Avis car hire were very helpful and we got a good deal on a jeep!!

Found a nice bar called the Parrot which was near to us. He had internet and wireless which for very useful for the kids, he also had a pool table and darts not to mention the best cocktails ever had in Greece!! We would definatly recommend Samos to our friends and family.

The best food was the Vrosy and Nikos the pizzaman.

Had a wonderfully relaxing holiday at the Evagelistria apartments ( no ";N"; in the Greek) in Kampos. Apartments were clean, well run and Rania and family made you very welcome. Unfortunately there is no pool bar and therefore it makes it more difficult to mix with others and find out where the best tavernas, beaches etc are.

Apartments are very close to the beach which is fairly quiet towards the end of the season. Lots of good tavernas but would recommend ";The Blue Bucket";, Rinas and Angelos (especially the Dolmades made from zucchini flowers rather than vine leaves). Those nearer Votsalakia are not so good. Fish is good on the island - Kostas at the Blue Bucket does excellent Red Snapper and Merides(small fish like whitebait) are good at Angelos. also had good fish meals at Ormos and Balos but can't remember name of tavernas.

Would recommend hiring a jeep or car to explore the island which has spectacular scenery. A drive to ";The End of the World"; taverna is interesting and a walk up the waterfalls at Potami is an experience but recommend wearing shoes that you don't mind getting wet as you have to wade through the water up the riverbed (in swimwear of course!!). Lots of the beaches on the island are stoney rather than sandy so ";pool Shoes";, available from the shops locally are recommended - we didn't buy any and wished we had by the end of the holiday.
The Captain's BBQ boat trip is a good value day out.

Overall- good accommodation and a ";Greek"; resort compared to those that are now much too commercialised.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Samos! Kambos is a quiet resort offering plenty of tavernas. The beach is a long pebble and sand stretch with no watersports! which suited our needs perfectly. The people in kambos and generally around the island show all the main characteristics of what we have become used to on many trips to this wonderful country.friendly, warm hearted and a genuine need to make visitors feel at home. Our stay at the evangelistria was perfect! the studio was extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean.Rania is the perfect hostess and takes time to make her guests feel like part of her family.

We would highly recommend any one who is seeking a quiet and relaxing holiday in beautifil surroundings to look no further than the evangelistria in Kambos!

We had a wonderful holiday. I have never been made to feel so welcome. Rania is an excellent hostess - attentive without being intrusive.

We had an apartment in a separate building in the garden - it was originally built for Rania by her father when she married and is now divided into 2 apartments. Ours was extremely well equipped - we even had a cheese grater and a colander - not that we did a lot of cooking. Why bother when the local tavernas offer such good food. We tried Chesters but found it a little pan-European. We preferred The Muses (turn off the main 'drag' by the Hermes Car hire and follow your nose!) This was real Greek food - and extremely fresh - we saw the chef go into the garden and pick the Cos lettuce for our salad!

We did do the trip to Ephesus and the ruins were stunning - however don't be tempted to go on the visit to a carpet factory. We were advised we would have the opportunity to watch carpets being made but it was really a high pressure sales pitch - and Turkish carpets at £3000+ were definitely not on our holiday budget!

We hired a jeep (from Hermes) for the whole holiday and had a wonderful time exploring - wandering in the mountains and finding beautiful deserted beaches on the coast. Visit Drakia to watch the sunset - well worth the trip. Do take a torch - Thomsons neglect to mention that the island has both scorpions and several species of poisonous snakes!

We found this the most friendly of all the Greek islands we have visited and will definitely be returning.
