Flight time from Newcastle three hours twenty minutes Transfer time three minutes We stayed in Villa one which sleeps five and found it spacious clean comfortable and the best equipped kitchen we have ever had Our party consisted of Mum Dad two eighteen year olds and an eleven year old This was a great destination for all quiet enough for the adults with enough entertainment provided for the children Pool was very clean with enough sun beds around to sleep the whole of Skiathos Covered table tennis area was a big hit with our three also the table football and once our son worked out how to get into a hammock in the shade we never saw him again Gym area and computer gaming access are also on offer near the pool bar area The staff are super friendly and helpful The bar area and grounds are excellent very clean and aesthetically designed with lots of shady quiet corners to sit if you want to get out of the sun Mike the owner is definitely not the Ogre some people make him out to be All he wants is for everyone to be able to enjoy a restful break families and couples alike The food on offer seemed pricey at first until you realise that one portion feeds two people it then appears Very cheap It is also well presented and tastes wonderful The Oasis is in a quiet semi rural location close to the airport but dont worry about the noise as the airport is quiet most days If you have kids or not you must go and sit in Milas the taverna at the end of the runway where you can just about touch the aircraft as they land whilst enjoying a nice cold beer All in all a great holiday would recommend to all and will definitely go back

These apartments offer very good accomodation for those seeking a quiet relaxing holiday. Our 2 bed apartment was spacious and comfortable and was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent maid. The location is perfect, three minutes walk down a quiet lane off the through road, yet only 5 minutes walk to the fantastic beach. The beach is quite narrow but is not nearly as crowded as others (eg Koukenaries) (sp?). The pool is quite small but doesn't tend to get busy because of the nearby beach. You'll need a large towel to cover the plastic covered sun bed cushions which get very hot!

The resort is ideally situated, just a 10/15 minute bus ride to Skiathos town which is bustling and lively without being rowdy. Buses run every half an hour and can be crowded. At peak times we flagged down a passing taxi which took us to town for 8 euros. You'll need to go to town to use a cash point (max withdrawal 300 euros I think)

The resort itself lacks a bit of character being just a collection of tavernas and small supermarkets with no real centre but is pleasant nonetheless. Having seen other parts of the island - well the south coast along the bus route (which were all very nice) we were very happy with our choice of resort and particularly our complex.

We found prices to be on a par with England so eating out for 14 days can add up (around 50 - 60 euros for 4). Budget for air con if going in high season which is 6 euros per night per unit - cost us 156 euros but was worth it for a good nights sleep). 2 sun beds and parasol on the beach costs 8 euros. It all added up to quite an expensive holiday thanks to current exchange rate.

myself and my boyfreind stayed in ostria apartment in August 2007. When we arrived we were droped off in the middle of nowhere waiting for a bus to pick us up and take us to the apartments early hours of the morning..we were quite scared (baring in mind my partner is not one easily scared)finally after waiting a good 1 hour a driver arrived admittidly he was freindly, he showed us our apartment we went inside and realised after the extensive journey we had no complimentary water was there on our arrival..at this stage we had to go out at 5 oclock in the morning to find somewhere that sold refreshments..we did find a place 20 minute away finally. The following day we were impressed by the apartment standard however we felt deserted throughout the duration of our stay..we did meet this famous george everyone seemed to be talking about on previous reviews we read..and i must say these reviews were obviously written by his friends because they were all false..he didnt want to help in any way shape or form..Unfortunetly during our stay i had left my money in the apartment..and coinsidently my money was not there on my return ( surprisingly) we approached George and mentioned this to him and said politely we did not want to accuse anyone but our money as been removed from our room and basically he did not give a damm. we were not impressed by this because we new it was taken by the cleaner where else could it have gone!!The Cleaner was the only one with a key and during the corse of the holiday she was always hanging around our apartment.. so no we were not impressed..this is a warning to anyone staying at ostria apartments do not believe all positive reviews that you may read...( BEWARE OF THE CLEANERS DONOT LEAVE MONEY AROUND...

