We had a ground floor room by the pool and pool bar. You could always get a sunbed around the pool - no towels put out before 8.45, which was a refreshing change. Pool towels are provided by the hotel, you just ask at reception. Breakfast was the only disappointment - the coffee was undrinkable and the food was uninspiring and dull. However the pool bar food at lunchtimes was good.

'Classico' restaurant was excellent and the only one we would recommend. We didnt like having our main courses served before we had finished our starters - this happened in 2 other restaurants we tried! Hire a care and go to Fira and Oia both are fantastic...

The Aegean Plaza is in a great location in Kamari, about five minutes walk to the beach and all the bars and restaurants. The hotel is said to be four star hotel and it is by no means a four star by UK standards in fact I would rate it more like a low 3 star. The rooms are very small but clean enough and you do get free air conditioning which is good. But the beds are absolutely awful, so hard and bumpy, very uncomfortable. On the plus side the pool was really nice but like one reviewer said the sun loungers have no padding so again more back agony. The breakfast buffet was okay, I want repeat what you can get as so many other people have reported this in their reviews, but it wasn't bad and better than just the usual stale role and rubber cheese I have had in other places. The pool bar was great though, the girl who works in the day was lovely and always smiling, even the bar snacks where quite good. I think all in all the hotel is in a great location, clean but not the most comfortable.

Kamari isn't the prettiest of places, when we first arrived the sights you are greeted with our dry, desolate areas with half built houses. It looks a bit of building site and well quite rough. However, once you get down to the seafront it is very nice inde...

Stayed 2 weeks at the Aegean Plaza, 1st two weeks in July 2008. The hotel itself has 3 pools, one across road which unfortunately we never used, the main pool and the quieter one around the back. The main pool was quite large with seperate kiddie section but we tended to use the other pool round the back as there wasn't as much 'sunbed saving' going on. At times around the larger pool all the beds were taken but no one was actually there except a few kids in the pool. The whole of the hotel was extremely clean and tidy and all the staff very friendly specially the blonde lady (can't remember her name) at the pool bar who worked very long hours.

The food at breakfast was good, it was the same every day but there was a good choice although the beans weren't always very warm. The food at the pool bar was excellent, my husband had the specials some days and said these were really good.

The hotel is in a good location, close enough to all the restuarants and bars but not right on top of them. We didn't have a bad meal whilst we were there, all the food was really good specially the cheese pies for starters. The restuarant called Nichteri (or the green one as we called it as it was the only one painted green) was lovely, probably the best meal we had. If you fancy sandwiches or jacket potatoes for lunch the Liver Bird bar is great and the chinese restuarant next door is really good if you fancy something different. For pitta and gyros you can't beat Kouly on the front, the guy who works there thinks he's Russell Brand but they food and service is fantastic and so is the cute little dog.

Whilst we were there was visited Oia for its beautiful sunsets. The hotel can organise you a coach for 12 euros to take you there and bring you back, only take a taxi if you fancy a dare devil ride! The sunsets are breathtaking but so are the prices if you eat there, best take a picnic or eat afterwards in resort. Also do not wear any kind of heels as the village is made up of lots of steps and they are quite slippy in places.

All in all we would go back tomorrow, both to Santorini and this hotel.

"Did I Go To The Same Hotel?"

I'm not sure how this hotel is receiving all the plaudits it has.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not in any way a BAD hotel. It's clean enough, certainly. The bathroom was in a decent condition, the towels are replaced every day and there's no nasties ...

Now don't get me wrong, it's not in any way a BAD hotel. It's clean enough, certainly. The bathroom was in a decent condition, the towels are replaced every day and there's no nasties to be found under the bed (unlike a certain hotel in Zante I could mention).

The staff are okay, if not exactly brimming with enthusiasm for the most part, but if you need something they do it, so no complaints there either.

It's in a very good location, no more than 100m from the seafront, but quiet (aside from the odd plane landing just to the right of the swimming pool, but I quite like the view of aircraft undercarriages).

However, this is supposed to be 4-star. Now I know it's in Greece and a Greek 4-star isn't equivalent to the same in Britain or Spain, for instance, but there are loads of touches missing that I would suggest show that this rating is too high.

For instance, there's no 'Do Not Disturb' sign for the door. A silly thing I know, but the poor maid doesn't need to see me creaming my what-nots of a morning does she?

The breakfast buffet is best described as predictable and familiar, in that you can guarantee exactly what it will consist of and the dishes will return day after day. The streaky bacon bits, the mini-sausage shaped objects, the cold beans, the omelette with red things in it and the omelette without red things in it. There is a selection of different coloured fluids that taste of water and coffee that tastes of washing up liquid. In all, a good spread, as long as you avoid the dolmades.

The rooms are actually rather small and basic. Not hopelessly so, but again, just not 4-star size or standard. The bathroom, likewise. The air con is free and the safe is only 1 Euro per day, so that's not bad.

There are three pools and numerous sunbeds. Sadly, there's precious little space for them all and they don't come with mattresses, so they are not especially comfortable. There are two smaller pools, free from children and wedding parties (a blessing in both cases), but neither amount to much. There's no need to reserve sunbeds, but it seems to be de rigueur and there are almost no Germans, so it must be someone else mustn't it, hmmmmmm? (Actually, there are lots of Scandinavians and Italians, so it's probably them, right guys?)

I know I've been a bit picky. Like I say, it's not a bad hotel at all. But 4-star? I think not

Kamari is okay I suppose.

There are lots of restaurants, although the ones on the seafront are not the best that we found. There are also a few cocktail bars, although none of the bars are exactly bouncing, so the resort really is best suited to coupl...

We decided to go to Santorini to get married and stayed in Kamari, an absolutly wonderful place, nice and quiet which is what we were looking for. The hotel was lovely and clean with the maids cleaning every minute of the day, they also had a laundry service. The pool was beautiful, very refreshing as it was always sunny and hot.The breakfast was a mixture of english and meats and cheeses which was nice. The bar was fab serving great food at lunch if you got peckish by the pool, the sparrows were always hungry aswell. The only thing that could have made it better was a bit of entertainment in the evenings at the hotel.

Kamari was very nice, restaurants busy all the time, we liked the seaside resturant especially, also no name and the boat house, lovely food, we enjoyed the local wine the best.
Visited Fira, the buses are an experience, especially on the way back, get back to the bus station as early as possible when the bus is due to avoid standing on them.Fira has amazing views of the old harbour, never seen anything like them before, stunning.Bit more expensive than kamari though.

We got married the the Santo Winery in Fira, so so pretty, they had a webcam so family could watch at home.
The flight was excellent, especially the turn over the water to land, how exciting, please give the captain a round of applause though!
met some wonderful people at the hotel.
Putting out the towels is still an issue with all holday makers, quite funny really.

We completely recommend Kamari as a lovely, quiet and safe place to stay, will visit again, wonderful.
