIUM with you.
the food is horendous. UNDERSTATEMENT!
The people at the hotel we found arogant and unhelpful, they shouted at my kids, they shouted at my wife and constantly sat smoking at the side of the pool all day.
This is a really wierd place to stay Apartments were only cleaned twice during our weeks stay they are grotty and small. You also pay for your air conditioning system. because of the trouble that these people gave us.We ended up suing Libra and got all of our money back.
No beach in the area, that is worth visiting. Dont park your car outside the hotel or the manager will lose the plot.
Kremasti really does not have anything to offer tourists, I kid you not. I have been to greece many times and will never return to this place.
I read some negative reports about this place but really did not belive them.
I think next time I will heed the warnings so should you! STAY CLEAR!!!!

This was the second time we stayed at the Esmeralda and our twelfth time to Kremasti. The accommodation was excellent and the food outstanding. Demetri done everything to make our stay enjoyable and his brother Marco, Mother and Father and his fiancee Seva were very pleasant.
he swimming pool was very clean and a good size. The premises on the whole were impeccably clean and the garden was very well attended to by Demetris Father.(beautiful flowers in bloom in the garden and boxes at every apartment) The Esmeralda rates very highly on our list and we will definately be back come May 2004. The Village on the whole is very friendly and there is excellent for a relaxing holiday.
My old friend Tassos on the beach deserves a mention. He is the life and soul of the party and his frequent Greek nights out with him singing are a real treat. His lovely wife Sampika cooks some very tasty meals at their Cantina on the beach.
Thomas Cafe Bar on the right side of the road as you walk towards Rhodes town is a excellent place to vist for a good breakfast or snack. Antonios bar now run by his son Mike is a comfortable friendly bar for a drink. Zorbas restaurant cooks very good food I am really partial to their swordfish. I cannot fault anything in Kremasti and would recommend it to anyone.

I've read some negative reports, here, of the Esmeralda Appartments and feel moved to offer a different point of view.
Having arrived on Rhodes five hours late and in the depths of darkness, only to discover that my daughter and I had been allocated a double rather than a twin room, our two weeks holiday did not seem to be getting off to a very auspicious start. Once we got to the Esmeralda Appartments, however, things began to look up.
Dimitri, who runs the place, immediately found us a twin room and along with Mathas and everyone else at Esmeralda was never less than friendly and helpful. They even helped us to improve our Backgammon!
Certainly, Esmeralda provides fairly simple accommodation but this is what you pay the very reasonable prices for. We had maid service every day, everything was clean and the home-made food served in the small pool-side restaurant was fine.
Perhaps it is a pity that the pool is so close to the road, but Kremasti is a real, living village - rather than a holiday resort - and like most places it has a main road running through it. The pool is small but was very popular with the children, including my daughter, who spent so much time swimming in it. There was, also, no shortage of sun beds around the pool or tables in the cool shade of the poolside bar.
We enjoyed our stay on the island of Rhodes, including the organised trip around the island - taking in the Butterfly Valley, a winery and the stunning archeological site at Kameiros - and a boat journey to amazing Lindos, which must not be missed! Old Rhodes Town, too, is fascinating and beautiful. (Many thanks to Louise, the Libra rep, for all her help and advice.)
We liked the authentic atmosphere of Kremasti, with its lovely church and busy evenings when the young promenade from one end of the village to the other, and would certainly stay again with Dimitri and his family at the Esmeralda Apartments.

We managed to get a cheap deal through Libra travel in July 2003. We decided to go to the Esmerelda because it was meant to be family frienly.
This it was certainly not. The family who run the hotel had no time for kids and complained at my two year old son all the time. so much so that we never used the hotel pool after the first day.
They even accused him of wetting the bed and demanded 200 Euros in cash.
Throughout the week we tried the food twice and it was not cooked properly the chicken that we orderded was still pink. We decided to try again on the second night and the pizza was like mush.
when we left we were accused of taking the sheets and the towels.
Be very carful at this hotel.

kremasti is a small place, very little if anything for children to do. Only one decent pub called Tommies bar.
At the hotel the food is really bad, my daughter ended up with a tummy upset after eating the chicken.
The rooms were small, few facilities on offer, no fans air conditioning had to be paid for.
The family who run the hotel sit at the side of the bar all day watching everything that goes on. Children consatnly got into trouble for running around the pool.
The pool area is very small with little space for children to move around. It is not family friendly as advertised.
The family even entered our room without our knowledge to check on the clenliness of the appartment, we found this out from our rep!
we even witnessed the son trying to stop a family from leaving the hotel because they had refused to pay for a new mattress they were accussed of damaging.
My advice is to avoid this place!
