Achladies Bay Holiday Reviews

Achladies is quiet but only a water taxi ride from the buzzing fabulous town (the water taxi is so much better than the packed bus every day). Be warned, Greece is very expensive now, bread nearly 3 euros, cereals 4 euros! In restaurants, if you eat the bread they put on the table it can cost you up to 3 euros (in some places they even try to charge you if you don't eat it). However we will return, but will make sure we save more!!!

Achladies is a nice little resort, it has a few bars and restaurants and some shops, and a lovely beach. It is quite near Skiathos Town, which is very nice, especially at night. We would go back.

There are a number of good tavernas aceessible from the beaches which serve excellent food. The water taxi provides an easy link to Skiathos Town where there are plenty of restaurants, tourist shops and nightclubs.

Resort has a number of bars and restaurants all serve good food some have the occasional Greek night. The beach is excellent and has a water taxi that will take you into Skiathos town if you fancy a change from the bus. It is easy to catch a bus from one end of the island to the other and they run every 10 to 15 minutes during the summer.

Skiathos is for sun and beech worshippers. Not much to do here apart from sunbathing and swimming related activities. The old town has shops, restaurants and bars. 99% are Greek owned and run. The fashion is to eat drink and talk the night away OK if you like that sort of thing. Drinks and food are expensive and some of the taxi drivers rip you off by hiring your cab to another couple while your in it. Both couples end up paying full price. The locals are playing on the Mama Mia thing lots of referencing to the movie and its stars. If you like the Greek way and a quiet holiday you will like it here if you need more in the way of sightseeing and diverse night life go elsewhere.

Achladies has everything you need, with the sea taxi to take you into town in the evening avoiding the busy buses into town. The beach is a blue flag beach, clean and great for swimming at any time of the day. You can rent a couple of sunbeds and parasol for €8 or just sit at the end of the beach where the rocks act as natural shade. The local supermarkets are very competitive on prices all with fresh bread daily and tons of good quality fruit and veg. My only complaint about the holiday was having to return home at the end of it.

Achladies is a small resort situated around 3 kilometres from Skiathos town. Achladies beach is absolutely wonderful. A long curve of sand and gently sloping waters. Safe for anyone. On the beach there are watersports and tavernas near by. Sunbeds cost 8e which is the same as it has been for years. Then I thought it was expensive, now not so sure really. The Paradise taverna does an excellent Greek night on a Thursday and serves good food during both day and night. There is a taverna further up called I think Maniettas garden just down from the 4 star Esperides hotel. Ate there the other year, only once (need we say more??) very expensive and very poor

This is a quiet resort and is good if you just want to chill out. However there are much better beaches on the Island so it may be worth doing day trips there.

The Beach is fantastic, quiet with crystal clear waters.

The boat that you can catch to Skiathos Town is a unique way to travel and especially enjoyable as the weather in August was so hot. It goes frequently so you can easily go for a meal or shopping and then come back to the beach. We really enjoyed traveling by boat, as the car taxi-drivers are a bit reckless and the road that joins one end of the island to the other is not as pretty as the coast line.
