Skiathos is an extremely pretty island, very green and the resort of Koukanaries is probably the best on the island. It has an extremely long sandy beach with a backdrop of pine trees and is suitable for couples and families as it has all facilities without being too over the top.

Koukounaries is a lovely resort but make sure you know where you are going when you set out for the beach!!

Not much in the way of Real Greece on Skiathos with no old villages to look around , Skiathos town is a very pleasant place with loads of nice bars and small restaurants up narrow side streets, bigger bars on the harbour fronts but we like the back streets that have more going for them. The price of a two coarse meal for 2 with local wine works out to about 30 Euros.

Most British tourists found that Skiathos is a bit on the expensive side like a loaf of bread costing £2.50 and a litre of milk over £1.50 in the local shops a bit cheaper in the bigger supermarket in Skiathos by bus stop No3. The busses are very good running from Skiathos town No1 to stop No 26 at Kokounares at a cost of 1.8 euros one way per person, only trouble is if you only go a stop or two the cost is still 1.4 euros.

On the beach 2 sun beds and a shade costs 8 euros and drinks are not cheap with a small beer at 2.5 / 3 euros. Three or four nice restaurants in Troulos so you don’t have to go into town to eat

Not much to do or see but we would go again but next time take a few more food supplies with us.

Troulos is chilled out and relaxing.We have just returned from a fabulous two week break in Skiathos. Troulos itself is the second largest town on Skiathos, it is a bit spread spread out without a central area other than the main junction on the road. The regular bus service is 2 Euros no matter where you get on or how far you are going. Travel south and you end up on Koukanaris and Banana beaches, go north and the end of the line is Skiathos town. There are various beaches and coves along the way. We found that the best stop to get off for Skiathos town was Stop 4. This took you down through the old town and the main street shopping centres down to the harbour.

Aghia Paraskevi is a slow paced village with many Tavernas and Apartment blocks which are hidden off the main road and are fun to discover. The beach at Kolios is smaller than Ag Paraskevi but has a wonderful Taverna. There is a lovely little church in the main part of Ag Paraskevi which is worth a little visit. If you need to travel anywhere it is approx 15 mins to Skiathos town and 15 mins to Koukounaries in the opposite direction.

A nice clean resort placed exactly half way along the bus route. The beaches are all very tidy and clean and the locals friendly and helpful. There are numerous places to eat and drink with prices being average throughout the resort. On the whole a good resort with something for everyone.

The resort of Troulos was a bit quieter than we were led to believe but It didn't matter as we hired a jeep to go off road to SO many beaches and up into the mountains.On our last evening we went to the SPORTS BAR and we heard 4 girls singing all holiday makers but they sang a few songs together and they were 1st class well done girls ! I also lost my jacket there so not well done me :-( !

Aghia Paraskevi is bus stop number 16 just over halfway along the bus route. It has a long sandy beach with other beaches within walking distance. There are a couple of supermarkets and a couple of other shops and plently of places to eat and drink. We didn't have a bad meal or service anywhere and the prices were pretty much the same. When we return to Skiathos I would stay here again.

I loved it here, right in the middle of the island. Quiet enough to chill and relax (we went very early in the seson) but enough restaurants to keep you happy if you don't fancy going into town (only 15mins on bus). Liked the beach outside the Princess hotel the best though Koolios beach was lovely too but no facilities. The main road might be a bit dodgy to walk along if you have kids (no pavement). Apart from that i thought this area was fantastic and would highly recommend it and Skiathos overall.

This is beautiful area of Skiathos Island with the beautiful Koukounaires beach alongside others on offer to choose from. You will find plenty of water activities and other facilities available at Koukounaires beach iteself but be aware that the daily boat trips will leave tourists swarming the beach in the afternoons however, the neighbouring Maratha Beach is best suited to couples as there is one beach bar (only opening now) and there are no toilet facilities but you will enjoy some piece and quiet. We also hired scooters and went off around the coast (where the excellent bus service does not run) and found even more lovely beaches and views to take in. Be aware that the prices have gone up considerably with the current currency situation!

very quite relaxing place if you want night life there is an excelent bus service that takes you into town for 1euro 80cents and a taxi back is 15euros there are plenty of resturants along the main road and a few bars

this hotel is placed on the main road if you can call it that. Koukounaries is a beautiful area of Skiathos it has one of the best beaches in the world and it deserves the honour.

Very quiet, beaches quiet but a not amazing sand, some jelly fish in the water. Not many bars/restaurants.

It is the resort to go to for peace and quiet, get away from Town and all the bustle that goes with it. Troulos and Agia Paraskevi are just, in my opinion, a main road with buildings placed eratically with no character. As it is located at bus stop 12 it is almost exactly half way from Town and from Koukounaries so is the ideal spot to base yourself to explore.

It's true there isn't a huge choice of restaurants but you get to know the people better when you go somewhere more than once and the food was good so we wanted to go back.

It was quite a walk to the harbour, although not really far enough to justify a taxi. The nearest supermarket was a good 5 minute walk. The route to the harbour lacked footpaths in places and the roads were hazardous, I wouldn't reccommend walking with small children.

Skiathos was lovely. The harbour is beautiful and well worth the visit to Skiathos town. If you are looking for a resort that mainly caters for the British you will be disappointed. The resort is very popular with Greeks, Italians, Scandinavians etc. Club strip is very expensive and over rated. It is full of Europeans who do not dance and there is no atmosphere. The drinks are very expensive and it is not worth the visit. well worth exploring the fantastic beaches could not be more Greek, crystal clear water and beautiful clean sandy beaches shelving gently into the sea . Ah I am almost back there.