We stayed at the Roulla for 14 nights from 27th June to 11th July 2008.The apartments are small and the cleaning left a lot to be desired. Shower curtain was black with mold and so was the slip mat in the shower .After about the fourth day in these were removed from all apartments as I think they got sick of all the complaints. The owners barely spoke and could hardly make eye contact which I found quite unusual as everywhere else we stayed in Greece people have been so friendly !People with small children please be aware of the childrens splash pool as this can get quite slippery as my two year old found out and cut his head open on the sharp edges of it .It was ok as a base to stay in but we wouldnt return to the Roulla again. Aghia Paraskevi was a lovely place and the beach and tavernas were wonderful, just think that we picked the wrong apartments !!!!

Hotel Costas & Mary is a small hotel set in the a lovely garden, it is spotlessly clean and is only a short walk to the town of Skiathos. If you want a quiet, formal type of hotel then this is not for you, but if you want a family run, happy, informal hotel, where you can have a laugh with the family and girls, where after an evening meal you can come back and chat about what you have done and where you have dined over a few drinks and a hot chocolate with old and new friends, then this hotel is for you. At breakfast Clotilde, one of the girls who assists Mary, may sing to you or be a little cheeky, but we have never found her rude or offensive in anyway, in fact she has always been very helpful to us, a lovely girl. Maybe if you are a sensitive or not a morning person then she could well be a little over the top. Our room (101) was on the ground floor overlooking the gardens and bar pool area and we were never disturbed by any noise. We always kept the doors shut at night because of the mosquitoes, we both react badly to bites and stings. Lunch Time Mary will make you a delicious salads, bacon and eggs, yoghurt, fruit & honey to die for and much more.

Favorite Restaurants Plakes …. Excellent food………… lovely views Amfiliko .. Excellent food………… lovely views 1901………..Excellent food Dino’s …….. Good food and a friendly welcome from Dino and his wife Rula Meja Gialos….Fantastic views, much recommended Soutzikakia, delicious, We also had cooking lessons form Mamma & Daphne………. Hilarious. Pubs Old Port Inn, a friendly welcome………. Lovely pub, Mythos ,2 euros for a large glass, the owners are a lovely Yorkshire couple. Open Air Cinema Try the open air cinema a unique experience! Recommended Walks We do a lot of walking around the island. Walk up the donkey tracks to Evangalistra Monastery Walk to Castro……. A long way but very rewarding…….. lunch at the taverna on the beach, very Swiss Family Robinson. Kekria is across the north of the island, lovely views across the mainland, lots of deserted beaches but they are difficult to reach. We always call at the bakery for sandwiches cakes and water, for a picnic…..fantastic! We would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes a friendly, family run hotel and enjoys to mix with people of different ages and backgrounds. The island can be difficult for people with disabilities, but can be done.

This is a great location if you are used to Medeterainian standards - the rooms are large, beds comfy and toilet/kitchen adequate & clean. Walls are slightly thin so you are at the mercy of the neighbours however we did not have any problems at all. One thing you don't get is a great view as it's sea level and looks straight out onto bushes - but it's better than a construction site / other buildings!

It's located right at the end of the runway but this should NOT put you off - flights are between 9.00 and 6.00 daily - NEVER at night and there's no more than 6 or 7 a day. All the guests actually enjoyed this aspect - a thrilling view and it's the added advantage, I beleive, of keeping prices here low as reading this in a brochure probably put's people off. Same hotel inland would probably be 20% more.

The pool is disproportionately large and the beds are soft and comfortable (there are plenty of them).Bar is manned permanently - no wandering around trying to find someone to serve you but there not big on providing food. Drinks are cheap and the bar closes around 8.00pm

Bus stop 0 is a 5 minute walk away and you are steps away from the chilled out Club Row - note 'chilled out' - no dance or 'hardcore' and none of this drifts to the hotel but it is handy for your first or last few drinks. Centre of town is 10 minutes and all on the flat.

Our tour operator allowed you to opt out of transfers which reduced the bill by £25 so we got a taxi for 4 euro's and beat the rush! Some people even walk from the airport it's that close.

