"Low season break"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel itself was really friendly and the food and drinks were pretty cheap. The barman (Adam) is a very friendly character and likes to keep you chatting about nothing in particular.
The hotel is very nice and modern except for the water which has little pressure so if you dont mind having a shower that drizzles then this is the place for you. The pool is a little on the small side and this is the first time I have ever been to a hotel where they charge you to use their sun loungers.
The distance from the hotel to Rhodes Town (old and new) is around 35 minutes on foot, its mostly downhill to either location so be prepared and keep your trainers in a bag or something.
I left my wallet and mobile phone in the hotel on numerous occasions and nothing was touched by the maids when they came into the room to do their daily cleaning.
If you like watching TV, they do have a couple of stations that transmit English movies on an evening, the deposit for the TV remote is 20 euros at reception.
They have Karaoke twice a week (wed and Sun) and they also have a pool table and table air hockey which will set you back 1.5 euros a game (pretty expensive in my opinion).

Have just spent two weeks in the Panorama Hotel and would recommend to people of all ages.
A family run hotel where everyone was happy to help. Although location and surrounding veiws were not good these became something to easy forget about. A taxi ride (6 euros) takes you to bar street if wanting a lively night. However, the entertainment was so good in hotel we usually left for bar street after a night in the hotel bar. Reception ring taxi for you. Went to Lindos by boat and Tsambuca Beach and would higly recommend both trips! Food is fantastic and reasonably priced meaning we ate in hotel for 12 nights out of 14. Only other place we went was McDonalds. Room was fine and would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who does not want to be stuck right next to town! Being away from the town keeps noise to minimum also meaning the hotel was full of families and couples of all ages. Not too many groups of rowdy holidaymakers!
Would definately consider going back to Panorama!!!

We booked a last minute holiday with just two weeks notice to the panorama hotel. We were a bit worried as had not had time to study brochures etc and it was only £700 for the 4 of us for 2 weeks.
But this was one of the best holidays we have had. The accommadation was outstanding and very clean. The food in both the snack bar and resturant was excellent and the hotel staff were so friendly and helped make this a wonderful holiday. Anna who runs the snackbar in the day is english and Kelly who waits on in the evening is Scottish. The owner and his wife run the resturant at night and are loverly and really look after you. Th swimming pool was spotless.
All we wanted was a relaxing holiday, sunbath and eat and that is what we got. The hotel had entertainment every night which was not to butlins standard but when you are happy and relaxed with a few glasses of wine in you then it fitted the bill.
The hotel was international so there where other guests from different countries. There was Sweden, Holand, and Belgium. This was great as everybody got on and met up at night for chats. The Swedish and dutch lads (age 20+) entertained the children all day long with pool games etc) My only complaint about this arrangment is that one of the dutch tour operators seemed abit club 18-30 ish and there was large gangs of loud dutch boys coming home between 4-6am for a few days. But i made a complaint to the rep who mentioned it to management and the boys repected that this was a family complex and where good as gold for the rest of the holiday.
Rhodes old town is beautiful and we ventured out 4 times. It is a long walk (20 mins) but we really enjoyed that aspect. My advice is if you want to go in the day get a taxi as it is hot and the walk is not shady. When went at 5.30 thinking it was a bit cooler and got burnt and i had sunstroke. I recommend going in at night as it is not as busy and it is alot cooler.
We went July 7th 2007 for 2 weeks and it was hot. The last week averaged at 40 but there was a heat wave on. If travelling with children have a really high suncream. I had factor 30 for mine and they still got red faces. T shirts are recommended.
This was an excellent holiday and hotel and i would go again next year and recommend it to anybody who wants a quiet, relaxing holiday in the sun. The greeks love children and go out of their way with kids. My sons shed tears coming home as they did not want to leave.

this holiday was booked on the tuesday,we flew out on the sunday. we arrived in darkness so were oblivious to the surrounding views. in daylight they were very disappointing, rundown and very scruffy. everything else was fantastic, the hotel was very clean, the water always hot and the towels and sheets changed daily. the staff were the most friendly we have ever met, very good fun without being pushy. we eat every evening at the hotel, the food was excellent and such good value for money it would have been foolish not to.
rhodes town is a must to see and in our oppinion both the resort and the hotel (forget the surroundings)are a must to return to.

