We found these studios to be clean, well maintained and the owners welcoming and helpful. We had fresh towels/sheets every day and the cleaner also came in every day. There were plenty of sunloungers round the pool and we never had to suffer from 'sun bed baggers' ! The air conditioning is 5 euro per day but we get round this by taking a small fan of our own. One piece of advice is if you value your privacy and a bit of 'quite time' late in the afternoon/early evening do not ask for a ground floor apartment (as I did). Our doors opened literally straight out onto the pool and baby pool and we had catterwauling from the kids from 9am until 7.30pm every day of our second week and no privacy in our studio whatsoever. This is no reflection on the accommodation though and it was extremely quiet and relaxing at first. By the time I asked to be moved the place was full but the owners were helpful. We had hoped to avoid the kids by going before the schools broke up but people will always take their kids out of school regardless Im afraid. All said and done we would use this accomodation again without question.

Perivolos is a quiet village, with a strip of trendy and traditional bars and tavernas along the sea front. There is a good choice but some of the bars are quite expensive and since we visited in June, seemed to be very quiet - almost empty at times. We do not like a rowdy holiday but some atmosphere at night would have been better. The more traditional tavernas werent so empty however. Menus were of good choice and slightly more expensive than other Greek islands. The beach itself is very clean and has lots of natural looking parasols on it which blended in with the area. There are a handful of little supermarkets along the front, but they dont seem to sell anything more than water, snacks and souvenirs. 'Meterora' taverna is good value and has a great atmosphere, with a Greek night every Monday which is a must. The 'Tavern' (cant remember the Greek name of it) is also a very nice taverna. There is a bus which you can catch on the hour, at the end of the road to the left if you are looking at the sea. This bus takes you to Perissa and onto Thira. Thira is beautiful and has lots to see and do. If you want to visit Oia, you have to catch a different bus when you get to Thira. Perivolos is a lovely relaxing base, to soak up the sun or to visit the rest of the island.

The Abeloas studios are clean, comfortable and in a very sunny spot on the main road in Perivolos. The owner is a lovely, friendly lady. The rooms are cleaned every day, with the towels and bed being changed every other. You can have a room that faces the pool or like us, one that faces the fields at the back which is very quiet. There is no pool bar but you can then take your own food and drink to the pool, which has very warm water as it has the sun on it all day. There is no shade around the pool except for the umbrellas. The walk to the beach is about 5-10 minutes away but the only down side about these studios is the distance from the supermarket. If you do not hire a vehicle, it is about a 15-20 minute walk. There are only 10 or 12 rooms, so this accommodation is quiet, peaceful and cosy.

The accomodation is typical greek and very basic. On arrival I had to go out and buy plastic bowls and spoons. However the studio was cleaned daily and we had fresh towels every couple of days which we needed with a toddler and baby. The pool and comunal areas were immaculate with plenty of umberellas and sun loungers. The accomodation could really do with a pool bar and shop as the nearest mini market is around one mile away. The female manager sells water, pop, beer etc from Reception but beware - she charges double the price of the shops. The beach is around a 5-10 minute walk with a selection of beach bars and we can reccomend Popeys and Volcano to eat out.

We probably wouldnt go back to Perviols / Perissa with young children. There is very little to keep kids occupied.

We have just come back from Iliada Studios yesterday and thought we would update the reports already given on this website. We must admit that there seemed to be mixed views on the accomodation and Santorini however all we can do is offer our views and advice straight from the heart.

Firstly the accomodation. Our studio was basic but clean, we had everything we needed for our weeks stay. The rooms were cleaned every day and in fact on one day when we didnt want it done they seemed concerned that we didnt want it cleaned. The complex included a good size pool, plenty of room for sun loungers, a pool side bar and drink and snacks provided. There was also a little shop selling half priced items. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and they always had a smile on their faces: even the one that looked like Blakey from "; on the buses";!!

The apartment was 500 yards from the beach in one direction and the same again in the opposite direction to a small supermarket which also had a car hire place next door and arranged trips out at a fraction of the cost of first choice.

To get to the beach and restaurants just turn left out of the apartments and head to the beach. turn left at the t junction and head along the coast and the first place you will come to is called ";the best"; although we subsequently discovered that its food does not live up to its billing it was infact more than adequate and the staff there seemed pleasant and pleased to see us. ( infact, every night we walked past there one of the staff would always make a point to say hello and wave) You could be forgiven for thinking at this point that there is not much else to the resort becouse as you keep walking the bars and restaurants seem to become fewer and far between. however, keep going. Withing 15 minutes you will have walked to Perissa. At Perissa you will come across many bars and restaurants along the beach (basically, just keep heading towards the rock and the headland and you will come across many fantastic places to eat.) we favoured ";charlinas"; - great food, but a little pricey compared to the others (there are two Charlina's: make sure you stop at the second one) ";yazz"; great food but very small portions, ";aqua"; fabulous food and brilliant prices - you must try the souvlaki there - and the Acropolis which looks fantastic (and always full) and was very good too. In truth, you could spend a fortnight eating there and not go to the same place twice and still feel like there was more to see. If you want to buy souvinirs there must be 5 places to stop and buy/look and if you venture all the way to perissa and turn left, there is an entire street, leading away from the beach, that contains a coop and other places.

