Just returned from a very relaxing week at the Morfo, we were originally booked for the Morfo 2 apartments fortunately we were moved into the newer block on ground level, this was especially good as we had our 3 year old grand daughter with us. Apartments were some of the best we have had on our travels to Greece, basic as always but very clean and bright.

Troulos is a great place for families with small children, many Tavernas close by, most sites have their own pools and you can use them all, just buy a drink or two. The best pool we found was at the Beltsios hotel (Tiffany bar), down the short cut to the beach. Tony in charge of the pool bar was excellent with our little girl very friendly. The best Taverna we found for meals was turn left leaving the Morfo up to the end of the road, turn right at the T junction and the second I think Taverna on the right called Syrtaki(Blue tables)opposite Yamas. Excellent food ,very friendly, quick service, and relatively cheap. Most Tavernas serve very good food, Captain Nikos (Apaloosa),Villa Rosa, Troulos Bay Hotel all excellent. There are also a couple of bars worth a mention Frog bar, Tiffany bar and Christakis. The little supermarket right from the Morfo was really good (Victoria) you can change money here, english cash, travellers cheques, only take 2% commision. Overall a wonderful holiday, we would recommend this town and these apartments to anyone. Have a wonderful time if you go.

We returned from our holiday in Skiathos feeling like we could have spent another week there! We arrived at the airport (the runway is short but nothing to be concerned about!) Our coach transfer took about 20 minutes. Our rooms both had 3 beds, with sheets pillows etc. at the end of the bed for you to make yourself. The room was basic, but always spotlessly clean. There is a television, showing all Greek Programmes with the occasional American advertisement) The maids visited about 2-3 times in the week, cleaning and changing the bath towels. There was a two-ring hob, kettle, toaster, and all necessary equipment and utensils. To access some of the apartments you have to climb up quite a long strip of stairs, but there is a van which takes up luggage. We were on the ground, where the rooms were all two storeys high. The Morfo has a reasonably priced bar which serves bar snacks (burgers, breakfasts, hotdogs etc.) until about 4:30. The pool at the hotel is not over big; but our kids loved it. Sunbeds were not always available in the mornings. On problem which annoyed me but the kids loved them was the stray cats - there seemed to be hundreds of.

We went to the beach on most days, which is lovely; the sea is fantastic too, and not rough at all. Another beach which you can travel to by bus is Koukenaries, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beach in Troulos is quite far away if you use the roads, but there is a shortcut which takes you past some hotels and bars and a Chinese restaurant.

On the beach there are some beach bars, we found the best one to be the Blue beach bar. Other good places to eat out are the Taverna which is a short walk from the apartments; (I can't remember its' name!) just turn right when leaving the apartments. Captain Nikos (Turn left when leaving the apartments) is also good. Also, when you turn right out of the hotel, you reach another lovely Taverna inside a hotel, the Villa Rosa. If you don't want to eat out, or you need to buy food for breakfast, there is a small supermarket called Victoria Supermarket (Again turn right out of the hotel). This is a short walk away, and has many English brands but also Greek ones, which are cheaper. The peple in this shop are lovely and very helpful.

We did not visit Skiathos town, but you can take a bus ride there for a few euros, the bus leaves from the top of the road. It can get very crowded, and is uncomfortable on hot days, but the town is lovely. On our return journey, we had to stop off in Thessaloniki, on mainland Greece for refuelling; this took about half an hour, however I don't think every flight/tour operator does this. Our rep was very helpful, and there are a wide range of trips from First Choice, on Skiathos and visiting neighbouring islands or even Athens itself. Sorry for going on a bit, but I hope you find this helpful.

Overall, the apartments are a great, simple base for exploring a beautiful island.

Troulos is the type of place that you either love or hate.It is a very small laid back kind of a place, and having been there 6times in the last 4 years i guess we love it! The people are very friendly and can become good friends if you REMEMBER that you are in their country and accept their way of life. There are some excellent eating places in troulos, and we have always enjoyed the food in Captain Nikos Appollosa bar, and the Villa Rosa, both of these places being clean and well run by the friendliest people you could ever wish to meet (the peppered steak in nikos's really is worth trying).

