Stayed here in an apartment ( sleeps 2-4) in August 2008. Excellent accomodation .Scrupulously clean. Daily maid service. 2 pools.One for the kids and a quieter shaded area for us oldies ! Rooms are spacious with TV hairdryer cooking facilities. 1 ( rather expensive restuaraunt on site ) . Breakfast was 10 euros but all you could eat.Ok if you have a huge morning appetite. They also do dinner at a price but it is quite upmarket.!

Situated in a quieter end of Skopelos town but within easy walking distance of the centre. During the daytime the harbour area was OK but at night it was absolutely manic !! You can eat & drink until 1-2 am in the morning so dont worry if you are arriving on the late ferry as we did. (22.30 ). Have a walk around some of the side streets.We found a taverna called the owl where the food is home-cooked and delicious. ( well as far as greek food goes anyway). The most economical drinks were the home made white or red wine.. 500mls for 2.80 euros or 200mls of ouzo for 6 euros..add some water or lemonade ( 1.50 euros a bottle) and you are away !

Now, the downside. Hence my rating. The allegedly pedestrianised area at the harbour did not seem to apply to mopeds. !

The travel arrangements with Olympic were tenuous to say the very least ! We just about made the last ferry across from Skiathos.The return arrangements were even tougher. The flying cat 6 was taken out of service on the day of our return.So, our 13.00 pick up was changed to 0950am with an hours coach journey to Glossa.Ferried to Skiathos arriving at 12.00. The flight home was at 2040 so a rather long day hanging around skiathos.The flight was delayed by one hour so we arrived back in Manchester at 2315 pm. ( 2 hour time difference would have made it 0115 am in Greece). So from 0950 to 0015 is an awful long time from Skiathos to Manchester !! It could have been worse...the week before the Olympic travellers had to leave at 0700am for the same 2040 flight home !

Overall if I had to go to Skopelos again I would choose the same accomodation without a doubt. If you want a quiet relaxing time..skopelos is NOT the place to go in August.However, it has a certain charm, that, with a bit of exploring the back lanes, quickly grows on the traveller who is prepared to climb up some pretty long inclines .

We went to Skiathos in late July, me, my wife and two kids, we were staying in Megaliamos which was absolutely lovely the walk into Skiathos town itself took literally 5 minutes. The Beach there was nice although it was quite crowded. Skiathos really has something for everyone of all ages etc. If u like things noisy, crowded etc then you should go to the harbour, there plenty of taverna's clubs etc there, but if your not one for all the noise and prefer things a bit quieter theres plenty of little backstreets you can explore, which we did. They were full of character and all the local people are very friendy. Theres lots of little taverna's dotted around them. One which we loved was Ti Bakariaria (or something like tht) it took a while to find, but believe me it was worth it, the food was absolutely LOVELY! and the prices were reasonable and the waiters and chef were extremely friendly. But anyway as to the hotel itself, we stayed at the Poseidon apartments, which are up a rather steep hill, so anyone with walking difficulties or breathing problems etc, dont pick these apartments, but believe me the hill was well worth it just to see the views from the top, no matter which apartment you were staying in, the views were breathtaking. It's a family run buisness and everyone who works there are really nice and always stop to have a chat with you, the cleaners there do an amazing job everything is always sooo clean, the pool was nice and if you went down to the lower level there was a pool table, ping pong table (both free of charge) and shower and bathroom facilities. I can honestly say that out of all the hotels and apartments ive stayed in in my time these were by far the best. So if Your thinking about going to Skiathos you should definitely consider stayin here. It was my favourtie holidays and i would love to go back.

Just returned from a fab holiday at the oasis.Ignore the nitpickers who would not be happy in the ritz. We are a family of three generations. My sister and mum had previously stayed at the oasis and had loved it so much my family and I decided to try it along with my mum (again) and dad(who does not like going on holidays and is very difficult to please). I was slightly worried having read some reviews about mike not being child friendly. How wrong could I be the holiday was fantastic as were mike, his family and all of the staff. Infact when we arrived and mike saw my children in the pool he went to buy some new goggles so they could swim under water and not hurt their eyes. Everything positive you read about the oasis is true so I do not want to repeat what you have already read. What I loved about the oasis was the space I hate cramped outdoor areas and the space around the oasis is great especially for young children. We were in the gated area in a villa style apartment with my mum and dad in an apartment opposite, and the children could play happily on the grass and visit their grandparents safely whilst my husband and I sat on the patio or lay in a hammock. My eldest son loved the internet room and table tennis and my youngest loved everything and cried on the date on departure. I agree that mylos (windmill) restaurant is a great location for a cool drink whilst watching the planes as well as the beautiful scenery but for real excitement try the amaretto cafe slightly further along the road from mylos,(at the end of the runway). You will be blown away! Literally. My mum the coffee lover also rates their cappuccino as one of the best she has tried on the island. I could go on as I do love skiathos this being my third visit, my first to the oasis but definately not the last. Remember my hard to please dad he is getting ready for a trip to the travel agents to try to get booked for the oasis in may 09. Thanks mike and co keep up the good work. Hope to see you again soon.

