We have just come back from the Anseli Hotel...we stayed for a week a week to long as far as we are concerned! This is suppose to be a Three* but is more like a one*. When we got to our appartment we had to inform the cleaner who hadnt cleaned the room that the fridge was covered with green mould. The floor hadnt been swept & the sink hadnt been cleaned for god knows how long. The staff were friendly & the owners were friendly too... The pool was abit small & dirty & crowded..you feel that if you dont eat at the hotel & spend money it's like you are being watched. It needs renovating very badly as the rooms are in a bit of a state. Very noisy due to overhead planes in the day, but you get used to it. The beach is very quite & the owner of the beach bar(Thassos ) is a friendly man who makes you very welcome. The village inn do a great club sandwich & the owners are great people. Take plenty of euro,s it's getting very exspensive.

Just returned from Anseli apts Kremasti and had a wonderful time.Ok they would could do with a refurb but the welcome we got from rhe staff was excellent, any problems were attended to straight away and Akis the barman is a star!I would definitely go back!

In the village there is not a lot to do for kids but it is ideal for couples and there is a little greek restaurant opposite Romeos that was spot on for the Greek food (the locals eat there!)
So don't be put off by any negatives on this site as there are none!
Also avoided Tommys bar like the plague didn't go to Rhodes to play bingo!
Hire a car as the island is so beautiful it would be a shame to miss it you don't get to see all of it on the overpriced trips

So, yes I will going back to Kremasti

At the end of May we booked 2 x 1 bedroomed apartments at the Anseli Hotel. Arrived at Anseli to be told we didnt have any accommodation booked despite having an accommodation voucher. Sat in reception for over 2 hours until it was sorted and spent the first night, altogether, in a 1 bed apartment. Loula then said we could have 1 studio and 1 bedroomed apartment for the 2 weeks so accepted this with a view to claiming the supplement on our return. On the Saturday before our return on Wednesday we were told that one couple would have to move to the Tsappis studios down the road. Not very satisfactory at all and quite unacceptable.

The Anseli needs a lot of maintainence to the bedrooms, our kettle wouldnt boil, the cooking rings never got very hot, the fridge worked at a poor setting and milk went off, there was a smoke alarm with the front hanging off and no battery. There was no peace at night as the bar didnt close until 2.30 and then the staff sat outside and chatted until 3.30, then the cleaners arrived at 7am and started moving chairs and tables. We didnt have a peaceful night out of the 14. Would under no circumstances ever go back to the Anseli Hotel.

Kremasti village was just what we enjoy, quiet and typically Greek. Not a music bar or disco to be seen - heaven. There were lots of resaturants to choose from and we enjoyed trying most of them. We did go to Tommies English bar at the end of the village but we didnt come to Greece to sit in an English bar so didnt go again. Loved the friendliness of the Greeks in the village.

I would not recommend this resort for children or teenagers as there is nothing there for them to do but for older people, like ourselves, it was heaven. This is a village that we would return to but in a different Hotel.

arrived in rhodes airport at 9.30pm, tour operator arranged taxi transfer to resort (no charge)only took about 10mins. driving through kremsti village in darkness my first thought was ";what have we done, coming here"; it looks quite run down in the dark.

arrived at the anselli apts and received a really warm welcome from the owner ";LULA"; and ";akiss"; the barman. our room was basic but very clean, we went self catering but food was available at the anselli for a small charge and it was very good! we had karaoke a couple of nights in the week and there was other entertainment during the week.

";kremasti"; in daylight- what can i say- its a delightful little village with the most beautiful church in the centre just a few shops and a handful of bars and restaraunts(pelekanos was the best for eating out -food was excellent)beach is very pebbly but water very, very clean! you can hire sunbeds for 2euros all day and theres a little snack bar on the beach front. rhodes town is a must(old town) what an awesome sight and only 20mins to get to on a moped but there is a regular bus service. you need to visit rhodes town at least twice. you need to see it at least once in the night when it is all lit up!!! all in all what a great holiday, kremasti is a great location(forgot to say there is aircraft noise but once youv been there a few hours you forget all about the planes)and a good base for seeing the island.

location is ideal if you looking to relax and dont want the hussle and bustle of busier resorts. anselli apts are really good value staff are brilliant, they cant do enough! everybody is reallly friendly and that includes the locals too!!