I stayed at the Panorama in October with my husband.
Circumstances leading to our stay resulted from my husband having a stroke the day before we were due to fly home from Rhodes. Olympic holidays relocated us from Pefkos to the Panorama Hotel in Rhodes town so that I could be near my husband in hospital.
The management and staff at the hotel Takis Sterios, Kelly, Ann, Sophia and Anna Sterios were excellent. The hotel was spotlessly clean with large rooms and being self catering it had a wonderful snack bar. I would recommend the hotel to both young and old. Amenities included a superb swimming pool and Greek nights which were excellent. Whilst I was unable to join in, the laughter of the guests filled the air in the lounge.
My family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Panorama Hotel. Without these wonderful friendly people I would never have been able to cope. A special thanks also goes to Olympic holidays and their staff for being so kind, caring and thoughtful. If we have the opportunity to travel again I would definitely stay with Takis and his wife at the Panorama Hotel.
For anyone else thinking of staying you will have a wonderful time and be treated well by these wonderful people of Rhodes.

pleasantly suprised by hotel was fantastic great service friendly staff, apartments clean and tidy ate in the hotel every night food was fantastic i go abroad 3 times a year and ive never eaten in the hotels because the food is usually rubbish, but this one i loved, happy hour 3 for 2 on drinks at 5 till 6 is good, also do greek nights, karaoke games nights etc so entertainment is good.
apartment was great lots of sofas and beds we stayed on the first floor, air con was broke but maintenace fixed straight away which was good, always hot water and lots of power in the showers.
rhodes itself is an interesting place to see and the castle is great, although we wouldnt go back to rhodes because of a number of reasons :-
1. the town was crazy roads were all over the place nearly got ran over lots of times, the people in rhodes werent very friendly either
2.taxis were a pain paying attention mainly to locals as they speak greek and they get diferent people in taxis going to different places also they dont like going short distances and we wasnted to go a short distance cos my boyfriend had a bad ankle and he shouted at us and charged us 5 or 6 euros when it should have been about 2.
3.if you walk the slightest bit away from the main town of rhodes youll realised that the place is actually a complete hole, filthy, full of rubbish hardly any cars on the roads that havent been in a crash and the small beach at mandraki harbour we didnt trust going on because of oil and filth from the cruise ships etc.
4.if you see anyone coming up to you with a scratchcard turn your head and walk away, you win a prize and they send you to a holiday centre on a free return taxi to collect it and they dont give you a choice they literally are outside the taxi rank and throw you in them, then they tell you they need 60 minutes of your time and they try and sell a holiday deal for you to pay 500 pounds on the day and actually take 3 hours of your time, very annoying
and lastly the waiters in the restaurant were a nuisance, they follow you down the street to have a conversation and try and get you in for a drink and one day we decided to go in and have a quick drink, i was shocked because they assumed my boyfriend was a beer drinker and brought him a 2litre beer shaped like a boot and wacked on 15 euros onto the bill for it so please be careful!!!!
we booked with olympic staff were friendly went on an island tour which was nice, rep very helpful went out of her way to find out if there was a heavy metal bar in rhodes and we found one, dont be fooled by the valley of the butterflies they are all just tiger moths and all exactly the same.
and take your sun lotion and sunglasses with you to the airport when coming home because we queued for 2 hours outside the airport and when they were calling us to board the plane we hadnt even checked in,worst airport i had ever been to in my life what a hole and the staff there were very unfriendly.
hope this helps

The hotel was very clean - rooms cleaned every day and sheets/towels changed. Food was very good and cheap, if there was nothing on the menu to suit chef was happy to come up with something based on what you wanted, e.g. vegetarian pasta with mushrooms in a basil and tomato dressing.
Balcony views very disappointing - house opposite in rundown state and on the 4th floor a constant wind blew so that sitting out was near impossible. The hotel did try to provide entertainment of a sort most nights but in May there were not that many people about.
Rhodes old town is great but to be honest a little far away to allow for pottering back and forth from hotel. Trip to Lindos on boat is superb - highly recommend Lindos for a sense of real Greek village life (if you can ignore tourists). Easy to book from harbour - don't use tour companies!