We loved Skiathos it is one of the prettier greek islands,the location of the Hotel Paradise lends itself to stunning views,we booked the holiday only two days before and were given a room with an inland view but when we arrived we had a fabulous view over the bay.The people in the next room had also been told the same thing so a nice surprise!Of course the stunning location comes with a disadvantage which is the gruelling climb up to the hotel,we only did it once and it was a killer!And we are fit people who found the walk down no problem and walked into the town on several occasions.the hotel run a courtesy bus but we found it a pain having to rely on it,the first one to go isn't until 10o'clock so if you're an early bird like us it's too late but as I said we didn't mind the walk down to the beach but we found that a lot of people didn't like being tied to the bus times and a taxi back to the hotel was 9 euros not exactly cheap if you were using them every day,but apart from that the hotel was fine,very clean and we found nothing to complain about and would certainly recommend it.We did find Skiathos quite expensive compared to other islands ,eating out ,drinks etc. but all in all we had a lovely holiday and it has to be said that many people staying at the Paradise had stayed several times before but for ourselves we very rarely return to places we visit,there's a whole world out there to explore!!!

just got back from villa maria for the second time in two years and hoping to go again next year. we made some great friends there, angela and her family and staff made us very welcome, rooms were kept spotlessly clean with regular changes of towels and linen. try sytakis resturant on trulos main road for great food at a great price. if you want a relaxing holiday this is the place for you.....

Well we are back from Skiathos, not only our first holiday to Skiathos, but our 1st abroad! In one word - FANTASTIC! We went with First Choice, and everything ran like a dream. Booking on line, getting the tickets, the flight, the rep - just everything ran so smoothly. Arriving near Troulos to Areti Aparments, we were greated by a steep bumpy hill to walk up - not for those who like a stroll! But wow the views we amazing. From our balcony sea views all around, not just a distant view but miles of ocean. The apartment was very spacious and we were very impressed at how clean it was. Towels and sheets were changed everyday, and the pool was cleaned also. Alex at the bar was lovely, and made us feel very welcome. The Rep organised a jeep for us from a text message, and it turned up as arranged. Can't fault this holiday in any way. Well apart from the fact we did not want to come back. Our youngest daughter can now swim properly, and our eldest and hubby are hooked on snorkelling.

If you have not been to Skiathos - its a must. Make sure you hire a car for a couple of days to see the quieter beaches and views- def worth doing. Some roads are a bit scary but we were snapping with the camera at every turn.

We had an amazing time. the pool was kept really clean and so was the pool bar. the appartments were really clean.

pegasus and the avli were our favorite bars along the road to eat at.

The bar at the hotel was quite quiet but we had a really good time there. the owner vangelis was a very funny person but the barmaid joanna was the best. we got on with her really well and she made our evenings alot better!

i would recommend this hotel to anyone!

We started our 2 week holiday in 'Rhodes' but there was an earthquake there and we were a bit scared. We island hopped to Skiathos and stayed at these apartments for 8 nights. The climb up to the top was steep but we got used to it and had a fabulous view overlooking the mountains and the sea. The pool was always clean and there were plenty of sunbeds, no need to reserve them. The bar was ok, not manned as such but you could get soft drinks or alcoholic drinks and just list them in the honesty book. We paid the owners what we owed just before we left.

Skiathos is a beautiful island. We have been there 3 times now. Last two times in the resort of Agia Paraskevi. Both resorts nice but Troulos has a really nice beach and this was only about 10 mins walk from the apartments.

Lots of restaurants, all of them good. Our favourite was the 'Captains Restaurant' and the 'Ambrosia and Nectar' was excellent too. The 'Green Meadow' was basic but very reasonably priced. Victoria's bar was a bit expensive for drinks.

All in all a lovely week. Would recommend for a peaceful holiday.

I would like to add a review here to try and add a bit of balance to the over the top reviews that have gone before. I booked my holiday based on these fantastic reviews and was so dissapointed. The Oasis appartments are not as fabulous as everyone makes them out to be! They are infact very basic. Firstly there is no air conditioning and there are not enough fans to go around. Secondly I was there for 2 weeks and the sheets and towels were only changed twice during this period and the toilet was not cleaned once (and that's the honest truth). I had to go out and buy toilet cleaner. The only thing the maids did each day was to empty the toilet bin. The swimming pool is tiny, not enough room to swim in. On the plus side the food coming out of the pool bar is pretty good. The apartments are rented out purely to Brits so if you enjoy a home from home holiday in hotb sticky conditions then go for it, beleive me it's not fun in the heat of July with no air conditioning. Skiathos town is also very touristy, you can get full English breakfast, relax in an English pub and join in an evening of English Kareoke. If that's what you like then have a wonderful time. If you prefer your Greek to be more Greek go to Skopelos.

we have just returned from our first go at independent travel in greece where we stayed at boudouriani house hotel and we loved every minute of our stay there The hotel is run by the very friendly and welcoming family who own it. The photos from the web site did not do it justice and the photos in the Thompson catalogue are outdated. The hotel is lovely with dark rattan furniture around the bar and pool and on the balconies. It is lovely and clean and Sofia and Christos look after you in the day time and have a good choice of food available all day and it is so easy to stay around that pool on those fab new sunbeds. Come evening and Ellias appears and continues where his parents left off, happy to look after you and serve you drinks until you are ready to go to bed. Try the coffee and baileys its delish. It is only a few minutes walk from the beautiful Troulos beach and the bus stop to skiathos town and the other amazing beaches on the island is 50m away. Banana beach is a must. As for eating there are plenty of tavernas within walking distance to keep you going not to mention those on the beach. Would we recommend this hotel, without hesitation and if we go back to skiathos we will definitely be going back to see Ellias and his family.