Kremasti is a small village with very friendly people who make you feel welcome the beach is pebbly but the water is clear sunbeds are cheap to hire we visited a bar called Thomas bar the owner Thomas makes you feel very welcome and loves children the locals who go there also make you feel welcome and love to play pool with the kids there is a nice church there dont let the planes put you off you hardly hear them

I would recommend this place to anyone.

arrived early in the morning. short taxi ride from airport costing 10e. feels like your going into the pits of an area in darkness but is fine really.
knew the place was going to be basic but knew it had air con which is a must at this time as high 20's at night still.
Was very disappointed to be told when got there that we had to be put into 'sister' hotel (where only the rooms are open) as no room in anseli.
Thisturned out to be a nightmare as no air con!! the room was like an oven. after 3!days we were given a fan which helped slightly.room very basic with non-existent kitchen utensils.

The sister hotel is only 2 mins walk from the anseli which is very basic. pool too small and full of bleach!(ok chlorine).only good thing is the bar and the barman who is sound.
we thought kremsati itself was great. no good for young kids though as very quiet but very traditional.
Beach is very short walk where you will meet tassos who provides great food and is very pleasant.
The beach is full of pebbles so take 'sea shoes' but quiet and idyllic. sea is beautiful and warm. you'll love the colour.
The town itself is busy enough to keep you going every night with decent bars, kahlua is a modern plush outside bar that is nice but maybe the dearest.taki's place by far best to eat. rhodes town is 10e taxi trip but worth it. dearer there though and very busy.restaurant owners try getting you in their cafe's. none of that in kremasti.best part of rhodes is the old town but very busy.
would definitely go to kremasti again but not anseli apts as no air con can spoil the hol as you cannot sleep. so make sure you have it. worth paying for.

One hotel we would pass regular was the margaret which looked a lot better. we would go for that next time.
The greek people we met were great and very friendly.
If want an english bar there is tommies bar on the high street which is ok and friendly.
Warning: in rhodes town the beer might be priced as 4e(only about 2.5e in kremasti)but you may find you get the biggest glass ever and be charged 10e as i was. ensure you ask in advance what you will be paying for and how much. bit of a rip off that. none of that in kremasti and youll never be hassled to go in a bar or restaurant.
ENJOY IF YOU LIKE IT QUIET AND TRADITIONAL.

When we arrived at the Anseli at approx 11.30pm we were told that we would have to stay at their sister hotel just down the road. The daughter of the hotel owners kindly took us up the road in her car with our luggage. The sister apartment was not equipped or cleaned and the toilet didn't work and there was no air con. The following day we went to the Anseli and into our apartment. It was fairly small although bigger than the first one. The cooker was worse than useless, we had a laugh at how long it took us to boil an egg!! The people were helpful and friendly enough, the barman Akis loved to be the centre of attention but was quite a pleasant chap. We tended to go out of the apartment in the evening as the entertainments in the hotel bar were a little too much like being at home i.e. karaoke, bingo and quiz nite.

You do get used to the noise of the planes and we turned it into a joke so after the first day or so they don't matter.

I absolutely loved the place, can't wait to go back there, there are plenty of restaurants on the high street but the best one we found was Pelakanos House in the village. Manolis and Niko were fantastic hosts and the food was great. Niko loved his Greek dancing and was willing to demonstrate it at any time during service!! Sue had her birthday while we were out there and we had the best night out at Pelakanos House they made it really special for her.

It is an area for older people and couples more than children, there are two kantinas on the beach at Kremasti, the sea is a glorious blue and the people are so lovely and friendly.

We didn't go to Greece to sit in English bars, we can do that at home, we went to sample the real Greek culture and food and we certainly did that.

The Anseli was ok for a base and if you're not in a hurry for a boiled egg in the morning then you'll be ok!!!

A nice relaxing holiday resort with not a lot to do which is what we were looking for.Quite a few little tavernas and bars but to our dismay on our 1st morning found a bar called the Village Inn that seemed quite nice from the outside so decided to have an English breakfast the woman owner(Linda) seemed very freindly. But I had to have a doctor call out with stomach cramps and suffered bad diahorrea for 2 days. Later found two other couples in the same way after eating there too.We would recomend the resort to all and a Barnsley Family run bar just past the church with great entertainment. The beach is pebbly but Tassos is some character with his sunbeds.