Hotel
We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday and had an excellent time apart from an accident where I hurt my head sightseeing in a church believe it or not.
If you are looking for a large hotel with standard food and impersonal staff not typical of Greece then this is NOT the place for you. The hotel has a very personal feel with many great characters working there, they make you feel very welcome and enjoy making conversation, but at the same time they are not in your face. In the day time there is a lady originally from the UK that works and is very helpful with a great sense of humour. At night the owner works in the restaurant along with a lovely Greek lady and a very professional chef.
The hotel was absolutely excellent and I would recommend it to everyone, I visited this website prior to visiting the hotel and as we had a good deal I felt it was worth a try in spite of 2 of the reviews. I would usually expect to pay for fans/AC/safe deposit in Greece so it sounded like worth a try.
We went for the bedroom self-catering option - the room was large, very clean and even had a TV which is unusual for Greece. I did watch CNN now and again, but I was in Rhodes for a holiday. TV was free, but if you require a remote control it's 15 Euro deposit. Didn't need Air con as the climate was just right when we went, but the option was there.
The room we were in had 2 balconies which overlooked part for the town residential area (not rundown) which extended across with a distant view of the sea. The catering facilities were typical of Greece, limited, but the food is so cheap we only use it to have breakfast and lunch.
The swimming pool was very clean and has an extra section attached which for children, great for parents. There is a bar inside the reception area and one outside.
The restaurant prices in the hotel were very cheap and food was excellent, everyone we spoke to all enjoyed the food too. It's 6 Euros on average for a main-course, and about 8 Euros for the swordfish (14 Euro in the town) which I would most definately recommend. The chef also did daily BBQ's.
The hotel is about a 25 minute walk, which once you find your way is a nice way to do a bit of exercise, failing that you can get a taxi which ranged from 3 to 4 Euros, put your seat belt on as they drive very fast.
About a 5- 10 minute walk from the hotel towards town (it's the route where you go down a narrow one way road), there is a lovely restaurant which is not touristy at all, the food is delicious and the owner is very passionate about his food, I highly recommend this place, I think the name is 'Ta Marisia', but don't quote me on that - the building is yellow with blue window frames, it's small with tables outside and ivy growing over the court yard.
Resort
The old town is lovely, amazing building which have been well preserved; it is touristy, but has not destroyed the area which is nice. Food is more expensive in the restaurants there, where as the new town is cheap, probably because this is where the Greeks eat. We drove around the entire island and I felt we picked the best resort as it gave us the diversity we wanted, we had the option of beaches, nice restaurants, shops, or just a chill out area at the hotel, other resorts in my opinion were more restrictive.
I was unable to make the most of visiting the island as I had concussion from my accident and couldn't do too much. The owner of the hotel took me to the hospital and spoke to the doctors for me which I greatly appreciated and I didn't think you would find this in many hotels. I will go back to the island to finish off what I missed and will probably stay in the same hotel.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We were both pleasantly surprised with our accomodation after reading some of the poor reviews.
The room was nice and big and it was cleaned on a daily basis with fresh towels provided every day. However, on our last day we paid to have a room extention because of our late pick up time and we were transfered to a really shabby cramped room in another building. I think these were probably what the other reviews may have been based on and I would have felt the same had I been put in one of them for the entire holiday.
The pool was a good size but the area for sun bathing around the pool was very cramped and not well thought out. Also I thought it was really poor that you had to pay for your sunbed at the pool each day (1 euro). However, this didn't seem to put off most people as all the beds were taken each day by 9am.
The poolside snacks were good as was the food in the restaurant - we both had mousakka one night, which was delicious. The hotel is on the outskirts and you can feel slightly isolated. We walked into Rhodes town a couple of times during the day and it took about 30 mins. However, we tended to get taxis in the evenings.
Rhodes old town is stunning. Some really fantastic restaurants overlooking the central square.
The new town is really cosmopolitan, and had a city feel to it.
We took a boat trip to Symi, which was superb. Booked it down at the harbour for 15 euros each. Set off at 9am and got back at 6. Plenty of time in Symi to eat and look about and it had a nice small shingle beach there too.The nightlife in Rhodes town was very quiet. Bar street seemed half empty despite it been peak season. We even resorted to Faliraki on 2 occassions (12 euros by taxi)However, it too was like a ghost town with a hand full of people in each bar (something to do with the bad publicity its had).
All in all a fantastic holiday. Would definitely go back to Rhodes and would be happy to stay at the Panorama.