If you decide to leave the Iliada apartments head to the beach and turn right at the end of the road instead, you could walk for another 20 minutes past many more great bars and restaurants. you will have your favourite but we liked the bar ";meteora";. not that the food was that great but if you take one of their sun loungers they will bring you drinks straight to you on the beach for as much of they day as you like and teach you greek. It is worth popping inside though to experiance one of the islands star attractions in the shape of ";Irene"; Here is a woman who appears to defy all sense of fashion and rules over her place like Thatcher once did over this country.!! When she adds up your bill at the table, dont let her distract you with her banter or you may find your bill a little higher than you expected! ( this wasnt our experiance but others did mention this)

we do suggest that while you stay in santorini you actually get out of the pool and off the beech and get into a car and explore the island. If you turn right out of the apartment 5 mins up the road will get you to olympic car hire. 20 euros's will hire you a car for the day and you must visit Fira, Oia and Santo wines. Take your camera, loads of spare film/batteries/memory cards and enjoy the views. Fira is a bit pricey but not too bad, If you like shopping for jewelery this is mecca. ( advice to the guys: LEAVE YOUR CREDIT CARDS AT HOME!!) Oia is stunning and in our opinion nicer than Fira, and Santo wines is by far and away the cheapest way to enjoy the other of Santorini's Star attractions: the views and most impressively, the sunset. At santo's grab yourself some wine sit back and enjoy the show. A glass of wine will set you back a Euro, a tray of wine and cheese with olives and bread will not cost more than 10 euro's. The views over the volcano as the sun sets will be something that you will remember for ever so enjoy it

As we left the Iliada apartments, the staff all came out to say goodbye and shook everyones hand as we boarded the coach back to the airport. A nice touch. Also we found first choice to be first class. At gatwick we were checked in within 40 minutes - despite a queue of probably 200 people, the plane took off bang on time and even when we landed it was soo eficient that we were at the apartments withing an hour of landing. not what we expected at all. the rep was fairly inconspicious- but that suited us- and she was at the airport to make sure we got in the right queue for home. again we we were checked in within 20 mins.

All in all our experiance was very good. we left Santorini with heavy hearts and have said we would go back. we would consider iliada again without hesitation. our advice is just go. experiance what we have and you wont regret it.

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Iliada Studios and we will be returning next year!

The studios are cleaned daily and the family make sure that everything you need to enjoy your holiday is provided, the pool area is great, plenty of space and sunbeds. We walked into Perissa every evening to eat and found some great places our favourite being God's Garden, gorgeous food and very reasonably priced, other nice places were Cyclades, Finekas and Lava (which is on the sea front)we actually got to choose our food from the kitchen and not from a menu - very novel,we also had a fab pudding at Atlas! Thira (the capital) is a must to visit the scenery takes your breath away and although it was not the first time for us it is still breathtaking.

We hired bikes for a week from Mike's bikes in Perissa and cycled to the harbour at Vlichada which is well worth a visit. The 24 hour bakery in Perissa is really good value for money and the local wines - Lava and Atlantas are really tasty and well worth bringing home! We have visited quite a few Greek Islands and have enjoyed them all but there is definately something extra special about Santorina one of the shopkeepers in Perissa said ";the Island of Santorini is like a drug and you must keep returning for more "; I couldn't have put it more eloquently.

I would imagine we will be returning for many years to come.

Wasn't impressed first day as it was blowing a gale but after finding our bearings absoloutly fell in love with the island. The apartments were kept spotlessly clean and the staff are lovely.

The barbeque on Sunday nights is great. Irene, from the Meteora gave a welcoming speech lasting a good 20 minutes when we first arrived but she sort of grew on you after a few days. We chistened her 'Shelob' after the spider in 'Lord of the Rings' as she had the knack of dragging every passer by into the restaurant! It was a good 20 minutes walk to decent supermarket also the 24 hour bakery which sold the most delicious apple and cinnamon doughnuts and they always give a freebie with all purchases and are really polite.

The people of Santorina are very friendly, we lost our digital camera, having left it in the Tobacco Store whilst we purchased some cigars to tke home and the owner actually brought it back to the Meteora having recognised us from the photographs we had taken. How's that for honesty! Best places to eat were the Meteora, the Laturna in Perissa and the Question Bar was great for Belgian Beers. Get the local bus to Fira, only 1.70 euros, the shopping and views are great.Hope to go back next year as this is Greece at it's unspoit best!

This is advertised as a class A hotel, when in fact it would only rate 2 stars in my opinion.
The hotel is between 2 resorts which means you have a long walk to get anywhere. Beware if you book through a travel agent, as you could end up in a basement room - I have just spent 2 weeks in one. Other rooms on higher floors are crushed together and there appears to be very little privacy - sort of Butlins meets the Hobbit. The reception staff are surly and unhelpful.

