"Villa Anna Studios, Pythagorio"

We were warmly welcomed by Anna the owner with a drink at the poolside bar. The accomodation is very clean with towels changed every other day and bedding twice weekly. All the bins are emptied daily. You will find everything that you need in your studio to make a simple meal but there is no kettle, just the usual Greek coffee pot.

Air-con is available in your room, you pay this to Anna, who will work out the current rate. As with all holiday accomodation in Greece, if there is a poolside bar, drinks including water must be purchased at the bar, if they are to be consumed poolside. This is due to the tax rates on such items.

If you have mobility problems this accomodation is not for you, there are stairs to be negotiated for both the ground and first floor.

The studios are set in gardens with many plants and trees giving shade to rooms and poolside. You will see notices, "beware floor slippery when wet". They don't just mean when mopped. There is a sprinkler system for the gardens, which comes on late evening, to either soak you or cause you to slip if caught unawares.

The pool area is clean and well laid out, with depths of water marked along the edge. The pool bar is open until around 5pm daily, you can get a light meal here at lunchtime. The accomodation caters for upto 28 people in 14 studios and you will find 28 sun loungers around the pool.

We found one major downside to staying at Anna's. We were on the ground floor and every morning, we were woken at around 7.40am by the maid sweeping and mopping our terrace. The one exception is Sunday when no cleaning is done.

It is possible to walk into Pythagorio of an evening, where you will find many tavernas of varying qualities. This year many of the tavernas have discovered the herb Dill, and they use it in varying quantities! It can be quite over powering in some meals and not authentic. At the bottom of the main street is the taxi rank, ideally situated for you to get back to your accomodation. If walking into town of an evening make certain you have put mosquito repellant on, as you will walk past the "wetlands".

Cleanliness, care and attention would be hard to beat anywhere else. Location very good especially if you enjoy a stroll. I could not find fault with this accomodation/location/ and Anna and Dmitri who are on site, if you should need them but who keep a discrete distance to enable the guests to enjoy their holidays unhindered. I would recommend Villa Anna to anyone seeking a value for money holiday. To date I have booked through the ill-fated Kosmar and this will be my first year with Thomson as agent but feel assured this will not affect the holiday in any detrimental way. Long Live Villa Anna.

Stayed at Villa Anna in July. Apartments were clean and bright with small but adequate balconies on first floor. Aircraft noise was minimal and no night flights. The pool area was really nice, never packed and with a relaxing feel. The pool bar was only open from 11am - 6pm but was reasonably priced for drinks and limited food options. We found George the barman very friendly as were the rest of the family. The apartments are situated just off a main road and the walk to Pythagoria takes around 20 minutes along that road. We found Pythagoria a great place to spend an evening, many restaurants and bars lining the harbour. The food was generally good and well priced. The italian Casa Roma was excellent as was the Elia which always had a nightly special. The taxi back was a reasonable 3 euros. All in all, a good choice for a relaxing holiday on a pretty island, nearby Potaki beach is about a ten minute walk and is long and pebbly. The sea was clean and calm, great for swimming. Would return to Villa Anna but would probably like to see diferent parts of the island. I agree with earlier comments about the air con, now 7 euros a night.

We have just returned from our second visit in a year to Villa Anna.

Cleanliness standards here are superb, with regular changes of linen and towels. The pool is clean and excellent.

However, we were a little disappointed by a couple of matters.

The studios have been equipped with safe deposits for years. What, then, is the justification of a 20% increase in the charge from 10 to 12 euro per week?

Also, the air conditioning is antiquated, and controlled centrally. Therefore it essentially acts only as a fan, disturbing the air because the central control is set far too hot. It follows that the management are charging top dollar for a poor service.

(oh and yes there are mozzies but not just at villa anna, as some may have appeared to think, mozzies are very common in all of greece ! ) Pythorgoria has fantastic restaurants and bars especially four seasons for food and remezzos for drinks,

On our fourth visit to lovley Samos,we decided to stay at the Villa Anna.

The good points, very clean, good sized apartments.

Bad points.Excessive plane noise, cannot consume any food/drink(even bottled water)around the pool unless it is bought from the pool bar, with very relaxed opening times although open it is not manned all the time.

Mosquitos.we have never seen so many and they are a nuisance and they do bite!!!!!

We found the staff unfriendly, the cleaning staff start very early and they are happy to clean your patio eventho you are still in bed and can be seen quite clearly through the mosquito screen
We could not hire a fan you can only have a/c at an extra cost.

We would not go back to the villa anna, but would return to samos once again in differenct accommodation.

3rd time in 3 years that we have visited Samos. This year stayed at Villa Anna instead of Anthis Apartments. Good choice Room was excellent, clean, large with all towels and sheets being changed every 2 - 3 days. Pool was spotless with loads of room for sunloungers. even though the place was fully booked the pool area never seemed crowded. The bar did open up quite late in the morning and was usually shut by 6pm. Mossies were plentiful so make sure you shut the screen on entering your room.

Will definately go back

Villa Anna appartments are pleasent and roomy, with a nice pool and pool bar. The bar was only open during the day and not at night time
You can hire a safe 20 euros for 14 nights The air con was 70 euros for 14 nights, which we didnt think it was worth it as it didnt blow very cold air.
It is a 10min stroll to Potokaki beach which is sand and pebble at one end then further into potokaki it is just pebbles.
The part of the beach where we went 2sunbeds and parosol was 5 euros.
We found the sea quite cold as it is fairly deep. We also bought some surf shoes (10e) which makes life more comfy for walking on pebbles

The beach is very long so it never gets to crowded, and there are a few beach bars to cater for your needs
Pythagorion is a good 20/25 min stroll from Villa Anna. There is a well lit footpath the whole way. there also plenty of taxis in the centre, cost only 2.50 euros back to Villa Anna
There are lots of tavernas and bars to eat and drink round the harbour
We chose to eat round the back streets where we found a lovely resturant called Esperides the food was excellent.
We chose to go on a boat trip to Samipoula with captain Andraos who takes his goat every where with him. Swimming and a bbq lunch is included for 23euros compared to Kosmar who charge 42 euros. We had a great day, just go down to the harbour get on his boat(Georgias).
Also took a trip with Captain Gerisimos to Psilli Ammos As soon as you leave the harbour out comes the samos wine and watermelon not just once but twice. Coming back (boat leaves at 4.30, you are given ouzo and water with tomatoes and cucumber to eat.
Psilli Ammos itself is a lovely sandy beach with tavernas. The sea is very warm and shallow. The trip cost us 10 euros each plus 5 euros for a parosol.

We found Pythagorion a lovely place, friendly and cheap with lots of nice boats. It would have been nice to have had a better bus service as you have to go to Samos Town to get a bus to other places
There are no lager louts or english bars! Just go and enjoy!

What a beautiful peaceful island. Not turisty but at the same time cosmopolitan. Pythagorion reminded me of Skiathos Town with less shops.

Villa Anna is right on the edge of Pythagorion, about 30 min walk to centre, and right at the back of the airport. The planes weren't a nuisance at all quite the opposite.

Villa Anna is a clean delightfull place but has 2 major flaws. There are no toilets by the pool, so if you have an upstairs room its quite inconvenient having to 'go'. The other is the pool bar. It doesnt open till around 11 in the morning, so if you wanted a coffee it was back to your room. It shut around 6 in the evening so we missed getting together over a drink with the other residents late in the evening, it was straight to bed! Plenty of mossies too so not wise to sit on balconies.

Would definately go back to Samos but maybe not to Villa Anna. Sorry.
