Rhodes is a lovely island - its people friendly and accommodating. Theres a real lay back feel to everything.
BUT.... the Euroxenia summer dream apartments are not the place to experience it!

We arrived on 2/8/07 for a weeks all inclusive break to chill after a hard six months in work.
the rooms are adequate but ours did not have enough room to swing a cat- anyway we just thought - OK- its a place to base ourselves and just to sleep/wash - no chance. No hot water for 5 out of the 7 days we were there and no sleep for six nights out of seven- noisy guests drunk , shouting fighting in their rooms at 2-3am does not make for a peaceful holiday. the manager stated that it was only a 3star and did not have security patrolling the rooms but other hotels would have at least some control over a few spoiling the majority's holidays- the water was another matter - he tried to make out that we were the only complainants and that there was a problem with solar power - sun was out 10hours and about 40 degrees!!!

We spent fruitless attempts to contact our rep and medhotels who made no response and also talked to many other UK guests who were all experiencing the cold water thing but not the noisy neighbours.Thery also said the holiday company gave no response.

We booked a last minite holiday all inclusive to Rhodes Summer dream from Bristol. Tholos is a very quiet area with just a few bar's Shops,Resturants.Beach is pebbley and we needed water shoes for going in the sea. We felt the room was very basic, Wardrobe, Dresser, 2 single beds with very Hard uncomfortbale matttresses, Bathroom Not very clean, with Hand Held shower.

Resturant Very small for size of Hotel, food selection very poor compared with other previous holidays, Nothing labeled unsure what you were eating at times.
Pool area- Not very clean, only about 40 sunbeds, some of which were broken, All beds were gone by 10am. Pool bar open from 10.30 - 6pm. Bar tender very good worked from 10am - 6pm, and pool area was open until 7pm and area was left uncleaned until the following morning, lots of Drinks Ashtrays etc left at pool bar and surrounding area. The only daytime snacks at the pool bar was dried out Cake and the ossasional dry sandwich. No ice lolly's for children which we though very poor for all inclusive even though we did'nt have children.
The only entertainment was Kareoke on Tues and Thurs, the host was a young lad who made it a very enjoyable evening.

Rhodes Town is lovely for a day out there is a harbour and shopping, in the main area and the old Town just a few minute's walk away from the harbour is a must, A Bus from the main road near the hotel into Rhodes costs just 2.20 Euros.

We did enjoy Rhodes and would return again but not to this Hotel or resort, we would try Ixia next time, which looks to have a little more going on and more Hotel to choose from. The Hotel was a rated 3 star I would only rate it 2 star.

oh dear where shall i start. we booked late with uk travelshop. They didn't send a brochure however we found some pics on the internet thought it looked very nice. we arrived at 6:30am on august 27th 2006. We was not pleased with what we saw. The front of the hotel was nothing like we had seen it was a shack.
walked through to reception had a greek man on desk didnt speak much english. showed to our room. We have a 1 year old daughter and they put us up on the first floor so we had to carry the buggy up 3 flights of stairs. We walked past the pool it was small and a small baby pool. The pool bar looked grubby. There were 5/6 stray cats roaming around which looked flea ridden and they were called the 'resident cats'. Did not like that at all.

our room was small you couldn't swing a cat in it. There was loose wiring hanging out of the radio which was near our heads where you sleep. We were promised kitchen and diner. just got a double bed, cot, wardrobe and dresser. Bathroom was dirty. We asked to transfer hotels because of the state of it but they couldn't do it. Manageress became unfriendly towards us after we complained. she would just ignore us. we got moved to another room on the ground floor. room was not better had a broken toilet seat. air conditioning was leaking, had birds nests behind the air coditioning units on each balcony, patio door wouldn't lock, front door didn't lock, cleaners left our door open twice we had to complain.

went to have some breakfast, we had to walk past the pool every day. there was a huge cock roach floating in it and the most disgusting sewage smell circulated the pool area. found restaurant 6 stair cases up so we had to carry the buggy up the stairs every day as there were no lifts. there were flies all over the place.
food looked awful. we were supposed to be served by an al la cart chef but we had to serve our selves. same stuff for breakfast every day, over cooked eggs, undercooked mini sausages dry beans. We skipped breakfast and ate a full english in an australian bar called dundees. it was lovely.
went to look at beach, massive pebbles not ideal for children.

food- boring same thing every day pasta bolgneise, chips, bread, meat may change form chicken to lamb occasionally, jelly, ice cream, fruit. We ate else where most days even though we were all inclusive.
bar only served beer and 5 cocktails as part of all inclusive, smirnoff ice didn't count. snacks came out at 4pm by pool. cold pizza and cakes. nothing else was on offer during the day so we bought our own snacks.
absolutely no entertainment. every night we went to a bar bout 10 mins down the road called malibus which was a lovely cocktail bar, people very friendly, cocktails delicious highly recommend that bar.

we hired a car for the week just to get away from the shambolic hotel. we enjoyed going to faliraki only 20 mins away. good beaches for families and lots to do and plenty of places to eat they have a macdonalds, Rhodes town was really good about half hour way, have a castle and harbour and lots of places to eat.
went to tsambiki beach on east coast, a beautiful beach good for snorkling and good for children.
we got bored by the end of the week not much to do when you've done every thing. Tholus is boring and the hotel was isolated.

rodos gold is disappointing. staff follow you and hassle you. not much to look at. aquarium in rhodes town is a waste of money its like looking at fish in a pet shop but a pet shop has more tropical fish.
overall the holiday was disappointing, shambolic. we managed to spend £600 in a week even though we were all inclusive because we ate out most times and we tried to stay away from the hotel.

