"Annapolis Inn review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Before deciding on which hotel to stay at we did a lot of research, and chose the Annapolis Inn on the basis of what other people had said about it.... and we were so glad - we definitely made the right choice. The hotel was clean, spacious, welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent - the best in Rhodes and also some of the cheapest. On the few occasions we ate at other restaurants we were disappointed and out of pocket. If you stay here... make sure you try the food. The hotel was ideally situated in the heart of the new town, 5 minutes walk from the great beach and 10 minutes from the stunning old town. Thankfully though, it was a few streets away from heart of the many bars and restaurants. Be careful when choosing a hotel - this area (especially Bar Street) is VERY noisy until the early hours.
The old town of Rhodes is like a film set. It is magical, especially at night, and you will have fun exploring the many cobbled streets. Make sure you venture away from the main squares, as some of the back streets are full of surprises.
All in all this holiday was just about perfect. A wonderful week of great food, hot sunshine and delicious Greek Mythos beer!! Enjoy!

the hotel is situated right in the centre of the new town.on turning right out of the entrance you are 5 minutes away from the windy side (beach),and if you walk round on the main road you will suddenly find that the wind drops and there is no brezze at all.it then feels very hot..Phew.
this then takes you to the old town and the harbours .a absolute must.the hotel studios/apartments are huge and are very clean .clean sheets and towels every day
all the staff are so friendly and helpful its as though you have known them for years ,we wents/c but ate most of the time from the hotel alare carte menu ,the food and presentation is first class.and is the same price as the restarunt across the road and much better
this hotel is a MUST. The swimming pool is exellent and very clean..Go Ahead And Book It You will not be let down at all,
ENJOY THIS BECAUSE IT IS BRILL.........
on the windy side is a pub called KOJAKS try it he is a very funny greek and will keep you well entertained and the beers/wines are also cheap and very GOOD>

The Annapolis Inn is a great hotel. It is ideally located in Rhodes Town for sightseeing both Old and New town. It is on a street that connects both sides of Rhodes Town, from one side to the other takes 15 minutes to walk. The hotel itself is very clean and the staff were extremely friendly. They even upgraded us from a studio to an apartment for no extra charge. The pool area is quite small but a very nice pool. There were safety deposit boxes in the reception area at a very good price (E18 for 2 weeks). The reception was manned 24 hours a day.
We were a bit concerned about the weather at this time of the year but we had much better weather than we could have hoped. Having checked the weather in Rhodes on the run up to the holiday it was cloudy and rainy. We arrived there to blue sky and very warm without being too hot. Everyday when we opened the curtains in the morning it was blue sky, only one day out of the 14 was cloudy and that had moved on around lunchtime. It was a lovely temperature to be able to sit in all day without getting too hot and bothered. The temperature in the evening was around 17 degrees, very pleasant for sitting outside in a restaurant and then a walk around old town. Bearing in mind that they get about 65 rainy days max per year there is a street full of umbrella shops, it is quite bizarre.
The New town or Rhodes town has lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. They are all mixed up together. There are lots of boutique type shops along with lots of Benetton's and Marks and Spencer's. If you turn right out of the hotel and walk along the road you come to many roads with shops and cafes, if you turn left out of the hotel it is mainly bars and restaurants. 'Bar Street' is up that way. It was quite quiet up that end, we really only went up that way to find a pub to watch the England footy in. I'm sure in peak season that area is buzzing and very atmospheric. After we had had our evening meals we mainly chose to go to 'locals' bars which mainly had dance/chillout music. There is a bar/nightclub called Blue Lagoon just up from the harbour that is very good and fun. The resort was quiet but still had lively areas as the locals are always socialising. Over the course of the holiday some of the restaurants and bars had closed but as we were trying to go to the 'locals' places it was ok. 90% of the restaurants/bars were still open.
The old town was our favourite part of the town. If you go out of the hotel, turn left and follow one of many roads down to the harbour. The harbour is very busy and quite pretty. If you follow the road round to the right you will come to one of the entrances to old town. It is true what they saw on this site, you should move away from the busy areas and literally get lost in all the back streets, it is the best way to find out how the locals really live. There is one restaurant we particularly liked in Old Town and that was Romeos, just off Socrates street, it has the best food and service in the town. The farmers pork was delicious. Old town at night is lovely too, all the old buildings lit up and it is very atmospheric. If we go back to Rhodes we decided that we would stay in old town.
We took a trip to Lindos on a boat trip arranged by Kosmar, we knew we would be paying over the odds but for the sake of ease (which is what we wanted on this holiday) we paid E35 each instead of the E22 you can get it for on the harbour. Lindos was lovely, very picturesque, the acropolis is a climb but not too bad, stay away from the donkeys though, they look very unstable!
We had wanted to go to the waterpark, we were told there was a free bus from the harbour but once we got there we found out it was closed due to bad weather, although it was bright and sunny for 9 days previous! We weren't best chuffed to say the least, our taxi driver on the way back said it was mainly due to the fact that the resort was quieter as it was coming to the end of the season. I read on this site about the train that leaves outside the theatre near the harbour that takes you all around the town. For E3 it was great, it lasted 45 minutes and was great fun and a great place to start to look for places to visit.
All in all we had a great holiday; the Annapolis Inn is a great hotel, ideally located, very friendly and very comfortable. Rhodes town is also great as there is a lot to do day and night as it is the capital of Rhodes. Old town was beautiful and you really must get lost on the streets to find the best bars, shops and streets and see how the locals live.