Skiathos town has a number of good restraunt's Portabello and Moiyra are both good and the absolute best steaks can be found in the restraunt opposite the Bonaparte. Scuna is also fantastic and the best service we found was at Kosta's leading up from the 7 stepst turn left and it's last in the row up the hill - yellow. The old man who run's it is very friendly, it's cheap and great traditional food.

The only hotels nearer town possess no or a smaller pool and are to near the hussle and bussle for the relaxation you get at the blue dolphin - it really is the best of both worlds

Kolios, bus stop 15, and Agia P, bus stop 16, are very close, just a short walk between them. Ag. P a lot busier now though than on previous visits, however, good to find that Jimmy's, Green Park and Platanias are still as good as ever for evening meals and we visite all 3 on more than one occasion. Also in Ag. P we tried Avli, Pegasus and Maistrali – Avli and Pegasus average but, in our opinion, not worthy of a repeat visit and, as for Maistrali, well, this was quite the worst eating experience of our 2 weeks! Favourite eating places in town were Akrogiali, just past the clubs - a no-nonsense taverna frequented by a lot of Greeks and O Kaziakas (Ding Dong Man) for best grilled lamb and chicken. No Name good for Gyros at lunchtime. Must mention Mylos, the old windmill, where, sad as we are, we spent some time one Friday watching the planes land and enjoyed a couple of ouzos and Mythos in the process. How anyone can miss something as big as a plane with a camera I am not sure but I managed it - twice - good fun though and worth doing if you like planes!

Beaches - this turned out to be a very lazy holiday but only 3 of the many beaches got visited – Kolios, Agia Paraskevi and Troulos. Troulos was our favourite where we found a lovely spot up near the changing cabin to the right-hand end of the beach, at the back, almost under the pine trees close to the couple who rent out the beds – they are a very nice couple and, on our last day, did not put our favourite beds out until they saw us coming! The pines meant we did not need to rely on the umbrella alone for shade. We had lunch at the Zaharo snack bar just along from our sunbeds, to the right, on 3 occasions - very nice and good value; ate at Troulos 2 once which was OK. 8 Euros seems the standard charge everywhere for 2 beds and an umbrella. Kolios beach is nice too, small and reasonably quiet with no water sports and one taverna where we had a couple of nice lunches. Agia Paraskevi beach is now very busy and did not get a 2nd visit! Overall – a very pleasant and relaxing fortnight and it was good to return after 8 years; obviously a lot of changes but, also, a lot has remained as it was so a very good mix and we came home refreshed and very happy with our holiday. Skiathos is a beautiful island with some wonderful scenery and a good mix of self-catering and hotels - all in all, something to suit most people's tastes, we think.

Good flight with Monarch and, on arrival, several Olympic Holidays reps on duty to direct everyone to their transfer coaches; luggage delivered for us and we were met at Bus Stop 15 by Matina from the Xanthi apartments who took us up the lane (fairly hilly...

Good flight with Monarch and, on arrival, several Olympic Holidays reps on duty to direct everyone to their transfer coaches; luggage delivered for us and we were met at Bus Stop 15 by Matina from the Xanthi apartments who took us up the lane (fairly hilly but it gets easier!!!) to our apartment. We were in No. 8 on the 1st floor which had views over the olive trees out to sea – thanks, Darrell, (our Olympic rep for the holiday), for this allocation – we struck lucky as I don’t think we could have chosen a nicer room ourselves. No. 8 was well laid-out with good use of space; a kitchen area with all basic necessities; there was a kettle and toasted sandwich-maker, adequate cupboard space, space beside the fridge for storing bottled water etc. and the usual basic self-catering pots, pans, crockery and cutlery – all perfectly adequate for us as we tend not to self-cater much apart from cuppas, glasses of wine on the balcony! Bathroom was well-appointed with a shower curtain that pulls across the room rather than around the shower – this was great - no clingy curtain and quick and easy drying of curtain after showers – good thinking! Plenty of hot water apart from one evening when it was cold – however, we managed and it was just a one-off. Living area/bedroom a decent size, adequate wardrobe space and the balcony was fine, usual table and chairs, washing line and a few pegs but take a few of your own pegs as we lost some of ours on to the roof below and it’s impossible to retrieve them!!! The apartments are set in a small but beautifully tended garden and the pool and sunbeds were perfectly adequate for the number of guests who chose to use them – about 15 rooms in total I think and the pool was never crowded. No bar but this was not a problem as we could use the bar at Xanthi, where we enjoyed Happy Hour drinks early evening and a nightcap on our way home – thanks, Bill and Matina! Lovely special omelettes here for lunch! Manos supermarket is 2 minutes from Demitris so good for carrying bottled water and the few bits of shopping needed – stocked everything we wanted - very convenient.

