The Ioannis Apartments are basic but clean, the same as most other Greek Accomodation BUT these are a little gem because of the location, family and surroundings. The onsite restaurant is very popular with guests and other visitors to the island and is a lot more reasonable in price than a few others in the resort of Ag Paraskevi. The food is plentiful and tasty and the service and friendliness of Theo, Dimitri and Alex is second to none. Ioannis and Maria (the parents) are excellent cooks and really know how to look after you. They will do anything within their means to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The pool is small but as there are only 16 apartments it is big enough as on most days there are only around 8 or so people around it at one time. The beach is a 5 minute walk away down the drive and across the road or you can walk 10 mins to Kolios beach in the opposite direction which is a bit smaller and has a fabulous Taverna. The Taverna in front of the Skiathos Princess ( i think thats it's name) is a lot more expensive and nowhere near as tasty ( in my opinion ) though they do have comfy sunbeds. The only other places we ate apart from Green Park were Jimmy's which is very nice, Platanias, again very nice and Pegasus which was also good and very reasonable. One to avoid as we found very expensive, Infinity Blue. Nice view of Kolios bay but we paid €60 for 2 meals, 2 starters and a bottle of wine whereas at other restaurants we averaged between 38 and 45 euros for the same. Ioannis is a lovely place for older couples but is not really suitable for families with older children or teenagers as there is nothing really for them. It is somewhere to go and chill out, wind down, eat well and be woken up by the birds and other wildlife that hangs out around the area. We didn't get up until 11am one morning and were still first by the pool. We met lots of friendly people, drank many a Mythos and ate till we could eat no more. Just what we wanted........we will be back next year probably...

"A good choice"

These apartments offer very good accomodation for those seeking a quiet relaxing holiday. Our 2 bed apartment was spacious and comfortable and was kept spotlessly clean by the excellent maid. The location is perfect, three minutes walk down a quiet lane off the through road, yet only 5 minutes walk to the fantastic beach. The beach is quite narrow but is not nearly as crowded as others (eg Koukenaries) (sp?). The pool is quite small but doesn't tend to get busy because of the nearby beach. You'll need a large towel to cover the plastic covered sun bed cushions which get very hot!

The resort is ideally situated, just a 10/15 minute bus ride to Skiathos town which is bustling and lively without being rowdy. Buses run every half an hour and can be crowded. At peak times we flagged down a passing taxi which took us to town for 8 euros. You'll need to go to town to use a cash point (max withdrawal 300 euros I think)

The resort itself lacks a bit of character being just a collection of tavernas and small supermarkets with no real centre but is pleasant nonetheless. Having seen other parts of the island - well the south coast along the bus route (which were all very nice) we were very happy with our choice of resort and particularly our complex.

We found prices to be on a par with England so eating out for 14 days can add up (around 50 - 60 euros for 4). Budget for air con if going in high season which is 6 euros per night per unit - cost us 156 euros but was worth it for a good nights sleep). 2 sun beds and parasol on the beach costs 8 euros. It all added up to quite an expensive holiday thanks to current exchange rate.

This is probably the friendliest most relaxing place we have ever stayed. It is all family run, only 16 appartments so really relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. Ioannis is the head of the family and the best chef, they have a taverna on site that serves the most delicious food, that was the only downside, we put on about 7lbs each in 2 weeks, but what the heck!!

The bar is run by 2 of the sons, Theo and Alex who are crazy! Maria is usually around as well keeping the rest of the family under control. They make you feel really welcome and treat you as an extension of their family, nothing is too much trouble, we met a great crowd of people of all ages who are reguar visitors there and have kept in touch with most of them, so far 6 of us have booked up for the same 2 weeks again next year, I think that says it all.

10/10

Ioannis Studios are just like a little haven. You come upon them after being abandoned by the rep halfway down a little lane which leads to these apartments.

