"3 VISITS TO DATE - EACH ONE A WINNER"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This is our 3rd visit & we have always havd an excellent time. Popi, her family & staff do a great job to make this so & the place is always clean & inviting
The rooms are basic but comfortable & are all you want on a holiday
The pool is great & always spotless, with a great refreshments & lunch menu
The restuarant is reasonably priced & the food is home cooked, we normally have half our evening meals there during our holiday
The bar is comfortable with many a late & relaxing night has been spent there
Our 1st 2 visits were just with our teenagers, the latest with friends as well Next year we will be taking our 1st ever holiday without our children & this is where we will be going as we know we will have a great time.
This is not an isolated opinion, every time we have been there we have met people who are on return visits, what more can I say!

Overall Hotel Rating:
Accommodation here was wonderful, clean and decent sized apartments with air conditioning and fridges available (at extra cost). Air conditioning: 8 Euro per day, Fridge: 10 Euro per week. Breakfast included the usual bread roll with butter and jam, tea, coffee and orange juice. Pool was decent size and when we went wasn't too crowded either, sunbeds free as usual. There was also a pool side bar supplying snacks, drinks and light meals.
Beach was only a 5 minute walk, but only sand/shingle, recommend beach at Pefkos if you have a car. It's only a 4 minute drive, and you can park on the beach front if you're early enough (plenty of spaces at 10am for us). Lardos village quieter than we would have liked, and also a 5 minute drive (25 minute walk); however, our hotel was situated at Lardos Beach rather than Lardos Village. Lardos Beach was quiet, but still a few places to eat, we counted around 5-10 taverna and hotel restaurants. Lardos Village was slightly livelier, but again only a small selection of tavernas around the main square.
We found it just as easy to drive to the more lively village of Pefkos (4 mins), or Lindos which is a 10-15 minute drive. If you do get a bit bored of Lardos and don't have a car, it's worth noting that there was a bus stop outside our hotel (apparently very good), and we saw a great number of people catching taxis to the nearby villages.
All in all, Lardos is a great place to be situated if you want a quiet base to explore the south side of the island!

I have been to Sunshine Hotel 8 times and my partnet 7 times. We are trying to book again for this year. Very friendly family run hotel. Popi & Demetri are very nice, and their 3 sons are very nice also. The whole family are very helpful, and they really make you very welcome. They do all their own cooking and would get anything in for you. Popi even comes to wave you off on the coach, it feals as if you are leaving home. Hope we can get in again this year.

Wow. This was our second visit to Popi and her family, who remembered us from two years ago and made us feel like long lost friends. This holiday was even better the second time around. The standard of cleanliness was excellent. The restaurant provided us with excellent well cooked meals. The restaurant also attracts many non-residents who, seem to return time and time again. The pool area was superb everyone seemed to spend the day around the pool. We ate out in Lardos on two occasions, both excellent fish platters at the Roof Garden. It is well worth a visit. The beach near the hotel is good.
The Sunshine is just the place for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Even our two teenagers want to go back for a 3rd visit.

