We stayed 4 nights in Villa Manos in sept 2005.
We arrived early morning and paid 30 euros to stay for 3 hours in a smelly room with staff constantly coming in and out.
We were then showed to a tiny room[We had prebooked a self catering studio]with no wardrobe,a fridge and a cooker with not a single cooking utensil in sight !
Following a complaint we wee givena room next to reception equipped [after asking] with a mini boiler,frying pan and a few bits of cutlery that had seen better days.
The room had cobwebs and cleaning was basic

The village of Katerados was uninteresting and was a 15 min walk along a narrow fast dangerous road which led to Thira town.
The TAVERNAS were not up to much,a could not care less attitude in the area in general unusual in Greece,to which I have been visiting for 20 years.
Villa Manos is situated at the side of the main road upon what seems to be the edhge of a run down Industrial estate.
We paid 30 euros a night and franky wish we had stayed elsewhere.

The Pension George is an excellent alternative to staying in expensive Fira. The village is quiet but there are a few bars etc. In any case the hotel is only 15 mins walk into the city centre. The rooms are large and spotlessly clean. The owners are very helpful and friendly. There is even a lovely swimming pool. Good value for money.