We were taken to the hotel via isolated backroads at night which put us at unease. We were shown to our room which added to our disappointment the decor was drab and dark and the rooms were small we had no view just a wall there was no kettle and the cooking facilities were laughable. When we thought it could not get any worse a plane flew a hairs whisker away. We could see his name badge. The morning however brought relief everyone was very friendly and although the accomadation was shabby it was clean and the food was nice.

The beach in Kremesti was poor although the locals were very welcoming, especially to children. However its only a few 9 euros to the excellent shingle beach i Rhodes. The old town was good for shopping.

This hotel is mostly suited to couples as nothing to do for children. The pool is very small and not very clean, we used a nearby hotels pool. I would go to Rhodes again but not Kremesti. The picture they use in the brouchures must be when it was new and now its loved by the family who run it who are lovely people but it needs doing up. There is a fab bowling alley in Kremesti but other wise nothing to do just row upoun row of eating places.

After reading poor reviews about Kremasti I felt I had to write. I visited last year in June 2004 with my daughter, 12. We were warmly greeted by the family and settled in very quickly, being half term there were children for Lauren to get along with.

The hotel itself is basic but what you expect of a greek hotel. The food I found was excellent, although a little more pricey than outside, as you would expect. Lauren was perfectly happy with the food.

The family that run the hotel and terry, the barman, make you feel very welcome and if you have a problem will sort it out very quickly. Unfortunatly I was taken ill on the last night of my first visit there and terry and Lola, the manageress made sure I was seen to quickly and given the best advice as to treatment. And although not something you want to do attending Rhodes Hospital was a good experience given the treatment I received there.

Kremasti is basic round where the hotels are but the main street has many restuarants and a bus to rhodes town takes approx 15 minutes, be prepared to be crammed in.

The beach at Kremasti is shingle but perfectly clean and I agree that you should take a trip to Tassos place for lunch/dancing with Tassos.

I returned 3 weeks later because I loved the place the first time and was welcomed ++. The intention was to return to work the following year but unfortunately this didn't happen. However my partner and I did spend a night there this year, 2005, on our way back from Kiotari, Rhodes and after having stayed at an all inclusive Greek 5* hotel I found it a little basic and unfortunatley the tourism is very slow this year.

Do go to Kremasti if you want a quite, away from it all, greek holiday. If you join in with them you will find the place very friendly.

I booked the holiday to Kremasti - Anseli about a week before we travelled and then read this site. We were pretty worried about what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Its not bad at all.

The hotel is very nice with a good bar and a pool area. The pool is a bit small but the beach is only 10 minutes walk and is not just shingle but also fairly sandy and not too busy. The staff are very friendly and the hotel feels very safe and homely.

The resort as a whole is fairly quiet with not too many tourists and limited bars and restaurants although enough to choose from for a week or two. We were lucky enough to go in festival week which was great, music in the streets, food stalls and a market to keep us amused for a few evenings. It did quieten down after this had finished but was OK.

The closeness to the airport is a bit of a shock but it won't ruin the holiday. The resort pretty much is at the end of the runway and it is a bit of a shock when the first plane flies right past your window but you get used to it and we found it quite funny really.

Don't worry if you have booked this, its fine and you will have a good time. Taxis to Rhodes Town and Faliraki very cheap, 9E and 15E so you can get away for the day if you want. Have a good time!

First of all to all you doubters out there, kremasti is an excellent place to relax if you want to get away from it all. okay i agree that there is not alot for the kids to do, but it's an ideal place for couples who want a relaxing holiday. to see the rest of the island, you'll have to hire transport of some kind. there are nice taverna's for food and drink. a big hello to Tommies Bar, just down from kremasti church ( the big white one ). excellent night in tommies, with darts, quizes, pool comp, bingo etc. i recommend a vist to tommies!

the anseli apartments is an ideal place to relax, and the staff are very friendly and hepful. the food is excellent and very good. tassos and loula are very good hosts! the greek night is a must! the margaret hotel is just around the corner if you fancy a change. good night out in kremasti, with bars and taverna's galore. don't let the aircraft noise put you off, just get off your trolley and youll never here the noise! overall i would recommend kremasti for anyone wanting a quiet holiday. i've been going to the same hotel for a staggering 12 years! will be going back at the end of this month for 2 weeks. get yourself there and enjoy!