In total we had three rooms altogether, all of which got no better as they went along. We had 3rd room due to checking out midday when our flight was 4am next morning. even though we had paid for seven nights which this night would have been the seventh, we still had to pay an exra 30 euros!

we do not recommend this resort to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

very basic hotel not suitable for families because there is nothing for kids and most of the children staying there are from holland or poland. the pavements are dangerous and the swimming pool is 5 ft deep at the shallow end. there is a kids pool but its not very big. there is no entertainment only karaoke on friday night. the only entertainment was watching the kittens play fighting. the exchange students work very hard and they are always pleasant.

the food was dissapointing breakfast being the worst meal of the day. the restaurant is too small sometimes you have to wait for a table. also there is not enough sunbeds around the pool area. room smelt of damp and the beds are very hard. the resort of Tholos does not have much to offer a few shops and tavernas. small shingle beach oh and a power station. a visit to rhodes town is worth it for only 2.10 euros and its about 30 mins away. it wasnt a terrible holiday but expected at least 3 star standard and got maybe 2 star.

on the whole if you go to Rhodes dont go on th west coast go on the east coast.

After reading reviews for Summer Dream were really not expecting much at all. Pleasant hotel, very quiet area, excellent staff (mostly young students who did their best)and acceptable basic Greek food. Very clean rooms and reasonable size.

All inclusive - no snacks apart from biscuits and cake in the afternoon with pizza at 4.00 pm, so not your usual AI package. However there is plenty to eat at mealtimes. Try out the local dishes. No good if you are expecting English type menus.

Good swimming pool but we got a lot of insect bites not sure where from.

If you have booked don't worry it is fine. Just accept it is a simple hotel but it is fairly roomy.

Enjoy.

My wife and I were looking for a nice quiet break to enjoy the sun.......It is probably best to break it down as follows:-

ROOMS
Our room was cleaned on a regular basis but not to a particular high standard. We did hear of other guests complaining but this wasn't a major issue.

SERVICE
All the staff were eager to please and very helpful, doing their best despite the complaints about the food which will be covered later. Andrew/Andraeus, the restaurant manager was extremely helpful and friendly despite undergoing a constant stream of complaints involving the variety of food on offer.

LOCATION
It is a 5 minute walk to Tholos Beach which was at the end of the road and across the main road. It was a 30 min bus ride to Rhodes town. There is not a lot on offer in Tholos itself apart from a few taverners but as the Summer Dream is classed as an All Inclusive Hotel this shouldn't be a problem.

FOOD
The hotel had undergone a complete change of staff only six weeks prior to our arival and the food was definately the low point of the holiday.
Having said this, the greek owners of the hotel visited while we were there and were asking several of the guests their opinion on what could be done to improve the variety of food on offer.
Apparently the food ordered by the hotel should have been changed once the guests started paying high season prices, but had not. After the visit of the owners, there was a definate improvement in the variety of food offered during our last three days of the holiday.

Pizza was on offer at the pool bar which consisted of four trays of cold pizza, cheese, peppers and mushrooms.
This didn't improve at all during our stay.

BEACH
It is a pebble beach which is a 5 min walk, it has about 10 sunbeds on it and little shack. Nice and quiet with a good breeze.(Didn't visit the beach but was told about it.

POOL
There was a very small kids pool and a much larger main pool.
One issue with the main pool was that the shallow end was approximately a metre and a half deep so not suitable for non swimmers and small children.

DRINKS
All local drinks (Lager, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks were included in the All Inclusive deal but a cocktail list was available at the main bar but this was not available as part of the All Inclusive deal.

Entertainment

Karioke twice a week.... That's it !!

Nothing to do for the kids other than swim in the pool(if they can swim)and if they are lucky there is a stray cat to play with that appears at pizza time.

I can see this hotel has the possibility of being a really good All Inclusive Hotel in the future as it has a very small and friendly feel to it.

Should really be marketed as an ideal place for adults/couples as there is a lot of work to be done to make this an ideal place for the kids.

Overall, despite the lack of variety in the food department that seemed to be improving, we had a really relaxing enjoyable holiday.

arrived at 1am sunday morning only to be told that there was a problem with the plumbing moved to a hotel down the road for a night. In the morning found out that there were eight of us.no problem with plumbing but hotel had overbooked.

Room was clean when we finally got in but the beds were not changed all week i had to ask for the towels be be changed two days before we come home.About a third of the sunbeds are split and damaged the shallow end of the pool is 5footdeep bad luck if you cant swim.

Food not very good never hot poor choice. This was an all incl but the bar staff could not get the hang of it on the night it was no glass no drink and if you wanted two drinks you had no chance.no entertainment but made a lot of friends. Some nice eating places on the main road at least you wont starve.

Would not recommend to anyone.
