Rhodes is not a cheap place ! a round of drinks for 4 of us came to 15 Euros on average ( £12 )
That said it is a lovely place and the people are so friendly without being pushy.

Rhodes town is the best place on the island. The beaches are a pebbly but the water is very clean. We have being coming to Rhodes Town for a few years and would say that most of the tavernas in the old town are reasonalby priced, but there is a bar near one of the entrances (where you get ripped off) don't know what it is called but it is surrounded by some big trees (charges €4.90 for 500ml of Warsteiner) Castello house at the other end charges €2.00 for the same) and does a great Greek Salad. Rusticos taverna is another great place to eat. Some of the best things to see in the old town is a visit to the Castle where you can see the exhbits in the castle (loads of history if you like that sort of thing). Also near the harbour there is a dotto train which takes yo round the outskirts of the town and takes approx 40 mins well worth the ride

This is the 4th time we have been to this hotel and still think it's brillant. The food was very good. The staff extremly friendly and helpful. We had a room at the front this time and found that the bathrooms where a lot bigger than the rooms on the side....

Love Rhodes town. Tons of stuff to see, food to eat, friendly people everywhere. Overall a very nice place to stay. Symi trip was okay, pretty for the first hour but it gets very long and got boring in the end. Marmaris trip was a dead loss to be honest. My own personal opinion is save your money don't bother to go to Turkey unless you really want to spend loads of money on gold, a carpet or fake stuff and tat. You will be harrassed to death by the end of your day mark my words they want your money! The beach at marmaris was manking when I went but that might be a one off? The cleaner beach, if there is one, is miles away from the harbour? Rhodes is far surperior really. You can book on the quayside and travel by yourself if you want, they're genuine ticket sales don't worry. You generally get a slip that you exchange for your ticket at the harbour or some arrangement like that. Quite straight forward really. The advantage of doing it yourself is your hotel tour operators are acting as a third party working with disorganized agencies that either cancel your trip because they can't make the numbers for a party or the coaches are always running late, from what I could see anyway. I went diy and had no problems.

Nice plain type of hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. No complaints about the rooms really, they are pretty much bog standard tho so don't get your hopes up. The self catering is a real tight squeeze for two bodies, so god knows what three must be ...

Rhodes Town is a fascinating place and a week really isn't long enough to see everything. Apart from the Old Town and all the more obvious sights, I would recommend going up to Monte Smith to see the antiquities there, and the lovely views. Also the aquarium is worth a visit, and the little train which takes you all round the town is good value.

Our holiday got off to an unfortunate start as I had booked a self-catering studio and we were given a bed and breakfast room. This was when we arrived on Sunday morning, after travelling all night. Apparently there was no alternative vacant at the time, bu...

Me & my girlfriend have just come back from staying here for almost 2 weeks. The weather was great for the end of April and it was getting really hot by the time we left.
There are plenty of things to do when you go to Rhodes if you like sight-seeing and the beaches are top notch. If you do like sight-seeing, I would advise that you hire a car for a few days like we did, taxi's can be pretty expensive if you are looking around the island and spent soo much less by doing it this way.
Going out to eat in Rhodes can be pretty costly if you are eating in a restaurant (2 alcoholic drinks and a small meal each can cost around £25), be warned, when you order your food, they bring out a basket of bread to the table and then charge you for anything you have eaten out of that as well as the meal itself, but you can pick up a Gyros (kebab) for between 2 and 2.5 euros which we found to be really tasty.
We would advise you to take a day trip to Turkey if you want to buy some nice cheap clothes, jewellery, perfume, etc...You can usually get a day trip from 9am until 5pm for about 52 euros, the organizers will take you into one of their commission shops though and tell you all about their carpets and jewellery they can give you at a low rate but you can opt out of that if you want.
All in all, Rhodes island was an unforgettable experience, great weather (rained heavy a couple of days with lots of lightning and thunder but this was just because we went at the end of the low season) great food, lots of drink and the sights are breathtaking.
