"Dimis Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We found Skiathos to be a lovely island, very green and lush. Achladies was a very pleasant resort and not overly busy, with easy access to Skiathos Town, either by a very busy bus service or by water taxi. We can heartily recommend the water taxi, a very cheap and enjoyable way to travel. The 'Captain' is a bit of a character who loves to entertain his passengers!
We stayed at The Dimis Studios, which were set in pretty, well tended gardens. The apartments were clean but perhaps a little well used, a few small niggles, such as the kettle and oven not working properly, but overall a pleasant and quiet place to stay.
The Tavernas we tried in Achladies were pretty average, with the exception of The Rose Garden, which was excellent. Please try it!! The owner, Elias, is a real gentleman who is passionate about the quality of food and the service he provides. The Rose Garden is attached to the Hotel Vontzos (Bontzos) also owned by the same family. Elias invited us to view on of the rooms which had a lovely sea view and was to the same high standard as his restaurant. Needless to say, next time we visit Skiathos we intend to stay there (see Skiathosinfo com).
Although Skiathos is a small island, with a little planning there is plenty to do. We hired a four wheel drive and went 'off road' to the islands interior which gave us access to some stunning countryside and enabled us to visit Kastro with confidence, as the tracks are unsuitable for ordinary vehicles. Kastro is well worth a visit.
Skiathos Town is lovely, the people are very friendly, especially in the Tavernas which spill on to the harbour front. You can also take a trip to the neighbouring islands from the harbour, we took the Flying Dolphin to Skopelos, it was great.
To sum up, we loved Skiathos and will visit again.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Dimis apartments are simple but have everything you need! You may be lucky to get the little church apartment! These apartments are set in beautiful kept gardens! They are kept very clean and the owners although not speaking much English are very nice! They are close to Achladies beach and amenities but at the same time give you a quiet environment to chill out!
The beach is gorgeous! Great for swimming in! You have Vangelis on sunbeds!! Beware of his Greek sense of humour!ha!ha! When I left the sunbeds were 5 Euros (will probably rise but heard it was 8 Euros last year.
You also have Faros Taverna on the beach. Stratos and Sakkis will look after you well! The meal is good but not outstanding!! But for a drink in to sunset you can't beat it! There are of course another two or three Tavernas to choose from on the beach too! And a few further down the main road! The rose garden was recommended by friends!
The Barssola(?) Pool bar offers a pool to the surrounding apartments and is offering a BQ every week on a Monday!
Alex and Aris from the big supermarket at the bus stop have everything you could possibly want! And even deliver it free!!! They also have a Book shelf stacked with English novels to swap with one you have finished(Bus stop 10 for those of you who are in different resorts.
It is also close to town which is a bonus - unless of course in High season when it might be difficult to get a bus!!! Sardines springs to mind!ha!ha! But Taxi's can be haggled for! 4 Euros was the rate most preferred but of course they will take you for less! Another great thing about Achladies is that you can get the water Taxi in to town! A little boat which looks like a fishing vessel but well worth the 1 Euro in to town or back!
Think that is all I can offer on Achladies! Hope this helps!!!
