"Good Family Holiday"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The apartments are basic. The kitchen lacks suitable facilities for adequate self catering - we only managed basic breakfasts using these facilities - which actually turned out to be an excellent excuse for eating out every night which really didn't cost too much. The staff are very friendly and the apartments and surrounding areas are kept very clean. It is very hot and the provision of a fan would not go a miss unless you can afford the 45 euros a week for air conditioning - we succombed!
The hill is manageable and we didn't need any torch and after a couple of goes it really was ok.

"Lovely Apartments, highly recommended. "
Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our second visit to Skiathos, having previously stayed at La Luna Apts and we were not disappointed. The rooms were basic but very clean, the maid who was from Bulgaria was very nice indeed. Our children - 3 girls aged, 16, 11 and 8 - loved the pool, it was cleaned every evening. The hill that everyone seems to talk about is nothing - believe me - that little bit of exercise will do you good. The Areti Apts are ideal for a lovely quiet relaxing holiday. I would recommend the use of a hire car - if you can get one that is. We love Skiathos. It has beautiful beaches, not crowded. Lovely places to eat, Nectar and Ambrosia, Paradosi and Dino's restaurant in Skiathos Town to name a few. Can't wait to go back again to this beautiful little island in the Aegean Sea.

"Skiathos - we will definetly go again!"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Well we are back from Skiathos, not only our first holiday to Skiathos, but our 1st abroad! In one word - FANTASTIC! We went with First Choice, and everything ran like a dream. Booking on line, getting the tickets, the flight, the rep - just everything ran so smoothly. Arriving near Troulos to Areti Aparments, we were greated by a steep bumpy hill to walk up - not for those who like a stroll! But wow the views we amazing. From our balcony sea views all around, not just a distant view but miles of ocean. The apartment was very spacious and we were very impressed at how clean it was. Towels and sheets were changed everyday, and the pool was cleaned also. Alex at the bar was lovely, and made us feel very welcome. The Rep organised a jeep for us from a text message, and it turned up as arranged. Can't fault this holiday in any way. Well apart from the fact we did not want to come back. Our youngest daughter can now swim properly, and our eldest and hubby are hooked on snorkelling.
If you have not been to Skiathos - its a must. Make sure you hire a car for a couple of days to see the quieter beaches and views- def worth doing. Some roads are a bit scary but we were snapping with the camera at every turn.
Enjoy

"Areti Studios and Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Lovely resort, Danielle and her husband very friendly and helpful will do any thing to help, Wasps a bit of a problem my daughter aged 18 mths got stung twice around the pool. View is breathtaking from the rooms and pool but the steep steep hill to the apartment a bit of a killer with two buggys full of water food and wine !!
Rooms basic but v clean you will need air conditioning in August as very hot,we had room 21 next to the maids cupboard and was not dark or noisy. Had a car for 3 days and explored the island had been once before and loved it.
BEACHES, Mandraki relaxed and away from it all,Ketchra beach absolutely idillic bit of a drive but well worth it, only one taverna but did the best greek salad on the island. Koukanaries beach lovely and even in August did not feel too busy. A Must is Banana beach at sunset sooooo cool and both of our girls loved it.
RESTUARANTS The Village at Koukanaries went 3 times lovely stifado and does a good pizza too.Do not go to Georges in Koukanaries when I heard the microwave BING was put off, food average sevice less than average. If in Skiathos Town amble down the side roads and find a simple looking taverna and you will be impressed.
Tempted to go back again this year but will be trying another Island to satisfy our curiosity. All in all if you want a chilled out time with real Greek tradition and food then you will love Skiathos.

"Areti Studios and Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Areti Studios are classed as basic accomodation but are very comfortable and are kept spotlessly clean - the maid even lined our shoes up for us when she came in!
There is a lovely pool - one of the cleanest I have ever seen and plenty of sunloungers. The pool bar does good value snacks and make sure you try one of Daniella's cocktails!! Speaking of Daniella, she and husband Zorran really helped to make our holiday - they are friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them - they were virtually running the place single-handed when we were there.
The studios are up a fairly steep slope but the views out over the sea more than make up for the walk. Troulos itself is fairly quiet but does have some bars and good tavernas - try the Ambrosia and Nectar for food and the Victoria bar - Tim is a mad barman!. The beaches on Skiathos are fantastic - particularly Koukounaries and Vromolimnos. A jeep is a good idea if you want to go to some of the more secluded beaches, buses are cheap and reliable and run until late at night - they do get crowded early morning/late afternoon though. Taxis also cheap but agree a price before you get in - they don't always have the meters running. If you want a livelier night out go to Skiathos town there are some really nice bars - although the ones on the harbour front can be very expensive. En Plo and Medusa are good for food - walk down to the harbour and keep following it round to your left. Lalaria beach and Kastro are good day trips if you can tear yourself away from the sunloungers.
I would recommend Skiathos to anyone and will definitely be going back again!!