Arrived in Lardos at 3am to be welcomed by a friendly rep who took us to our hotel. Apon arriving at our hotel at 5am we were greeted by Poppi who intern gave us a key, said our room number then ignored us while proceeding to chat to the middle aged couple who also were arriving at the hotel. We found our room on our own and was slightly disappointed find it so basic, I knew it wouldn't be amazing but for 3* I had expected more then a bed and a loo. The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on, I couldn't get more then 3-4 hours sleep on them and I can normally sleep on anything.
The rep had informed us that we would have to meet with our personal rep at 12noon that day which gave us very little time to sleep and get settled. When I got up the next morning to get the breakfast i was seriously unimpressed, a stale roll, a bit of butter and jam and a strange citrus drink which tasted in-between orange and lemon. Poppi continued to be unhelpful, grunting when I asked about the breakfast. When we did meet the rep she gave us information on Lardos, Perfkos, Lindos and Rhodes Town which I found very helpful and accurate, which I didn't appreciate was the miss information about the local busses, telling us that they was horrible to ride on was not the case, the busses where comfortable and air conditioned, yes the buss drivers seemed to load on as many people as possible but it was not uncomfortable just a little squashed. All our rep did was try to advertise there own day trip service which cost quadruple the price of the coach to each destination for example 55 euros to Rhodes town or 4.10 euros on the bus. I was also informed by some fellow holiday goers that they were literally thrown of the bus and told to be back at a certain time on the daytrips so it is much easier to just get the bus. Taxis in the area are very cheap only costing 5 euros to Lardos or Perfkos and 9 euros to Lindos.
Our rep praised Poppi and her food but we found that Poppi and her family were very unhelpful. The food was appalling the only thing that tasted nice was the Greek salad, everything else either tasted greasy or undercooked. AND FOR ALL TOMATO KETCHUP LOVERS BRING YOUR OWN, there's tastes so sweet it was inedible. One evening we decided that air conditioning was a must have so we went to ask for it be turned on, ";yes yes"; was all I got from Poppi, ";do you want my room number"; I asked, I told her and she sent her son to come turn it on, which he didn't and hour later I walked down and again asked to have it turned on ";room number 103"; she asked ";no 203"; I replied, finally we got it turned on.
Lindos is a must see, it is beautiful, long sand beaches, donkey rides, which scared the hell out of me, DO NOT take a donkey ride down from the Acropolis they speed up and you feel like you are being thrown about by a bucking bronco, not for the faint of heart. Money wise it is not that bad we ate lunch for 10 euros which is about £7 and that was 2 drinks, garlic bread and a large pizza to share.
We did go to Faliraki's beach one day and were impressed with the amount of activities that were available, peddle boats, banana boats, ab sailing, surfing, rubber ring riding on speed boats and many more. We decided not to stay for the evening but for a day trip it was great. I must say we were a little surprised to find a MacDonald's, have they conquered the whole world.
IN Lardos the best restaurant was found was a place called Casa di Flavi, we went there time and time again, the food was lovely, the hostess made you feel warm and welcome and the meal didn't cost that must ranging between 20 an 30 euros (£13-£20) for 2 people.
Overall the holiday was not really suited to 2 19 year old girls but from what the other holiday goers said it really wasn't anyone's ideal holiday and this come from the opinions of couples in there 20's, 30's and 40's.

What a fantastic holiday, this was the first time my wife and i had been to rhodes, the hotel was just what we were looking for, quite, relaxing and most off all very pleasing, the family who run the hotel was very helpful and friendly in every way, the pool area was very clean and inviting not too mention cooling in that hot sunshine, there were plenty of sunbeds to go round and no shadows from high buildings, any time of day you can walk down to the pool and get a bed, the evenings was entertaining in the bar and the bar-b-q night was very good. the only thing i have to complain about is the fact that you cant put toilet paper down the toilet you have to put it in the small paper bin situated in the bathroom, no effort has been made to make this function more bearable ie...scented bags or air freshners, but apart from that everything ok.
Lindos was lovely, the narrow streets and white washed buildings made it a great place to dine in the evening, we had a meal at a resturant up on the roof top, it was great, you could see the Acropolis in the background all lite up, the meal was superb and value for money.
we met a couple who was staying at the hotel and we have become great friends, infact we hope to go back this year.
Highly recommended place to go.

Was looking forward to our holiday after reading the reviews and have to say that it was quite simply one of the best holidays we have had to date. The local people are extremely friendly, Poppi is an exceptionally pleasant and friendly person and we will definately be going there again. The pool area aswell as the rest of the complex is kept immaculately clean and is a must if you are looking for a relaxing, quiet holiday.

Myself and Partner visited Lardos as a last minute, cheap holiday and got a lot more than we expected.
Accommodation - the hotel is ran by Poppy and her family and they all make you feel extremely welcome. Rooms are quite basic but clean, with a maid service every day (except Sunday). Air conditioning is an extra 8euros a day, which we thought too expensive so went without. Fridges are 10 euros extra for a week which was well worth it. The pool area was great, hotel was quite small so there was no problem getting a free sunbed every day. Pool is a nice size but is quite deep, so probably not suitable for younger children. Snack bar served excellent home-made meals all day, every day for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was simply a bread roll, so we opted to do without. We were very lucky as there was a great group of people at the hotel while we were there which made the stay even more enjoyable.
Resort - Lardos is quite quiet but still plenty of things to do. Approx 10 restaurants close by and local supermarkets 2 minutes from the hotel enterance. We walked into Lardos village one time and it was a pleasant walk (about 30 mins) but it was extremely hot, so taking a bottle of water is recommended. We opted for a taxi for the visits into the village after that (only 5 euros).Lardos village is very traditional but still with excellent restaurants and bars to visit. Pefkos is much more lively, with slightly more to do, we got taxis into Pefkos (again for 5 euros) and here is a great choice of restaurants and bars to try. We travelled into Lindos (again by taxis for 8 euros) and visited the Acropolis. Lindos is very hot and streets very narrow. Acropolis was breathtaking, the views from the top made the slightly difficult and hot climb very worth it.
Weather - hot, hot, hot!! We had a slight breeze on a couple of days which was deceiving. Had to use plently of sun protection and use the shade regularly as it is so easy to burn. The pool at the hotel made it easy to cool off. Beaches were also very clean. Lardos beach seemed man made and was very pebbley so didn't enjoy that. Pefkos beach however was fantastic. Sand was beautiful and clean, water was so clear and you could wade far out, while little fish swam around your feet. Sunbeds were extra (8 euros a day) and the beach got very busy so best to get down there early)
We had a fantastic time at the Sunshine hotel and will definately be visiting there again - hopefully next year.