Another tip we would like to pass on is dont change your money before you go!!! The Victoria supermarkrt (100 yards right out of the Morfo) will usually give you a better rate with out charging commision. Yes the accomodation is quite basic, but where in Greece do you get five star treatment for ten bob prices? Another tip that is REALLY worth remembering is if you have an accident and dont have your medical insurance with you DONT PANIC!!!!! the medical centre in Skiathos town WILL TREAT YOU free OF CHARGE AS LONG AS YOU CAN PROVE YOU ARE A BRITISH CITIZEN!!! Dont get ripped off by going to one of the private doctors as they just see you as a money tree. Troulos beach is great too 3 euros a day for the sun beds ...you cant go wrong!!! Most of all remember to have fun!!!

just returned from morfo apartments in troulos. they have three different types of apartments.some older than others. if you went on the web site in one of the photos they have 2 cream coloured apartment blocks these are the new ones that we stayed in . they are basic but very clean these have air conditioning on which they charge 84 euros for the two weeks that we stayed. we asked the rep for a fan to hire but she said she wasnt allowed because air con was installed . only allowed to rent to those without it ! and you needed it because it was very hot!

the cleaners are there every day they dont always knock!. so we took the key off the electric card and kept the key in the door! if they come when you are out they leave the balcony door open ! and a small bathroom window open! the kitchen is a sink unit with 2 rings,1 pan 1 frying pan and a kettle and toaster some untensils no work space the bathroom has a shower wasnt hot very often! no curtain so becomes very slippery !

the pool soon become full . troulos beach is about 20 mins walk away !and is lovely! turn left out of the morfo walk to the end .and then right at the supermarket . the bus service every 15 mins from about 7 am to 1.30 am 1.40 euro each. go right out of the morfo to a taverna next to the victoria supermaket meals here are very good. ! better than the morfo and the chairs dont dig in you! the are a few bars the angelika and the sports bar where good.if you want to visit a dog rescue shelter and your a good walker ( if you dont have transport ) to take a dog for a walk .its quite rewarding but a bit of steep walk keep going passed the tip !head for the monestry assalinos beach is also good but has a rough sea! if you havent been to greece in general they dont flush loo paper down the loo so take some nappy bags to put the bin!

we had a go time but in troulos is very quiet forgot to mention that there also is a fridge with small freezer and tv - safety deposit box hope you have a great time !

What a fantastic island! I would like to echo all the good things that others have said. The authorities have done a great job in containing development so that the hotels, apartment blocks and villas are mostly unobtrusive. Without exception, I found the islanders very friendly and helpful and generally easy going. Our first visit but definitely worth a repeat visit.

We went for one week at the end of June. We were expecting to stay in the Morpho 2 block up the hill but our First Choice rep kindly put us in a couple of adjoining apartments in the newer Morpho block on the flatter ground. Not such a good view but closer to the pool and taverna, etc. The apartment has air conditioning rather than the hired cooling fans that we were expecting. This was very welcome at the temperatures were in the 30s for most of our stay. We only ate at the Morpho taverna a couple of times but the food was very good and the prices very reasonable. Unlike some of the others that have commented on the staff, we found everyone at the Morpho very friendly and helpful. The site is very well laid out. The proprietor of the Victoria supermarket just up the road is very amiable and gives out free packs of water if you spend enough euros.

Troulos itself has lots of great tavernas. We especially liked the one situated next to the number 18 bus stop sign for its more traditional Greek hospitality, including a free drink with the bill. We also liked the Troulos Beach Hotel as, is you choose your table carefully, you can sit and look at the little island and across the water to the lights on the mainland. Another hit was the Nectar and Ambrosia restaurant up the long flight of steps near to bus stop 19, which is more up market but very reasonably priced and the food is excellent. There is a handy shortcut back to the Morpho from the Troulos beach, passing the Chinese Restaurant and the Byzantium Studios before bringing you out on the Asselinos road a bit further up hill from the Morpho. This saves having to walk along the main road. The only time we had a problem with the food is when we ate at one of the tavernas that fronts onto the beach. We all had upset stomachs the next morning and it was a bit overpriced as well!

Troulos beach is very picturesque and the sand is wonderful. The beach is well run and the taverna set back up the hill affords good views as well as selling excellent take-away beach snacks. The only other beach we visited was the excellent Koukounaries about which much is said elsewhere. Since we visited in June and not in the height of the season, both beaches were far from crowded.

If you get the chance and fancy something different, go to the Koukounaries horse-riding centre. (One web site I looked at said it is in Troulos but it moved quite a few years ago.) You can book in advance at the centre or at some of the tourist offices but not via the First Choice rep. We went for the one-hour slow ride up on the cliffs and the views across the water are truly spectacular. I had only been on the back of a horse twice before, although the rest of the family are fare more experienced. The proprietor led the ride with myself close behind. The horses are so well trained that they responded to his voice and did not need much intervention from the riders. A very memorable and enjoyable experience.