"Areti Studios and Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
On arrival at the Areti, we were initially quite concerned. The Areti apartments are actually located in between two resorts at the top of a hill, followed by another steep hill and lots of steps to climb!!
On arrival at our apartment we realised that these are typically basic, as you would expect from Greece. The shower was hand held, with no shower curtain.
As soon as we stepped out onto our balcony, we realised that the amazing view was well worth it. The rooms all had a sea view and the view from the pool area was equally impressive.
The apartments and pool area were spotless and clean. Daniella and Zoran at the pool bar were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
The pool area was always quiet during the day with plenty of sunbeds - no one reserving them with towels which was nice.
We originally planned to hire a car, but we didn't bother because the local bus service was so cheap and reliable that we felt no need for a car.
The buses were every 20 minutes and picked you up right outside the apartments. You can get from one side of the coast to another for just 1 Euro 40 cents (£1).
We would recommend Skiathos Town for shopping and a meal by the harbour. The town is well worth a visit at night.
Take the bus to stop 26 for a visit to Koukounaries beach.
We spent the majority of days on Aghia Paraskevi beach at bus stop 16 - within walking distance and quieter.
All the Tavernas were good - we didn't have a bad meal. Paradosi, Appoloosa and Agelika in Troulos were good.
Skiathos is a beautiful island and is traditional, unspoilt Greece at it's best.
We would definately return and recommend to others.

"Areti Studios and Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We had a lovely holiday at Areti Apartments. Although basic (as you would expect from a two star plus rating)they are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff are really nice, especially Daniella and Zoran who manage the bar, they are very friendly and extremely hard working, nothing is too much trouble. The views are spectacular and well worth the steep, 50m trek to the apartments. The snacks are good value and the cocktails very moreish! The rep was also very helpful.
The pool area is well maintained and there were plenty of sunbeds. While there were several cats (and kittens)they were well fed and not too demanding
The beach at Platanias (also called Aghia Paraskevi) is OK. It slopes quite sharply into the sea and is fairly rocky once you are in the water so is not ideal for families. It is reached either by a 10min walk along the road or down a steepish, sandy set of steps and slopes - if you are not confident with heights, slopes or scrambling then you may wish to go by road. There is a beach at Troulos, although we didn't go there several other holiday makers said it was more family friendly and was about a 20-25min walk.
Platanias is about 10-15mins away and has a few smallish supermarkets and tavernas. Green Park did very good food and large portions but can be difficult to find. Troulos is 8-10mins away and has a couple of larger supermarkets and more tavernas. Both are downhill from Areti and walking back does help you digest your food!
The weather was changeable while we were there (it was the end of August/beginning of September). We had a few days of blazing sunshine and then a spectacular thunderstorm in the night. After that it was overcast and drizzly in the mornings with sunshine in the afternoons. The rep said the weather tends to go in three day cycles so don't despair!
Overall we had a relaxing, enjoyable holiday. Troulos is quiet, so not the place to go to if you want a lively resort, we didn't and had a great time.

Overall Hotel Rating:
areti apts are fabulous despite the steep hill to them. apts are cleaned very regularly, even to the point that the cleaners lined my shoes up -nice and tidy. views are breathtaking. Zoran keeps the pool very clean, nothing lives in it believe me but the cats like it for their drinks.the cats are really freindly and are quite a big part of the holiday especially if you have kids..Daniella makes exceptional cocktails and i am aiming to send her some more to add to her collection... nothing is too much trouble and always a friendly smile... advisable to hire a jeep especially if you want to visit the other side of the island.. the beaches are very clean. we had a fab time and will return.
the first choice rep, wyn was very informative and friendly. she visited the apts very regularly and we will miss her little notes under the door....

"Areti Studios and Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from the areti appartments in troulos skiathos the appartments were very nice with the most amazing views , troulos is extremely hilly with the hill being very steep up to appartments. There are a number of tavernas which are about a 5 or 10 min walk away but on your return back after a night out you are faced with a huge uphill walk back we hired a car for a week and it was a god send. We would definately return to the areti as it was a very relaxing holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Zoran and Daniella who run the pool bar are very nice and friendly and Daniella makes some great cocktails, we have only been home for 5 days and wish we were back there already.

The areti apartments are very clean the views were somthing else. The people who run the apartments are very good the first choice rep was excellent.
We found the island to be very beautiful but you do need a jeep to get to some of the more remote beaches skiathos town is worth a visit at night. We were so impressed we came home and booked for 2005 at the same place. If you like boats we recomend the catamaran trip. Also take atrip to the monastery.
