The worse holiday ever.

The room was dirty. We had to ask for clean sheets on arrivel. The toilet would not flush and when it did it came back up the drain into the bathroom.A constant smell of sewage. And over run with cockroaches. The frige was hot and smelled of gas,Was told this would be fixed but it never happend. The owner is very rude and argumentive. He put my kids airbeds in the skip across the road along with many others,Strangers were walking away with them. The second saturday of our hoilday,I was evicted,He told me to leave in half an hour or he would throw every belonging of mine out.He said i had shouted abuse at his 5 yr old son which was totally un true.He then later told kosmar i had broken a glass on purpose and cellotaped it to the ground for other guests to walk on.

The rep was fantastic,But i was told he had done this before evicted all his guests. The rep said his behaviour had got much worse over the last year. And hes not happy as kosmar have not got him in the 2008 brochure. So why are guests still been sent here if they know his behaviour is like this.Quite a few other guests had many fall outs with him while we were there. He even hid the pool table equipment so guests could not play.He would switch the air con off from the main box so it could not be used in the day,Then blame it on power cuts. His air con was the most expensive in stegna.

My advice is to stay away.

Having read the reviews posted we arrived with some trepidation, but have to say that our fears were unfounded. We were greeted by the owner Sam and Marina his wife (who speaks excellent English having lived in England for many years). The apartments whilst basic, as most of the Greek Islands we have visited tend to be, were generally roomy and very clean although somewhat sparse of equipment although whenever we asked for anything that we were short of it was immediately provided. During the stay we got to know both Sam and Marina fairly well and found them both helpful and friendly.

Entertainment in Stegna is very limited, with next to no nightlife if that is what you want, but if you want a quiet holiday with plenty of Tavernas then you should not be dissapointed. We particularly liked The Knights Castle, Petronas, Aroma and Maria's and Nitponoz (which is a taverna frequented mainly by the locals).

If you read the other reviews, most people found the resort itself excellent and we would agree with this, the main disadvantage being you really need a car to get in and out of the resort. Car Hire is quite reasonable. To sum up we had excellent weather, excellent accomodation, and a great all round time and if visiting Rhodes again we would have no hesitation in returning to the Constantinos Apts.

Constantinos studios gives you basic accomodation, that is all you need as Stegna is a lovely place to stay. Apart from the cost of the air con being higher than I am used to and the odd power cut, then there really wasn't too much to complain about at the apartments.
Stegna beach is lovely and isn't spoilt by the daily influx of visiting boats, as they are only there for a few hours. We didn't have a bad meal in two weeks and if you hanker after a decent ";full english";, then Stegna Star is the place to go.
Read these reviews, but go to Constantinos and get to know Sam and his family with an open mind. I would definitely go again as would the rest of my party and many of the other satisfied guests we spoke to.

Having read some of the reviews about this accomodation we arrived with some trepidation! However, we had a very pleasant surprise.

The accomodation is basic but clean and spacious. The owners were fantastic and often went out of their way to provide for their customers ie taking them to the medical centre by car so that they didn't have to get a taxi. The pool was always clean and sunbeds were always available.

The resort itself is wonderful if all you want to do is relax. If you want nightlife then this isn't the place for you. Every restaurant served great and reasonably priced food and all the owners were very friendly.

I will be definately be returning later this year to the same accomodation.

We have been going to Rhodes twice a year for 9 years and the Constantinos apts do Kosmar no favours. The first apt we were given was ground floor poolside. It was filthy and the smell was awful, the cutlery was still covered in dried food, the fridge was dirty. The owner/ manager said he would get the floor mopped and that would put it right.I said no and we were given a room on the 2nd floor. This smelt much better but it was still dirty,so it was off to the supermarket for cleaning aids.
The room was ";cleaned"; Wed and Sat.The brush does'nt reach under the beds!!The owner/manager was rude and ignored us after the first few days. Pity, because Stegna is beautiful resort and is everything we love about Rhodes.
If you are thinking of staying at these apts my advice would be to think twice about it.

On our arrival in Stegna for 1 week from the 17th June 2006 we realised this was a small, quiet, but friendly resort.

The outside of our studios at the Constantinos looked good and the apartment offered basic accomodation only which we didn't mind as this is about the norm which is offered on many greek island holidays we've had before.

Before going on this holiday, many previous internet reports spoke passionately about the cleaning standards which seemed to be a constant black spot. Sheets were changed once in the week but no visible signs of the bath or toilet having been touched, were evident. We took our rubbish etc down to the main bins along Stegna beach around mid week not knowing IF our rooms had any specific time when they would be cleaned.

