Fegeros Apartments Reviews

This was the first holiday we'd had on a Greek Island, everyone told us Skiathos was beautiful and we weren't disappointed. It was everything we thought it would be and more.

The apartments were basic but very clean, there is air conditioning, however it is not available all day, just from 3pm - 8pm and 12am - 8am. The pool bar serves a lovely breakfast and light meals. Georges and Nickos the owners are really friendly, you immediately become part of the Fegeros family, nothing is too much trouble. The apartments are situated up rather a steep hill and is not suitable for the less able. The view from the top though is fantastic.
Skiathos town is a 10 minute walk up the main road, there are some lovely restaraunts, we had a fabulous meal at Polykratis, there are restaraunts up the side streets, these tend to be a little bit cheaper. We recommend lamb kleftiko - mmm...

Megali Amos beach isn't one of the nicest beaches on the island but has good watersports. We used the local bus to travel to other beaches, the bus was a real experience! There are some beautiful beaches to visit, the taverner on Kolos served wonderful sandwiches. The beach at the end of the runway is worth a visit, especially when it's transfer day.

The runway is very short and on the return flight we had to refuel on the mainland, not everyone was told this when they booked their holiday.

We fell in love with Skiathos and the Greek people and will definitely go back someday. If you go to Fegeros please take this with you and say hello to Georges and Nickos.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Skiathos. We stayed at the Fegeros Aparments in Megali Amos. We had 5 sunny days out of 7. Our apartments were in a lovely position overlooking the bay in Megali Amos. Although quite basic, they were very clean and everywhere well maintained. The apartments are family run and Georges and Nickos (two brothers) made us feel very welcome. They spoke perfect english and nothing was too much trouble for them. The apartments are not suitable for people with walking difficulties because of their elevated position.

They are about a 15 minute walk from Skiathos town centre which is full of shops, restaurants and tavernas. We ate out at a different restaurant each evening and had a lovely meal every night. Dinos in the centre of town is a very busy place and the owners make you feel very welcome. We had lunch here a couple of times.

We hired a jeep and explored the other side of the island which was great fun. We went to Mandraki beach which was beautiful and also to the old town of Kastro which is a hike down to the beach but once you get there it is fantastic, well worth the trek.

Caroline our tour rep was brilliant. Very helpful and friendly.

We fell in love with Skiathos island and would definitely recommend it.

Our holiday was slightly spoilt on the way home as we had an aborted landing and also an aborted take off when we refueled on the mainland. The pilot informed us that the last time he had to do one of these was 15 years ago never mind 2 on the same day/flight!! I am a very nervous flyer so this kind of spoilt the flight home.

If you dont like flying then the refueling on the mainland on the homeward journey is not ideal because you have to take off and land twice instead of just the once.

The runway is very short at Skiathos but it wasnt as bad as I thought.

We will definitely be returning to Skiathos in the future although perhaps not by air!
