"Villa Anastasia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
My wife and I managed to book a last minute holiday to Villa Anastasia making a saving of nearly 1/2 the brochure price, therefore try waiting as long as you can before booking.
The Thomas Cook brochure just not do this place justice. The villa is located on a hill overlooking the bay of Achladies with wonderful views. A small building, there are only 10 rooms and a pool. Each room has its own private balcony (apartment) or private sitting area (studio). The small pool is ideal for the number of rooms. There were 14 sunbeds and 3 big parasols whilst we were there which doesn't add up to the number of people who would stay in the 10 rooms, however most days we were the only people at the pool, in effect having our own private pool and on no occasion were all the sunbeds used despite all the rooms being occupied.
The rooms were clean, with air conditioning and were cleaned every day except for Sunday. Sheets and towels were changed twice a week.We stayed in one of the small studios on the ground floor which was more than adequate. However, having spoken to other couples, the apartments (with a supplement) were, as to be expected, alot larger and had balconies with commanding views over the bay.
As for location. The villa is sat on a hill with a 15 metre walk down to the road, where 20 metres away (left to bus stop number 9) you can pick up the bus which takes you to Skiathos Town one way and Koukounaries the other for upto 1.2 Euros. Over the road and down a steep hill (approx 150 metres) you reach the beach.
As you may have noticed, hills feature alot in this. if you're not upto walking up or down hills then try another resort. However, don't let it put you off as you only need to do it once or twice a day and the second time the alcohol usually helps the climb! We found the Villa ideally located for all amenities. There were shops to the right 100 metres at the bottom of the hill which delivered for free and several nice Tavernas on the beach. It's only about 2 miles from Skiathos Town (where most people go each night). We were told the bus was extremely busy on a night, therefore used the boat taxi which ran from Achladies beach at 1.5 Euros each way....a much cooler and more picturesque way of travelling!
The busy bus covers the south of the island. To see the north you need to hire a motorbike or jeep...well worth it for a day and the only way to see some of the better, more secluded beaches. There are too many beaches to mention. Kechria beaches (on the north) were probably our favourite, with Banana beaches (one of them nudist) being the best on the south.
Enjoy..... Oh and take some mosquito repellant. Noone at the villa was bitten but there were alot of people with bites from other resorts.

"Villa Anastasia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
If you like Greek islands you must go here! Green, small and just the right blend of commercialism not too overpowering and not so undeveloped you cant get what you need.
The holiday was with Thomas Cook and the photo's of the Villa's dont do it any justice whatsoever. They are very clean, have fantasic views and the pool is awasome. Achladies is definately the resort to go to if you wonat the best of everything. The other end nearer the so called best beach in greece think it is Kokanaries (or somethign liek that) if most popluated by luminious short crowd!.
You must sample catching the samll sea taxi from the beach in Achladies to Skiathos Town at sunset, fantastic. The resort is hilly so you may want a scooter or a car but other than that there is everything you need. Check out the bars in town with the cushions on the floor, they are great if a bit expensive and attracting a definate Greek crowd, but if you want english go to Kavos!
Also hire a boat form Achladies beach and do the entire island in half a day. If you do you must got to the island opposite as it has the best beach in Greece that I have seen and I have seen a lot of Greece. Have fun we did