The pool of the apartment was good and the bar offered drinks but few snacks, but in the event we ate out each day from a good selection of tavernas such as 'Marias' , 'El Plo', (El Plo were exceptionally good) and a cocktail bar called 'Mercedes'.

With the location of this resort being remote only 1 bus per day would take you out of the resort (9 am) and the last bus from Rhodes Town, back, was at 3pm. Taxis' were another option but could proove expensive depending where it had to come from. For 3 days we hired a vehicle and were able to have that independance of getting around Rhodes to many of the fine attractions, such as, Lindos and the Akropolis, Lardos and a lovely monastery called 'Moni Theri'.

The village of Embona and sampling of wines at Emery Wines was an interesting trip for us. A must to see also was Prassonissi and the union of the 2 seas, the Aegean and the Mediterranean. The 'meeting' of the calm Med to the unruly Aegean.

Traveling one day to 'Filerimos' to see the Ackropolis at Islysos (An old monastery) and the Stations of the Cross, was a popular sight on the Island with many tourists enjoying some time here.

Stegna itself has a lovely beach which we used a few days when not making trips.

When we reached our final day's holiday we needed to vacate our rooms by 12 noon and as our coach to take us back to Rhodes Airport was not until 11.40 in the evening we stored our luggage in the reception area near the bar of these Studios and whiled away our time.

Offered was a hospitality toilet/shower, after 12 noon, but this was a real shock as only one light worked, there were no locks on the doors with a smell eminating, was horrendous. A lovely holiday overall but nevertheless spoilt when some basic cleaning was all that was required. A holiday maker who was staying on for a furthur week was going to mention to the cleaner the next day the state of affairs as we had found them.

The rep Helen was a very pleasant girl, most helpful but not being able to speak to her on the last day,( after discovering the nightmare which would confront us from the courtesy toilets etc,)realised she was assigned to airport duties, we hoped therefore the fellow holidaymaker we spoke to would make the point of the toilets.

The Constantinos Apartments are in a really good position in Stegna, just across from the beach. We had a lovely large two room apartment with a shared terrace. Although the apartment consisted of 3 double beds, there was only 4 plates and no cereal bowls, we had to improvise by using some cups for our breakfast. We found the room clean, but they do not supply bath towels, just one small hand towel, so ensure you pack some. We also had a small leak in the bathroom sink, which was made worse after the owner (or manager?) fixed it!! He did say he needed to call a plumber, but this never materialised, so we had to put a saucepan under the leak, although we were supplied with a larger one later in the week.

The pool is a nice size and was quite warm and there are loungers around the pool side. There is also a small pool bar selling drinks, never saw any food here though.

The owner (or manager? ) can be a bit argumentative at times and in fact had a blazing row with our Rep one day, but we never found out why. He seems to take it as personal insult if anyone complains about anything. Having said that, he was always alright with us.

We hired a car for the week, which was great and we travelled all over the island. Lindos in nice, but quite commercialised, Rhodes Town was very interesting and the Grand Masters Palace is worth a visit. Also lots of cafes to have a drink and watch the world go by. Also went to the end of the island where the Med and the Aegean meet. Great for windsurfing and water sports.

Stegna is a very quite resort, great if you want a holiday away from everything. Lots of travernas, we ate in a different one every night. You must visit Mercedes Cocktail Bar which has a great atmosphere and music. The staff are really friendly.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay, but you get what you pay for, dont go here if you expect 5 star facilities.

We were a little worried about the apartments after reading some reviews, but we went open minded and were pleasently surprised.

Our studios were very clean, but basic, yes, we did have to supply our own toilet paper and you are only supplied with a small towel each in the studio, but we took toilet paper and an extra towel with us. Also the cooking utensils are very basic, but if like us we eat out all the time. The hotel owner and bar man were very friendly. The pool was clean and you could always get a sunbed at different times of the day. We were allowed to keep one of our 2 studios for 30 euros on our last day until 10.30pm as we were not being picked up until 11.50pm for th airport. The beach is across the road from the apartments and the sea is warm, no problem to get sunbeds. Every day 2 or 3 day trip boats arrive about 12 noon for its tourists to disembark and have lunch at a nearby Taverna only opened for them, they return to the boats about 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

There are plenty of places to eat out at and all very good. We visited Rhodes old town one day, very nice, but full of shops selling the same things, and also rather expensive to eat or drink. Stegna is a quiet resort so dont go expecting night life as it is very low key. If you like lazing on the beach all day and having a meal and a few wines in the evening amongst the Greek people this could be the place for you. Our rep. Jean was fantastic always had time for a chat and was very helpful. The only down side to the holiday was our flights which were changed twice and our return flight was at 2.50am and delayed by 40 mins.