Have no fear, you cannot fail to be delighted as you enter the gateway into the lovely gardens and pool area. Apartments are roomy and absolutely spotless. Big,confortable beds - bedding changed twice in a week [and towels] and whole apartment cleaned thoroughly every day. Not luxurious but confortable. We did have the worst shower in the world however, with water pressure so weak it took ages to rinse shampoo off hair.Pool area immaculate, pool quite small but adequate and very pretty and peaceful. Skiathos town is atmospheric, sophistocated but friendly and the most likable greek town I have ever visited. The restaurants are so varied - there is something to suit all tastes. We ate traditional greek every night and did not have a bad meal. We also ate in Aghia P quite often - again never a bad meal.We particularly liked Jimmys Bar - excellent Stifado. Beach Taverna on Kolios beach - lovely greek salad.

All the beaches are beautiful.

If you re in doubt of whether to go here or not, please don't. We absoultly loved it and are booking up to go next year very soon.

The apartment is situated away from the main road so is vey quiet and peaceful. When you arrive you walk through two iron gates and we were immedialtly impresssed. The grounds are very pretty with well kept gardens. There is a pool whcih at first we thought was quite small but then realised that there is only approx 16 rooms in total so the pool is ample. Behind that is the restaurant and next to it is a very lovely seating area. You must eat at the restaurant, it is known as one of the best on the island and very reasonable priced compared to food in Skiathos Town.We ate ther almost every night and the food is gorgeous. The rooms are fairly basic but cater for all your needs and are kept spotlessly clean. It is family run, mainly by two brothers called Alex and Theo - they are lovely and so helpful.

We went into Skiathos Town are few times - do not attempt to get the bus and they will cram as many people on there as they can and it is far too hot for that, the taxis are about 8euros each way, and it is about a 20 minute drive, the taxi drivers are a bit mad but harmless!
The town is very pretty and lively with lots of nice bars, restaurants, shops and clube if you want them, the local people are very friendly too.

We went to the main beach in Agia Parveski which is really nice, very clean and lots of water sports going on as well.
I could go on and on about how lovely this place is, but please try it out for your self you will not be dissapointed, say hello to Alex and Theo for us!

One of the best features about Ioannis is that it is set back from the main road a bit so you have no car/bus noise. The setting is beautiful, the pool is small but so nice to relax in as the water is really warm (in july anyway). There is a relaxing seating area set under a canopy but the prices for drinks was far too high. Ioannis has it's own taverna (Green Park)..it was ok, portions were too big..there are far nicer restaurants on the island to go to.

Best restaurant in the resort is The View (part of Magic Hotel)..it is a bit further up the road from the Telis Taverna. Service was great, views were fantastic and the food was lovely. Platanias restaurant is part of the Magic hotel group...the food was lovely but the best part was the service we received. It also has it's own bar next door which is really relaxing and again has great service. Infinity Blue is another favourite of ours...the service was amazing, great food and fantastic views.

Skiathos town is well worth going to in the evenings..very busy...check out Rock n Roll bar, outside it has bean bags, beds and cushion to sit on. Above this bar go to Mediterraneo restaurant for great food and views of the harbour.
Best beach would have to be Mandraki..best have a jeep to get here as you can drive right up to the beach. Lovely taverna, quiet beach, warm water. Another great beach is Maratha. Koukounaries beach is gorgeous but far too busy.

There is a dog shelter on the island, which asks for help with walking dogs, donations etc. Also be prepared to see lots of stray cats and kittens...please feed them all !!!!!!!

The Ioannis apartments are down a track off the main road. At the gates you enter attractive gardens and pool/bar area.
The pool itself is not large but is adequate provided not many guests are using it, as was the case during our visit. The lovely beach is only 5 minutes away which may explain this. The pool also closes late afternoon just when it's a perfect time for an end of day swim. Be prepared for dirty looks from staff if you happen to go a minute past closing too!
The snack bar/taverna area is attractive but lacks any atmosphere, even during the evening.
Generally the apartments and grounds are clean but a basic lack of attention to minor repairs (broken umbrellas, missing caps on taps, sticking doors) detracts from what could be a much better complex.

