"Pavlis Studios review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
what can i say about Kambos, been going there for 7 years,up to 4 times a year.fantastic resort made friends out there that i class as true FRIENDS.Sid and Nick at Chesters Parascos at the New centre and many more.everytime i go there i always meet people from the uk from past holidays.that feeling may be coming to an end(i hope not)it appears that the mayor is determined to close CHESTERS and NEW CENTRE,if he succeeds it will rip the resort appart, and stop a lot of people returning,i for one will consider looking for another island,i hope the coucil will see sense and sort this mess out.
I HOPE THAT I CAN CONTINUE TO ENJOY THE PLEASURES OF CHESTERS AND THE NEW CENTRE
all my best wishes CHRIS DALBY ROMFORD

Overall Hotel Rating:
Stayed at Pavlis Studios in Kambos. Had never heard of Samos but decided to give it a try. Accommodation was clean and the linen was changed three times a week. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Have to hire fans as no air conditioning - also have safety deposit box in room. The pool bar was brilliant and the man who ran it had a lovely dog that followed him everywhere. The only downside was the dog that the woman in the shop had (Chihauhau) always barking and chasing the men! Nice gentle breeze on the island, we had two days though where it was gale force - hold on to your hats and anything else that moves!!
Places to eat: Nightfall (Blue bucket), Olgas, Chesters. All good food and company. Reinas (next door to Pavlis) give it a miss if you can, they dont use menus but show you the food in the kitchen (not good if you dont fancy it as you cant really walk out, it would be a bit rude). They also work out the bill on the tablecloth!!!
Turn right outside the Pavlis and you will come to the best bakery ever, the pastries etc are to die for!
Trips: Did a couple, Patmos and the Discover Samos - too darn long - especially in the heat getting on and off the bus, wished we had known before we booked!! Also the Captains BBQ - the boat was so tiny you could hardly move around on it and they cram it full.
If you want a good trip go to chesters and go on their snorkelling trip - only 20 euros each (which includes 10 euros for the hire of the snorkelling gear), and you are out for nearly five hours! Daughter and boyfriend loved it.
All in all a great relaxing holiday, plenty of good food and beer/wine. Would go back to Samos definitely, but wouldnt do the trips again - too hot and too expensive.
Debbie the Thomson Rep was absolutely brilliant, really helpful. She even went out of her way to keep us informed of the bombing in London, just in case we had family connections. Samos would not be the same without a Rep like Debbie.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Pavlis Studios were clean and tidy when we arrived. Linen is changed twice a week, but that is the only times that rooms are cleaned, fine if you do not mind ditching your own rubbish, including the toilet paper waste. Oh, don't forget to buy your own toilet paper as there is only one roll supplied. Apart from those minor quibbles, the accommodation was fine.
Car hire:- may we say a big thank you to Stephanos at Hermes Rent-a-car, who did us a ten-day deal at a very good price, undercutting Thomsons recommended firm considerably. He was also very helpful in pointing out the pitfalls of the Greek insurance system and making sure we had full cover.
He took a lot of trouble to point out the local tourist spots with maps included.
Food:- Many local good restuarants, and food is generally very good. One of the best that we found was the Nightfall, easily identified by the Blue Bucket hanging outside, and very near to Pavlis Studios. Marios, Kostas and their family made us exceedingly welcome and we have no hesitation in sending others their way.
Chesters restuarant provided a couple of musicians playing guitar and bazouki on Friday nights but was a bit more expensive.All-in-all we had a lovely holiday and will definitely be going back.
Just one final thing - Samos can get a bit windy between July and August, but that shouldn't spoil your enjoyment of a lovely island.