Skiathos Town is very picturesque, especially along the waterfront and is well worth exploring. Some of the souvenir shops have very good quality merchandise so it is worth a good look round before buying.

Vehicle hire is very varied and ranges from motorbikes, through quad bikes and beach buggies, to cars and small four by fours. This is essential if you wish to explore the island other than the south coast. That having been said, the bus service from Skiathos Town Harbour to Koukounaries Beach is excellent and again reasonably priced. The bus stop numbering is a great help if you cannot remember place names and these are usually announced, in English, by the driver. Just because there is only a bus stop on one side of the road does not mean that it does not stop on the opposite side. You just have to guess where. Although sometimes crowded, we never had to stand on the bus but it helps if you get on at the Bus Terminal in Skiathos rather than one of the later stops. The Banana Beach web site is mainly devoted to the nudist, beach and the photos on the home page reflect that but is worth a look as it gives a good overview of the island, including most of the bus stop numbers and what is to hand.

The First Choice reps on the island were very efficient, friendly and helpful and made every effort to make our holiday enjoyable. A map of Troulos would have been helpful as sometimes it is difficult to tell if you are on the right track or heading for someone's front door. The First Choice flights in and out were on time and we were well looked after. The only complaint that I have is about the in-flight film. On both flights, it was continuously interrupted by announcements, some useful but some quite annoyingly trivial. The booklet that First Choice send out and which contains the flight tickets, etc is packed with information and offers. Unfortunately, I did not spot some of these until it was too late to use them.

Skiathos Airport is very up to date and our baggage was handled very quickly and efficiently in both directions. Check in was easy and there is even a counter selling refreshments in the Departure Gate area. Pick up a free Sky Map in the Arrivals Hall as it contains a lot of useful information, although some of the bus stops positions are not very accurate. Although the runway is close to Skiathos Town, the flight path is such that aircraft noise is not really a problem.

Apart from the wasps and mosquitoes, we found a couple of ";holiday club"; touts were a bit of a pest and had an annoying habit of screeching to a halt as we walked along the main road and trying to push the dreaded scratch cards into our hands. Beware shouts of ";Are you British and friendly?"; as elsewhere.

Having said all that, the island is still very Greek. We met up with a lot of people who go back year after year and I can quite see why. It is a great place to unwind and our week there seemed like so much longer. Always a very good sign.

The first thing I must say is don't be put off by people telling you how small the runway is in Skiathos, it really isn't bad. That said the airport itself is very small with one baggage carousel and just three toilets for the ladies. My advice is use the loo on the plane before you land or risk being caught short with the 100 other women on the plane! Nothing is more frustrating than standing in a queue with your legs crossed while your partner strolls effortlessley in and out of the mens...

The tranfer time was roughly 40 minutes to Troulos. Once at the apartments, the rep got our keys from behind the bar (there is no reception) and we went to our room. Equipt with the usual kitchen essentials, two rings and a sink lined the back wall. The sleeping area was clean and had plenty of space for the two of us, whilst the satelite TV was a godsend for two footie fans in the middle of the World Cup. The pool area is very clean, and although the restarant food was quite basic, it was cheap and served it's purpose.

Turn left out of the apartments and you come to a fork in the road by some restarants and a supermarket. Watch out for Captain Nicko to the right on your way down there, a fat cheerful Greek who you can't help but like and will happily supply you with enough ouzo to make you forget how awful our national team really is.

Keep going and you come to a fork in the road. At this junction there are two lovely restaurants, both very cheap. The set 3 course menu at the one over the road (sorry, too much wine has destroyed my capacity to remember the names, but look closely and you'll see plenty of cheeky starlings flying in and out) was extremely good and with 1/2 ltr wine each a bargain at 9 euros each. The one on the same side as the apartments was also a good place to spend a lazy evening. Look out for the owner's wife, who first worked in Skiathos as a rep some 20 years ago and never left. It's easy to understand why.

The bus stop is on the opposite side of the road to go into Skiathos Town, and for about two euros you can risk life and limb to make the journey which only takes about 15 minutes. If there's a sign on the bus saying room for 54 seated, 12 standing, ignore it. Houdini himself would be hard pressed to squeeze any more bodies onto a bus than the driver and his conductor. But please don't let this put you off. They always seemed to make sure people with children had enough air, and on the way back after a couple of vinos you probably won't be too bothered anyway.