Our first holiday with Olympic and we were impressed – Darrell, our rep., was friendly and knowledgeable and was always on hand at his designated times for those who need advice, to book trips, car hire etc. We would definitely consider booking with them again. Good flight home, landing back at Gatwick just 5 mins. late!!

The hotel resort is very small but has all you need in the day with a wonderful beach and a great supermarket, we only stayed there one evening, if you stayed in the hotel for the entertainment the drinks were very expensive, we just went in to town every night as that is the real Skiathos anyway.

I love just people watching and enjoying the beautiful boats in the harbour, the boys enjoyed it too, its so cosmopolitan, not much to do for children they have to make their own entertainment, (but that's whats nice about Skiathos, no games machines and waterparks) there is a small play area in the old port (slide and swings) but they found a friend at the restaurant Limanaki who had a football pitch in the back of his restaurant and went off there to play with him, whilst I sat and had a relaxing drink after our lovely greek meal.

We got out and about a lot and one place to visit if you're an animal lover is the skiathos dog shelter up near the monastry, between 9.30 and 2.30 every day you can take the dogs out for a walk and hug and hold the puppies. It's run by an english lady who is doing a really good job. My boys loved it!

We visited a lot of the beaches which are all beautiful and I would recommend Skiathos to anyone, we will go back again (I would stay at the Princess again too).

"Skiathos Princess was lovely"

Just back from Skiathos and loved the Skiathos Princess, I think it has to be the best on the island, although its about 10 minutes outside Skiathos Town, its location right on the beach was wonderful. The buses are frequent and often they don't charge for the children, the cabs are 9 euros now and do stop to get as many people in as possible, often the boys had to sit on my lap and they drive so fast it made me feel car sick. I hired a jeep in the end and had fun driving around.

I felt thoroughly pampered and enjoyed every minute of it. I was slightly worried about travelling with two young boys on my own but I had nothing to worry about with the wonderful help of our rep who was very understanding and helpful, and I felt very safe and secure in the hotel as indeed the whole island.

The rooms were very spacious and spotlessly clean, the pool and beach were fantastic, sun loungers are brilliant, so comfortable and you get clean towels from beach to pool. The staff were great with the children and although there weren't many children there you didn't feel worried about them jumping in the pool, in fact it was lovely and relaxing as there weren't loads of kids running around. I thought the kids club was expesive at 30 euros so I didn't put them in that, in fact I don't think anyone did, it was always empty.

The food was very good but like another review said "not enough greek" we went out one night to eat when the whole buffet was entirely sea food, so I actually got to eat Greek food, but the Inguana Bar across the road now does Souvlaki and Gyros which are delicious and we had them for lunch a couple of times (although the breakfast is so big you don't need lunch). They do a kids menu in the restaurant if your kids don't like whats on offer. Most staff in there are good, but you could see a lot were young and learning, not greek and I would say not as friendly as the greeks were (who always love children and pay them a lot of attention).

The drinks were expensive and the mini-bar in the room was very pricey, I didn't try the spa but it looked lovely. One thing, the reception staff seemed to be the least friendly and helpful, I asked for a plug for my sink which never materialised, but got my air conditioning fixed immediately. Overall the hotel was comfortable and of a 4* quality (I think in Greece the stars are always a little lower so if its a 5 you expect a 4)

Lovely Hotel, staff very friendly, very helpful, breakfast excellent buffet style. Rooms cleaned daily. Only downside was the location. Not recommended for the unfit as steps or hill up to hotel is quite tiring and after 14 days you need another holiday.