when arriving to the hotel we were welcomed by poppy who seemed to be very friendly the rooms are very basic with our ceiling light fitment hanging off the balcony light not working the bottom part of the sink not attached to the wall properly half the door frame hanging off which none of these problems were resolved by the end of our stay.
The next day when we went down for breakfast things just got worse all their continental breakfast consists of is a bread roll a little sample of jam and a glass of orange juice, the night before poppy had told us that breakfast is buffet style when we spoke to her about this she turned and was not helpful at all and her husband was even worse as he got quite rude and said that it wasn't his problem our rep was very helpful but he turned on her and was shouting very abusive language at her we never went to breakfast again but thomas cook were very helpful and gave us £50 to cover the cost of eating breakfast elsewhere
a visit to lardos village is well worth it it is very peaceful and the locals couldn't be more friendly or helpful there is a bar to the right as you get to the village square where george will serve you best english breakfast ever, we regularly walked to pefkos at night and had dinner at the two brothers absolutely beautiful meals every night very friendly and playful with our 2 year old daughter.
we went in end of may early june but rhodes was so quiet with no life anywhere evening driving through falaraki there was no one about if i was you i would not stay in the sunshine hotel if you still want to go to rhodes go to lindos as it is much prettier a beautiful white washed village and the beach is lovely too

We went in October 2003. 2 x lone parents , each with our 2 children. We had saved hard and were very disappointed.
The breakfast was terrible. We even bought our own cereal and had it taken by other guests!!!
My son discovered the doors to our rooms could be opened by his school buspass. I discovered that my door key opened the room next to ours - I opened it in error after getting room mixed up.We paid to go on organised trips to Rhodes, Symi and also an Island discovery trip. The trips to Rhodes Town and Symi - dont bother - you could easily do them yourself for a fraction of the price and they a both well worth seeing. We were basically thrown off the coach and told to be back at a certain time! The Island discovery trip was brilliant - because the guide (Kathryn) was Greek and she was very informative.
Eating out was very expensive - I myself spent £35 to £50 per night feeding myself and my 2 boys. We ran out of money in the middle of the second week. The best resaurant we found and went back to time and time again was Casa de Flavia - the hosts were lovely and the food was delicious.
We did walk into Lados village and found the Roof Top Restaurant offered a good choice and the staff were friendly.
We also went to Lindos on the bus ourselves. I recommend getting a taxi back - they cost less than the bus and you taken from the bottom of a steep back in Lindos right back to the door of your hotel. We had tried to go back on the bus the previous day but even though we were first at the bus stop, we were trodden on in the stampede of the rather rude Germans, pushing their way on in front of us!!Weloved the Greek people, and we certainly loved the Greek food, even though it was expensive eating out. The weather was also brill for the time of year.

On arrival at the Sunshine, we found that our accommodation was clean but very basic. Air conditioning was not included and at 8 euros per day took a lot from our budget. the fridge was also extra at 15 euros a week. the onsight cocktail bar stayed open until 2am, fine if you dont want any sleep!!
There was a lovely pool, with plenty of sunbeds. the weekly BBQ and kareoke night was great fun. however, the breakfast was disappointing, the one roll, one pack of butter and jam and a glass of orange juice was hardly worth getting up for.
the resort was quiet, however there were about 9 restaurants, 3 in partiocular were very good. bellpasso, casa di flavia and chrisanthi. lardos itself was worth a visit in the evening, even though it was about a 35 minute walk. the Old House restaurant was one of the best.
Pefkos was livlier, with more bars and restaurants.
We hired a car for 3 days, the best places to visit include rhodes old town, prassonissi beach and if you go to Lindos go early in the morning!!
if you visit the sunshine hotel, you will be met by George and his famous melonas!!
we had a lovely time, and would definatley reccommend the resort.