Skiathos Town was a really lovely suprise. Cobbled streets, unique shops, good restaurants, pretty harbour and winding alleyways that could come straight off a postcard. Plus there were more bars with candles and bean bags than you could shake your moussaka at.

The beaches (of which there are many) were clean and the sea shallow and blue, ideal for kids who want to splash about while the adults. The one nearest to the apartments in Troulos (left at the fork in the road then about a 7 min walk)didn't have as many watersports, which was great for us.

We flew back with First Choice who don't re-fuel, which is worth considering when you choose your tour operator.

If you want somewhere cheap to relax with quite nightlife then Troulos is for you. Mix this with cosmopoliton Skiathos Town which has more than enough cool bars and restaurants to keep even the fussiet Londoners enterained, and you have a great holiday. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Just come back from a 2 week stay in skiathos. What a fantastic place!

Arrived safely on the runway ahead of schedule, and as the airport is so small the luggage was waiting for us on the carousel. So very little time spent waiting to get on the coach straight to our resort within 30 minutes.
Excellent when you have children who don't like waiting around!

Arrived at morfo 2 which is just off the main road then up a track and some steep steps. even though we had a pram it didnt bother us that there was a bit of a climb, as apart from that it was a flat walk to the bus stop and the tavernas, as not as far to them as indicated in the brochure. The bus stop was just under 5 minutes stroll which will take you anywhere along the main stretch of the island - from skiathos town to koukounaries for 1.40 euros per adult.
We didnt get charged for our daughter (2) and the driver would get off the bus and store our pram in the luggage compartment which was good.

The studio we stayed in typical basic greek style with small shower that even with the shower curtain soaks all the floor in the bathroom through!
Room on the small side which we could handle but not enough storage space just one small wardrobe with two tiny drawers so had to live out of the suitcase aswell. Kitchen equipped to allow to cook meals - however as with most mini ovens/hobs it takes a lot longer to cook than it does in england. Balcony small but good view of the pool and surrounding area, nice and quiet.
Safe and TV free of charge. No air conditioning but a fan could be borrowed for 15 euros a week or 25 euros for 2 week. As we went in may we didnt need to.

Overall accomodation good for using as a base.
Pool was nice cleaned each morning and night, first week was quiet but second week full of kids (half-term week).
People staying at morfo which is situated just off the road on ground level also share this pool.
Snack bar for drinks and food reasonable prices. Taverna served food at night, not the best food but ok.

Best beaches: koukounaries, banana - banana quieter than koukounaries but same gorgeous beach, hard to get to - a steep uphill climb on the way back was hard in the heat but well worth it.
Troulos beach was a nice beach, sea was deeper here.

Taxis good if you want a quick ride to the town/ beach. just make your way to the main road and flag them down. From troulos to town it cost 8.50 euros and took 10 to 15 minutes. Be careful as some do try to rip you off.

Ate out at the grill house - parodisi in troulos, green meadow, appoloosa- or captain nikos - all good, best value and tastiest food appoloosa.
Average price 8 euro for a main course chicken/pork. 15 euro for a steak. Housewine 3-4 euro half a litre.
For a cheaper alternative get a gyro from skiathos town very tasty and filling 2.20 euros.

Visited a couple of tavernas in the town, generally speaking those on the harbour front overpriced and not good portions.
Don't order a ham cheese bacon sandwich from the tavernas on the front - you will pay 5 euros and get a very small thin toastie with no chips/ salad. Mourya taverna beautiful up one of side streets off papadiamantis street, excellent food excellent service free ice cream and cakes after our meal. Stamatis taverna up the hill overlooking the harbour ( after the steps where the pillows are) very good value however very salty meals both times we ate there so ask for no salt.

The town is very trendy now near the harbour with many fancy bars - which do come at a price. 8 euro for a small (250ml) mythos and a small sprite on the cushions.

Walk down to the 'clubstrip' which has nice tavernas right on the sea, walk a bit further round and you will reach the bottom of the runway. Excellent for watchin the planes land right over your head!

Overall skiathos is a perfect place for someone wanting a quiet relaxing holiday in a resort but can easily access the more bustling nature of the town.
Some reviews say that skiathos has become too touristy and not typically greek.
That is not true- the town has changed and has been modernised for the better but the resorts are very greek and have hardly changed since i last visited 8 years ago.

We went to the morfo 2 apartments on a last minute deal with first choice.
Firstly I must point out we only used our apartment as a base, we were out and about for most of the time, exploring different parts of the island. Some people would say skiathos has grown too touristy, and although we went in the low season, we thought the island and its permanent residents were undeniably, very Greek.