Lastly, be aware of the air conditioning. This was essential with a 2 year old in our party but was VERY expensive with the prices being poorly explained at the start of the holiday and payment made at the end!

Resort.

The resort is very quiet with just a few bars and a handful of tavernas. For any more life (day or night), you will ahve to travel to Skiathos Town.
The best of the tavernas are down a lane next to Platanias bar, Pegasus, Maestrali and Avli being the pick of the bunch.

Overall, the apartments and resort are ok with the beach being the best bit. However there are plenty of good beaches around Greece with better resorts and accomodation nearby so my overall advice would be to look elsewhere.

We stayed in this resort in early May and despite some poor weather on arrival we enjoyed 3 days of glorious sunshine. The Ioannasis apartments were very nice and comfortable. The setting was exceptional, with a lovely restaurant and poolside seating area. Our only downside is that the hotel seemed much more geared towards older couples rather than families.

During our stay we had two and a half days of poor weather. There was nothing for our daughter to do even though there was plenty of room around the back to install a small piece of play equipment for kids.

Thankfully the fantastic beach was only a 5 min walk away and many hours were spent entertaining our daughter there and sunbathing. The water was crystal clear and the fish could be seen swimming about!

The local shops were really hospitable, especially Palatinos(?) who were very helpful to us and loved our daughter.

We found some nice places to eat, the Ioannais restaurant/Green Park, Platinias? (large restaurant on the bend in the town), and at the Osira restaurant.

Our only grievance was the lack of any facilities for children, the fact that First Choice offered free child places to these apartments led us to believe that they would have something child friendly. Also, the First Choice Rep did not seem to want to stick around for any questions and didnt inform us that most of the activities that were on offer couldnt be had until the following week ";When the Season started";, of course we would be home by then!

One piece of advice is to find out if your hotel etc is having a new road laid as ours did! No one knew what was going to happen until the night before the cement lorry arrived and laid a new road right from our gate to the road. We had to climb over walls and teeter along planks to reach the road, often with our shoes covered in concrete! Not a great three days!!

In total, the holiday was very good value, not very suitable for active youngsters, but brilliant for older couples and those with teenagers who can occupy themselves. Lastly, the pool was very cold and quite small, but adequate.

We enjoyed our holiday and would like to return, but to a different hotel with more for kids to do.

One request...PLEASE visit the dogs home and make a donation to them..the girls do a fantastic job there and they are British of course. Dogs arent high priority in Greece, but you could help by visiting and taking the dogs for a walk, do go, but try not to cry!!

Hi!!!!

After taking in the breathtaking views from the aeroplane we landed on the short but sweet runway in Skiathos. After stepping out of the plane a heat overcame us. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky!

Transfer to our hotel was short as the island only has one main road, being so small. Easy to explore!!! When walking up the lane we wondered if we'd ever get there but we reached the end and it was like an oasis, the gardens were beautiful and very well looked after and the rooms very clean. The hotel is a family run one and there was service with a smile! The people were so pleasant. Also the Taverna was the best in the resort, the food all being home-cooked. Prices were cheap too!! Also there was some talent lurking by the pool.

The beach was very clean and the sea beautiful and clear. Sunbeds only 8 euros for 2, very reasonable! If you want a more busy holiday then hop on the bus to the other end of the island to Koukanaries and the nudist Banana beach!!

This resort is very quiet but do check out the greek night if your up for a laugh! Plenty of places to go for a quiet drink and do check out the Green Park Taverna! There is also bars with Sky sports for the football fans!

The people are lovely and we would definately go back again!! Pass us the brochures for next year!!!

Great choice of trips for all people but make sure you go on a sunny day to Athens because we discovered when it was windy we couldn't go! Also the round the island trip is good and the island hopping.