From the moment we walked in the door, someone at the bar shouted welcome to faulty towers! We just laughed at first, the bar staff greeted us by saying the bar is still open [we arrived at 4am] with the excitement of being on holiday we ordered ourselves a couple nightcaps, that is where it all began.
the apartment was basic with a fabulous view of the run down residential area. The following afternoon when we had a bit of shuteye the kids tried to put on the tv, oh what's this you can't you have to pay 18euro's deposit for it. Then we notice the list as long as your arm for the price of all your extra's sunbeds 1euro, safety deposit box 20euro,
fans 18euro, air con 50euro [fortnightly]. oh well we are on holiday!Rhodes town is a half hour stroll or 5euro's in taxi which they order at reception for 40cents. Rhodes old town is absolutely stunning the views are spectacular, with a variety of bars, restaurants, and shops all waiting to sell you something. The new town is huge M and S, BHS, Pizza Hut, Macdonalds you name it, it's there you need a week to get around. We had a boat trip to Lindos which takes about 2hours depending on your boat. Take plenty of sun cream and check that they sell drinks on board. The views from the acroplis are lovely. Don't book through your tour rep as you will save a packet down at Mandraki Harbour.
Overall brilliant weather in it's 40's plus! Not that expensive average drink 2euro's mythos beer, 4.5euros cocktails. soft drinks 1.50euro's. Would defintely go back to Rhodes again but not to faulty towers.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed at the Panorama for seven nights at the end of June 2004.
The rooms at the Panorama are very very basic, but clean (the cleaner came every day) and spacious (except for the toilet/shower room which is very cramped)The kitchen facilities are limited, but we didn't go self-catering to spend the week cooking.
Indeed, we didn't intend to spend the week staring at the walls of the hotel room so were not put off by how basic our room was.
More annoying was the fact that our balcony overlooked a small road which got quite noisy at times, and was opposite a house which was in the process of being built. Not much you can do about these things though.
The hotel has a bar, restaurant (snack bar during the day), swimming pool and table football and pool table.
Sun loungers number about a dozen and cost a euro each to hire for the day. If you're not up early enough then you've no chance of getting one and you'll have to go to the beach instead where a lounger will cost you about 3.50 euros for the day.
The hotel is a 30 minutes stroll (or a 3 or 4 euro taxi ride for the young, elderly or just plain lazy) from the old town of Rhodes, Mandraki harbour, and the 'windy beach'.
There are plenty of places to eat and drink in both the old town and the new town. I'm not normally one to stand in the street staring at menus outside restaurants, if I like the look of a place then I go in. However, I found that a lot of places had almost identical menus, and I got into the habit of studying the menu before deciding on somewhere.
Another advantage of seeing the menu before being seated is knowing how much you are going to pay for drinks. We had an afternoon drink in a bar in the old town and ordered two 'big beers' and were brought 2 one-litre steins which set us back 18 euros for the two. Mostly we found we could have a couple of drinks, a starter and a main for less than 30 euros.
Another thing we found was the size of the portions varied wildly. In one restaurant I had a greek salad for starters that was so big, I didn't feel like the main course after it.
During our week in Rhodes we went on a coach tour of the island which took us to the ancient acropolis at Kamieros, valley of the butterflies and various other locations, spent the day at Tsambika beach, went to Lindos by boat and climbed to the acropolis at the top of the hill (you won't get me on a donkey!) and we still had another dozen places we wanted to go and see.
All in all I would recommend Rhodes Town to everyone, and the Panorama to young couples like ourselves who are not particulary bothered what the rooms are like. If you like to be able to step out of the hotel and be in the middle of all the action, or want a bit of luxury then look elsewhere.
Finally, I would like to say hello to the young couple who were staying in Faliraki who shared our taxi transfer to the harbour to go to Lindos by boat for the day on 29/06/04. We sincerely hope that you didn't get lumbered with the taxi fare on the way back!!

