"Casa De La Sera review"

Open quote

We visited the Casa de la Sera as part of our island hopping trip. We had pre-booked a room in Cavadoro Hotel (which is owned by the same family), but when we arrived, we were told that ";the agent"; had double booked the room, so they had booked us into the Casa de la Sera.

Unfortunately, we were not at all impressed with the hotel or the hostess. Our room resembled the kind of room you'd expect to stay if you'd committed a crime. It was dingy, the door wouldn't lock, the window wouldn't lock, there was insulating tape holding the light switch on the wall and the bathroom towels were like cardboard. The most outrageous thing was a certificate on the back of the door declaring the hotel an ";A class"; charging 65 euros a night.

Interestingly enough, when I'd pre-booked a room at the Cavadoro Hotel (which incidentally - seemed very nice) a month earlier, directly through the hostess (and not via an agent as she claimed), she had also offered me a room in the Casa de la Sera for 35 euros a night. As I had read such lovely things about the Cavadoro, I thought it would be a lovely place to finish our holiday, instead - we ended up in a complete hovel!

Anyway, needless to stay, we cut short our stay in Rhodes and flew back up to Athens. I have to say, I was not at all impressed by customer service at this hotel, there was no hint of an apology over the ";mixup"; and I'm very pleased to say this all came from the only non-Greek hostess we'd encountered during our travels.
Th sum up, this is a very cheap hotel (I only offered 35 euros), if you are only interested in a bed to sleep in, maybe it's for you. If you like your home comforts, steer well clear.
