"Hotel Kouros Bay review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from a fantastic fortnight in Samos. We loved the island and he laid back atmosphere. The hotel was excellent. Not luxurious but very clean and in a perfect location away from the main road, and right on the beach. It was ideal as even if there were no sunbeds by the pool you could go onto the beach and it was only 2.50 Euros for a sunbed and no charge for the umbrella.
The hotel has a taverna which is open all day and evening. It was a bit more expensive than restaurants in the town so we didn't use it in the evening but was useful on the first night. The buffet breakfast was excellent again in provided in the restaurant overlooking the beach.
The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles and we found the rubber diving shoes we had taken really useful as getting into the sea was painless! There was no entertainment but if you did want activities then you could just walk into the Doryssa Beach Hotel a 2 minute walk along the beach. We did their water aerobic class and a Greek Quiz one night.
The evenings were spent in Pythagorio which was a 20 minute stroll along the pavement of a fairly busy road but past olive groves and fields - very pleasant. The town was fantastic with lovely restaruants and bars. We followed recommendations here on hols uncovered and never had a bad meal all the time we were there! We ate at; Palm Tree, Faros, Pythagorio Restaurant, Symposium, Esperides, Verena, La Strada pizzeria We always went to the Bar Lambisto on the front which was friendly. Taxi home only a couple of Euros so very easy.We didn't book our trips with Thomson as we found the prices were lower with Rhenia Tours (nr bottom of High Street on the left going down). They were really helpful and friendly and we saved lots of money! We went to Turkey to Ephesus, did the Samos Island Tour and just booked the hydrofoil to Patmos and then got a taxi for 4 Euros up to the monastery and walked down thro the pine trees.
We can wholeheartedly recommend Samos, Pythagorio and this hotel.