On the plus side the pools are good, breakfast plentiful and the hotel is clean.
The island is very barren and not too clean, the resorts of Perissa and Perivolos are basic and consist of lines of shacks masquerading as bars and restaurants along a beach road. None to clean and all looking a bit tatty.
The main towns are a delight, but there is little else of interest. Views are pretty but do not make up for a boring and barren island. A 3 day stay would be more than enough.

Adding to the reviews as when we went away there were no reviews. I notice another party found the hotel and staff very pleasant. However, our group and many others at the time found the staff although pleasant enough, they were often petty. Family run hotel, but felt like we were being watched all the time. Everything had to be paid for immediately up front, before drinks etc even poured. Lots of signs about. Rooms were clean, but mainly done by one member of staff and often not completed until 6 at night, when you want to get ready to go out. Bar often closed early and was the most expensive in the resort. Greece is basic, but the shower facilites were very poor and cheaply made. Often lack of hot water, and the pool was so full of chlorine it bleached all the clothes green. Not enough staff and they were tired due to being towards the end of a long season.

Aside from that resort and island beautiful, agree that trips purchased locally by supermarket are better value, adn they do not charge for kids. Fira and Oia are a must to see. Try the massages on the beach, they are very good. Can be a bit windy in the evening, but still warm. Children loved it and definately plenty to do. Small but beautiful waterpart on the beach, go to T junction, turn left and carry on, will see signs. Just up from waterpark, very nice hotel, fantastic food, and very reasonable.

Having holidayed on different Greek islands for most of the last ten years or so we regard ourselves as seasoned Greek travellers. We have holidayed with both larger tour operators and the smaller specialists such as Kosmar and Olympic.

The resort of Perivolos is a small extension to the larger resort of Perissa with the two joined by one large black shingle beach. The resorts are very laid back by day and moderately quiet by night with a good choice of bars and taverna's.
The resorts are suited to both couples and families with Perivolos the quieter end of the beach and the more expensive due to lack of competition.

Sea View Studios were typical basic accomodation, room with basic furniture needs, a bathroom with wc and shower and a small kitchenette. Optional extras are aircon and safety deposit boxes. Despite the name very few rooms have a sea view.

We found the accomodation very good with rooms well cleaned and adequately equipped. The owner Leftkas claims not to speak English but can when required! The pool is medium in size and is very clean with ample sunbeds provided free.

The main downside to the holiday and also a finding in line with other writeups about this accomodation is the influence of the Meteora Taverna next to the Sea View Studios.
We arrived in the dark to be greeted by a mad hyperactive Lebanese lady ";Irene"; who welcomes guests on behalf of Lefkas the owner. (Olympic rep remains on coach and guests are directed to the accomodation).
Irene spends 15 minutes or a little longer giving you an overview of the Sea View Studios and the Meteora. 5 minutes is devoted to the Sea View and some 15 minutes to promoting and spinning up the Meteora. You don't need this hype......

In truth the Meteora is a very expensive place to eat and the food is very sub-standard. Prices are generally 25% dearer than other places and the bill is never the price you think. One couple waited 2 hours for a steak during our stay!
Olympic have received numerous complaints about Meteora and Irene but say it is out of their hands since the Sea View owner arranges this introduction himself.

The best advice is by all means stay at Sea View but avoid Meteroa and the Sea View Bar (Both are owned by Irene) and attitudes and issues at both places are similar - poor quality drink and food at high prices!.
Take a left turn out of Sea View and walk a quarter of a mile or so along the beach front road. Very soon you discover gems such as;
The Best (Fantastic food and cocktails)
Acropolis (Fantastic food and good value)
Atlantis (As Acropolis but smaller choice)
The Volcano (Good food and value)
Laterna in Perissa for good service and food.

Santorini is a beautiful place and the sunsets in Fira and Oia are not to be missed. A little more expensive than other Greek islands but worth the extra!

One other note - avoid booking trips through Olympic - the travel agents next to the Euro Market (Left turn out of Sea View and 1st left then 200 yards on rhs) does the same trips for around 30% less.

Just returned from a wonderful week in Santorini. If you are thinking about visiting for your holiday - just do it! The most beautiful place I have been without a doubt.

We stayed in Perivolos at the Robertos Apartments, had read some of the reviews here and was a little worried but to be honest it just helped to have the advice. Like when the daughter told me she would give me my change 'later' and then seemed to forget. Because of the advice here I realised it wasn't because she was forgetful so stuck to my guns and got my change!

Our apartment was clean and bins emptied daily (except Sunday) and was more than adequate for us. No problems with water - always warm but the flush could be a little dodgy sometimes.

We loved our resort - nice and quiet and we preferred it to Perissa, although if you wanted something a little livelier maybe Perissa is the place for you. Best places to eat were The Best (our favourite)and Meteora with 'Princess Irene' who was lovely but could make you jump out of your skin when she suddenly would blow her whistle mid mouthful!

Definitely would recommend a trip to Thira, if not for the ice cream at Cafe Classico overlooking the volcano - wonderful! We also went on the sunset cruise on our last night which was highly recommended - you must do this!

All in all a wonderful holiday and we cannot wait to go back!
