Good base, recommend car hire. Would have liked to try the Captain's BBQ but with smallchildren we gave it a miss. Lot's to see around the island. The local beach was fine for families but a 10/15 minute drive takes you to PsilliAmos (not necessarily the correct spelling) which is ideal for small children, shallow, sandy and a lovely place. Eating out you must try Loukalis directly opposite the Aspres (don't be put off by the outside) it was superb and we wished we found it in week one.
Lovely peaceful place to stay. Warm and friendly for families. Basic but comfortable if you know Greek Islands and are used to the facilities. Lovely family who run and nothing is too much trouble. We liked the mix of nationalities. Location fine as we like...
Lovely peaceful place to stay. Warm and friendly for families. Basic but comfortable if you know Greek Islands and are used to the facilities. Lovely family who run and nothing is too much trouble. We liked the mix of nationalities. Location fine as we like to stroll in the evenings and we were 10 minutes from the centre.
Ideal location for families or couples wanting a quiet relaxing holiday.

Now back home after our 3rd holiday at Mary Apartments, we had a fantastic holiday, total relaxation.Filimon, Evangelista, Nicos and Mary make us feel part of their family every time we go. The hotel and rooms are lovely, clean and spacious. Had some great evenings sat at the pool bar putting the world to right with Filimon and some of the other hotel guests. Would definately recomend Mary Apartments for a relaxing holiday.

Just spent 2 weeks in Samos at Hotel Mary, Filimon,Evangelista, Nicos and Mary were absolutely fantastic hosts and made us feel really welcome, booked the holiday independently where everything was arranged for us by Filimon, from having a taxi waiting at the airport on the day of arrival to arranging car hire for us whilst we were on the island, location was perfect with the beach only 2 minutes from the hotel, all the restuarants and supermarkets were all on the main road which is the coast road, recommended places to eat, Nostas, Chesters and for a totally greek experience try Annas, no menu to look at and even the bill is worked out on the table cloth at the end of the night! Places to visit, Samos town, Karvalossi, Pythagario in the evening where there are lots of restuarants along the harbour front, plus bars to sit at and watch the world go by. If its a beach holiday you require then Psilli Amos is the sandiest beach on the island and only 3 kilometres from the hotel, slightly to far to walk. Filimon, Evangelista, Nicos and Mary treat you as part of their own family and whilst we were there they even cooked us a traditional greek meal, many nights were spent propping up the pool bar and socialising with the family and other guests where spontaneous greek dancing would then pursue. All in all an excellent holiday and we will be definitley being going back, and if you decide to try this hotel you will not be disappointed!

Found a nice bar called the Parrot which was near to us. He had internet and wireless which for very useful for the kids, he also had a pool table and darts not to mention the best cocktails ever had in Greece!! We would definatly recommend Samos to our friends and family.
The best food was the Vrosy and Nikos the pizzaman.

Stayed at Villa Anna in July. Apartments were clean and bright with small but adequate balconies on first floor. Aircraft noise was minimal and no night flights. The pool area was really nice, never packed and with a relaxing feel. The pool bar was only open from 11am - 6pm but was reasonably priced for drinks and limited food options. We found George the barman very friendly as were the rest of the family. The apartments are situated just off a main road and the walk to Pythagoria takes around 20 minutes along that road. We found Pythagoria a great place to spend an evening, many restaurants and bars lining the harbour. The food was generally good and well priced. The italian Casa Roma was excellent as was the Elia which always had a nightly special. The taxi back was a reasonable 3 euros. All in all, a good choice for a relaxing holiday on a pretty island, nearby Potaki beach is about a ten minute walk and is long and pebbly. The sea was clean and calm, great for swimming. Would return to Villa Anna but would probably like to see diferent parts of the island. I agree with earlier comments about the air con, now 7 euros a night.
Resort I enjoyed the resort because it was so quiet and peaceful, but it was also really easy to get into Pythogoria which has dozens of bars and restaurants plus a lovely port and harbour where you can sit and watch small sailing boats come and go.

We cannot believe that any island could push Kefalonia into 2nd place but Samos has achieved that in our opinion. Ileana is an absolute gem nothing is too much effort for her to make you welcome, she even baked a delicious birthday cake for a special birthday surprise (it was superb). The apartments whilst a little basic were nevertheless spacious and spotlessly clean and seviced every two days,we would happily recommend anyone to stay at the apartments. Ireon is a super village for chilling out but if you fancy a little more activity there are other places are within easy reach. We have been back in the U.K. for 4 days and have already reserved our apartment for 2009 and also made enquries about flights such is our thinking for our early 2009 holiday, have a look at Ileana,s web site for all info it is 100% factual. Thanks Ileana we will see you in 2009 you made our holiday one of the best ever.

Ireon itself is fantastic, so laid back and unhurried, I have certainly found my piece of paradise !!The hotel is 3 minutes walk away from the centre of Ireon. and you can walk all the way by the sea, most relaxing, and flat, no hills around here. Ireon is lovely and peaceful at night, but gets a bit busier at night as the locals like to eat in Ireon as there are many good restaurants as well as The Garden Restaurant at Hotel Cohyli. The airport is 10 minutes away, yes you do get some aircraft noise during the day, only 3 or 4 land, and thats only a couple of days a week, but when YOU land you're only a short taxi ride away (about 8 euros) and your holiday starts straight away!

I have stayed at the lovely Cohyli Hotel 3 times now, and every time it gets better. Christina is one of the friendliest people on the island, and her cooking is fantastic!! Her brother catches fish everyday, which she and her mother turn into the most tasty meals, along with all the other traditional greek foods. The rooms are spotless, and have just been modernised throughout. We have had a great time, thanks again, see you soon, September with a little luck!!!

The quayside bars/restaurants are too expensive, though this is to be expected due to their location. Gregory does the best coffee with a unique sense of humour.
Those whose tastes transcend popular and disco music, will miss out unless they seek out the Efzin cafebar, beyond the harbour. The upstairs bar is run by Manolis who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of, and love for, jazz and blues. The place is cool beyond words!

The studios have been equipped with safe deposits for years. What, then, is the justification of a 20% increase in the charge from 10 to 12 euro per week?
Also, the air conditioning is antiquated, and controlled centrally. Therefore it essentially acts only as a fan, disturbing the air because the central control is set far too hot. It follows that the management are charging top dollar for a poor service.

We stayed at the Pelagos apartments in Skala on Kefalonia from 20/05/08 to 03/06/08 and had one of our best holidays yet. The family who own the apartments could not help us enough. They were kind, friendly and helpful at all times. The apartments are roomy and kept very clean. The addition of the pool is a real bonus, a good suntrap with an outside bar offering snacks, icecreams and drinks. The walk into the village is approx 10 minutes with wild fennel and thyme growing along the roadside. The location is nice and quiet in the evenings and I would not hesitate in staying there again. I miss it already!!! Skala is a little gem.
