The Panorama Hotel is situated close to the main beach a Koukounaries, it takes around 10-15 minutes to walk there. The Hotel looks impressive right from the gateway from the road and certainly lives up to the image that it presents. It is a family run hotel, providing a very friendly atmosphere and cleanliness is second to none. We stayed in September and could not find a single spec of dust or dirty mark. The Hotel was refurbished last year and is bright and airy, with marble floors and staircases and a very modern dining area. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, bread (a toaster is provided), yogurt, fruit, cheese pies and croisant. Fried eggs or omlettes were alternated on daily basis. You can purchase a full English breakfast from the pool bar if you wish, though we did not find this necessary. The pool bar serves snacks from 10.00am to 3.00pm and opens as a restaurant from 5.00pm. snacks were of a very high standard and, if you want a drink only between 3.00pm and 5.00pm, the family are happy to serve you. Evening meals are of a very good standard. The pool is deep and there is no separate childrens pool, this seems to be standard with all hotels in the resort, the pool, and pool area, are kept to a very high standard and the Hotel is set within very pretty gardens with lawned areas. There is a delightful pergola for those who prefer a bit of shade. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are some of the best that I have seen in Greece in 18 years of travel, mosaic tiles cover the floor and the fittings are all modern. We had rather poor water pressure in our shower but the people who stayed in the room opposite us said that the pressure was so high in their shower that they stuggled not to saturate the floor, so this seems a little hit and miss. Air conditioning, TV and a fridge are included in the price, we paid 2 euros per day for a safety deposit box. Towels are changed every day, including Sunday. The couple of very small niggles that we experienced would not prevent me from recommending this excellet hotel to couples and families alike. If you need to change money, you will get the same, if not better rates by changingit at the hotel than you would at the bank.
Koukounaries is obviously a resort that has grown to support tourism and does not have a centre, instead it is more of a strip of hotels and restaurants, with a couple of bars thrown in. Catching the bus to town in the evening is a must, but there are plen...

Pool and taverna were brilliant. Food was better than quite a few other local taverna's visited.
Beaches were very close to walk to, approx 5-10 mins and were clean and tidy. Favourite beach was Big Banana with white sand and crystal clear sea and not too busy.
Its worth booking a table at the Windmill which is a fantastic restaurant in Skiathos Town. It has a great view and fantastic food. Although a little bit more expensive than the average taverna, it was well worth it for the atmosphere and views. Make sure you book from england prior to travel.
Enjoy your holiday :)

Well this holiday was just fantastic the hotel was great, spotlessly clean and the staff were absolutely fantastic they were so friendly and nothing at all was too much trouble they made us feel right at home. We've made great friends, Vangellas, Ntina, Apollo and Elias they were all great and all the rest of the people who worked there were superb! This is a holiday for people who want peace and a relaxing time. Nightlife was quiet which was just what we wanted.
Food wise, places to go are Ilias Orchard (just a few minutes walk away from hotel) the food was lovely and the staff were friendly, The Windmill very pricy but the food was nice not really a greek restaurant though, Panorama Hotel (BEST RESTAURANT EVER!) honestly the food was gorgeous and well pirced! and our room was only a few seconds walk away if we ever needed anything. Also Elias Restaurant is a place to visit very nice food and friendly staff.
Koukounaries was a lovely beach, didn't go there around midday because warned it could get busy but was good for a lovely, peaceful evening walk. The water was so clear and if you just wade in a paddle for a bit your sure to find a few curious fish. Mandraki beach was very quiet and peaceful, quite a walk down a lovely country lane but it was worth it. Big banana is NOT the nudist beach but little banana is so be warned (lol), didn't go on little banana as thats not our kind of thing but we paid a visit to Big banana, quite busy and definately a beach for the youth visitors to the island, it was still very nice though and relaxing.
Trips to do, well if your looking into island hopping and a boat ride then with first choice there was a trip to do which took you to two nearby islands to Skiathos, not Skopelos though. They were Arco which was nice not much shade though so we were just gathered under a parasol that we had lent off the tour guide. Sugra was the second one very lovely and you can visit small monastry which was beautiful, yet again not much shade. You also get a trip to a small fishing village on the mainland which had nothing really, just a taverna but good views though. Included with the boat trip you get a light breakfast including feta cheese, olives and lovely bread not very good when your sat right in the sun though. That is what i warn you MAKE FOR THE SHADE! You do not want to be sat on the boat out in that sun, we nearly fried and i was near to passing out lol. SIT IN SHADE! Wouldn't really do it again but was a good adventure.
The next day we went on a walk in the mountains called Spirit of Skiathos, now this was worth it! A definate hard walk though and it was so hot aswell but everywhere you looked you just saw beautiful sites. And we visited two monastries that were absolutely gorgeous. The first one we went to there were a group of very hungry kittens they even ate some banana! If you give this walk a try take lots of water and put on lots of suncream!
We also paid a visit to the islands dog sanctuary run by a lovely lady called Helen who was great! It was a really long, hard walk up there so recommend hireing a jeep if you want to pay a visit. We took a gorgeous dog called Evie for a short walk, honestly she was sooooooooooooooo adorable and so friendly. The other dogs were all lovely aswell a small eight week labredor puppy had been brought in the day before after it had been found under a car! (HOW YOU COULD EVER DO THAT TO THIS DOG I DON'T KNOW!) It was so floppy and the cutest thing ever! It was named Lauren after the little girl who found her. They were great people aswell they were so kind and gave us a lift back down to our resort.
Thats another thing, all the other visitors there visiting the island were so nice and friendly we made loads of friends and had people to talk to. Also all the locals were great so helpful, the lady at our local supermarket was lovely and our friend the bus driver! Never regret going here it has been a fantastic first time abroad together, and we are definately, DEFINATELY going back again can't wait!

Have just returned and we've had an excellent holiday - Skiathos is beautiful!

Breakfasts were nice so you could fill yourself up until dinner time!! Traditional greek breakfast - bread, ham, cheese, greek yoghurt, honey, jam and cereal.
Evening meals - we ate at the Panorama on quite a few occasions and it was spot on. Other tavernas worth a mention are Ilia's Orchard and The Village. Drank too much local white wine though!!
Beaches - we loved Big Banana beach as it was exceptionally clean and a bit quieter than the main Koukounaries beach. Don't be put of by the naturists, as they are more to the edges of the beach and tend to go on Small Banana Beach which is over the rocks, or down another path.
Trips - we didn't do any through the rep, however, we hired a jeep for the day and it was really fun! Some roads can be quite scary in the north of the island, but well worth doing it to see a bit more of the island.
Buses - they run every 15 mins in the high season (after 1 June) and are 1.40euros each way, so good to go to Skiathos town (30 mins ride) or stop off at another resort.
Anyone that is going to this hotel or resort - we hope you have as good as time as us!
The hotel is in an ideal position for buses into town and within walking distance of several great beaches. We have never eaten at the place where we stay but made an exception here as the food was excellent and far better than the tavernas we tried locally...
The hotel is in an ideal position for buses into town and within walking distance of several great beaches. We have never eaten at the place where we stay but made an exception here as the food was excellent and far better than the tavernas we tried locally. Our room was spacious and kept spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and helpful Apollo and Sofia especially. The island is largely the coastal resorts the grat port and town and the one main road that links them all. The bus service is cheap often and very efficient. Asprolithos taverna in the town is a must. We also went on the Skopelos and Allonosos boat trip and were fortunate to see dolphins.
All in all a brilliant time with every likelihood we will be returning 2006 and probably again and again.
