"Quiet Haven"

Resort I enjoyed the resort because it was so quiet and peaceful, but it was also really easy to get into Pythogoria which has dozens of bars and restaurants plus a lovely port and harbour where you can sit and watch small sailing boats come and go.

We cannot believe that any island could push Kefalonia into 2nd place but Samos has achieved that in our opinion. Ileana is an absolute gem nothing is too much effort for her to make you welcome, she even baked a delicious birthday cake for a special birthday surprise (it was superb). The apartments whilst a little basic were nevertheless spacious and spotlessly clean and seviced every two days,we would happily recommend anyone to stay at the apartments. Ireon is a super village for chilling out but if you fancy a little more activity there are other places are within easy reach. We have been back in the U.K. for 4 days and have already reserved our apartment for 2009 and also made enquries about flights such is our thinking for our early 2009 holiday, have a look at Ileana,s web site for all info it is 100% factual. Thanks Ileana we will see you in 2009 you made our holiday one of the best ever.

Ireon itself is fantastic, so laid back and unhurried, I have certainly found my piece of paradise !!The hotel is 3 minutes walk away from the centre of Ireon. and you can walk all the way by the sea, most relaxing, and flat, no hills around here. Ireon is lovely and peaceful at night, but gets a bit busier at night as the locals like to eat in Ireon as there are many good restaurants as well as The Garden Restaurant at Hotel Cohyli. The airport is 10 minutes away, yes you do get some aircraft noise during the day, only 3 or 4 land, and thats only a couple of days a week, but when YOU land you're only a short taxi ride away (about 8 euros) and your holiday starts straight away!

I have stayed at the lovely Cohyli Hotel 3 times now, and every time it gets better. Christina is one of the friendliest people on the island, and her cooking is fantastic!! Her brother catches fish everyday, which she and her mother turn into the most tasty meals, along with all the other traditional greek foods. The rooms are spotless, and have just been modernised throughout. We have had a great time, thanks again, see you soon, September with a little luck!!!

The Sunrise Hotel is a wonderful place, Poppi and her family make you feel very welcome from the minute you arrive to the minute you leave! Ireon is a peaceful resort but with enough Tavernas and bars to make a different choice each night. We would highly recommend car or scooter hire as Samos is an easy Island to travel around. Book flights and hotel independently, just type in Sunrise Hotel on Google for a memorable holiday!

We have been to Samos many times and this was our second visit to the Eleana Apartments in Ireon. We were welcomed on our arrival by the owner, Eleana, who appeared genuinely pleased to see us back. The apartments are set just back from the seafront, 50 metres from the main square and surrounding restaurants and bars. Very clean accommodation is provided, fans are available to hire, and kitchen facilities are also provided. Any one who actually cooks on holiday wants their head testing in my book, with all the great local food available in the restaurants, but if you want to, the facilities are up to it.

The resort is quiet and if you want a relaxing non stressed holiday, this is the place to be. There are enough restaurants and bars for a different choice most nights, if you like to flit about. They are all good, and 1 or 2 stick out as better, but I won't name them here, because next time I go you might be there and take the last table!!! If you are the sort to venture out, Pythogoria is just down the road and is the best ";busy"; resort on the island. You can get there by Bus or Taxi, or you can hire bikes and cars in Ireon. Going around the island is easy in a car or on a scooter, we've done both, it's fairly busy in August /September but out of seasons there is very little traffic to bother you. Next round the island after Pythogoria is Samos which is the capital and harbour. Ferries come in here and you can island hop from for the day if you wish. It has a lot of shops and cafes, but it's not really a touristy type place, well not to me, a lot of the cafes are full of Greek teenagers on certain days, but it's a great place to shop! From there on there are lots of little bays, beautiful bays where you can get something to eat and drink, some are almost deserted certain days, which we love! If you are prepared to drive this is a beautiful island with lots of surprises!

If you want to go to Ireon, book a flight and ring The Eleana direct, they have a website . The village is only 15 minutes in a Taxi from the airport. Manos don't go there anymore. Rumour has it that tour companies only make money if they get you on trips, and the trouble with Ireon is its so nice no-one wants to leave! A lovely unspoilt quiet island I would recommend to anyone who wants a well earned break. PS Get to Kokkari if you can, about 30 minutes from Samos, a beautiful place, with some great restaurants and bars.

Booked via Internet and their website. Poppi and her family made us very welcome in their seafront hotel. It is very aptly called the Sunrise, as the view from our balcony in the morning was spectacular. The sun rose over Turkey across the water from Ireon.
With views over both the village and the small harbour there was plenty to see whilst relaxing on the balcony.
Our room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Air conditioning was included in the price of the room and breakfast.

Breakfast was served on the terrace overlooking the sea, as were evening drinks from the bar.
Small friendly resort, a couple of small pebbly beaches, crystal clear water, with a selection of tavernas and a few bars, ideal for a relaxing holiday.
We had a brilliant stay and highly recommend this hotel and resort.