Very pleasant accommodation cleaned everyday and to a high standard. Fully tiled bathroom and very spacious rooms. Family run business and the staff were very friendly. Did not eat in the restaurant but was advised it was very good.
Set in a quiet location away from the centre but we enoyedd the walk into Rhodes Town Centre twice a day. Best restaurants are in the new town as they tend to be cheaper and of better quality than the ones in the old town.
Friendly snack bar for in the day situated on the beach, at the rear of the elvi night club. Enjoy cheap and cheerful lunch not to mention the amstel.Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and would not hesitate to use the same hotel.

Overall Hotel Rating:
arrived at hotel at 7am in morning after dragging our suitcases about 900 yards up a hilly, dusty road, through a rusty gate and past a small pool. the foyer was lovely, but small, consisting of reception area and bar with 2 giant sky tv screens, which we soon discovered were still on at 4 o clock in the morning. to our horror, we were given a room actually situated in the foyer, right next to the staircase. that put me off straighaway, to say i was gutted would be an understatement.
the room was shabby as hell, with a balcony view of a dusty road which proved to be really busy in the early mornings when we were all in bed trying to get some kip! several other guests complained to our rep at the same time as we did, but she just didn't want to know, not at all helpful. one guest actually told us that outside his balcony there was a shrub with a pair of apple catchers on them.(a large pair of knickers). although he complained to the rep, they remained outside his room all the time we were there. how pleasant!
the cleaners came each day and started on the floor above us, banging and shouting loudly, starting around 7-ish. although the sheets were changed regularly, the room was well below standard, with bare wires sticking out in the bathroom and gaps in the ceiling. when we went to shower, we had to hold the shower head as there was no holder for it. the decor was sadly lacking and as for the staff! if they smiled, i'm sure their faces would have cracked.
the only nice person was the italian waiter who was in charge of the small restaurant. he was lovely, always smiling and helpful.everyone we spoke to said that they would never come here again because the hotel was awful! the upside of the holiday was that all the guests were in the same unfortunate situation as ourselves and we met some fantastic people. most days we would all take off and go to the mediterranean beach which has a superb platform in the sea where you can jump off. (if you are brave enough).
the sea in rhodes is beautiful, the beaches were all great, clean with loads of sunloungers. old rhodes is really worth seeing, lots of things to see and do. bar street is a must, lots of people watching and great cocktails to drink. went on a boat trip down the coast with 4 stops where you could jump off the boat and swim in the bays, absolutely superb day. word of warning though, this trip was booked with the rep, it is actually much cheaper to go down to the harbour and book yourselves. same trip, but lots of euros cheaper.
the water park at faliraki is gorgeous, clean, spacious and well thought out. for small children there is a large themed area that they can safely play in. try the wave pool, it's absolutely hilarious. 17 of us went to the water park that day, caught the bus from rhodes town, really cheap, not much queueing. faliraki at night is worth a visit, not overly busy when we went, very clean place, nice beach. you have to try the sling shot ride, it's scary as hell!! another plus point was the food, i don't think we had a bad meal. the food is absolutely first class and lots of it. plenty of choice too -scandinavian, italian, chinese, greek etc, lovely.
overall, the holiday was the best yet, but that was because of the people we met. the accommodation was well below standard and not recommended at all. lunn poly sold us this holiday and this year i definitely will not be having a kosmar holiday. on our last day we had to vacate our room at 2.30 in the afternoon, although we weren't actually flying home until 6 o clock in the morning. although we arrived at the hotel at 7 on sunday morning, we only had 6 nights in the resort and has to spend saturday night up all night, as we didn't have a bed. we were all really shattered by the time we arrived home. so, don't do a night flight as it is a big con on the part of some holiday companies, but not all.