This is not an island for people who are looking for a big, ";blot on the landscape"; resort hotel with its own section of beach that they never have venture out of. If you want that go to Spain, and stop tying to spoil other countries. In fact, as in many other islands in Greece there have been laws passed, stating only buildings that ";blend in with the landscape"; can be built. unfortunately this came to late for koukanaries, where the steel/pvc eyesore, the skiathos ";palace"; is glaring out one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

There is only one real town on skiathos and one main road; the other villages were mostly made up of self catering complexes, with nice clean pools, and good bars serving cocktails with comfortable seats, and good facilities. Troulos was typical of this description, and some might say it would be the second village of skiathos, with a nice beach and a lot of very good tavernas. The only shops in Troulos are supermarkets, but they do get the English papers and USA today in the afternoon, and sometimes the day after. There are a couple of supermarkets; however that sells books (Dan brown, Martina Cole, etc.) and sell souvenirs, and books on Greece. Troulos is predominately a British area, although when you visit you will find a good mix of Dutch, Italian, German, and American tourists in the Skiathos town area.

There is a good bus service on Skiathos that comes every fifteen minutes, and although it can be irregular, it has nothing on the English bus service! It runs from the new harbor area in skiathos town, to koukanaries, which is the entire length of the main road. All you do is get on and wait for the conductor who will come and take your fare. When you're not using the bus service the main thing is to always take a map, and don't be afraid to hitch hike. We were offered lifts a few times without even trying. The Greek people are very hospitable in general, and will always be recommending restaurants, and other islands they think you would like, and are basically, 99% of the time are a pleasure to be around.

The restaurants on Skiathos are normally of excellent quality, and any reviews that you see of all the taverns being of poor quality, you should probably ignore. It is because there are so many taverns on skiathos, they are competing against each other, for quality and price to keep the customers happy and it is unlikely you will have a bad meal. The one restaurant I will mention is the Windmill. You will hear a lot about this restaurant, before you go and while you are there. It is the most expensive restaurant on the island, and it has the most stunning views you will ever see. But in my opinion, the food there leaves something to be desired. we both ordered chicken and potatoes, expecting the yummy traditional Greek herby fried potatoes and chicken, I for one was rather disappointed to receive half a roast chicken (literally, it was just a roast chicken cut in half), and three potatoes hash browns. I must admit they were cooked perfectly, but for the prices they charged, we expected a little more. I believe you really do only pay for the gorgeous view.

When you arrive on skiathos your tour operator will offer you lots of trips and excursions around the island, and although these seen reasonable enough for a better deal, you should head down to the new harbour around 9.00 in the morning, and you will be inundated with the tour boats captains for exactly the same tours for about half the price. The main excursion they will offer you is the around island cruise, which stops first at Lalaria, with its sky blue and emerald green waters and perfectly round pebbles (it is a pebble beach)it is a stunning place to visit, although it can become very busy in the peak season. Next on the tour boat itenery is usually Kasto, or castle, as it is in English. The beach here is unique with grey sand and shingle and its taverna with its dry grass roof it has almost Caribbean feel.

The climb up the cliff to kastro is quite difficult, but once you get there you can see why the people chose this spot to build their castle. You can still see the remains of the old castle gate, which defended the people against the Turkish invaders, and pirates, who at this time were plaguing most of the Greek islands, most notably the pirate Barbarossa, and his crew.
Other tour boats that leave the harbour every morning include trips going to Pelion on the main land, and tsougria, which rumour has the Beatles, and more recently George cloony have tried to buy.

In Skiathos town you will have great choice of craft shops, greek product shops, and the usual souviner shops, and a great selection of bars, resturants, (including a very nice indian)fish tavernas and snack bars. If you need to walk off your meal, then my suggestion is to follow the old harbour round to the left from papdiamantis street until you get to the runway. When saying the runway i dont mean a bar or club, (although there is a bar there) but to the airport runway, which you can walk to within about 40 feet of, and watch the airplanes landing and taking off from about 60 feet above you. you can also wave to the pilots, taxing to take off. it will make for some fantastic pictures, but do expect to go half deaf for the rest of the afternoon!
The runway at Skiathos is apparently the shortest in the world, and landing there can be quite mad, for people who are afaid of flying this is fair enough, but any negative reviews should be ignored, because its not that bad!

There is a negative point to be made about Skiathos however as it is a mountionous pine island, wasps are a huge problen there. Luckily we were never stung, but this is probably because I am allergic to wasp stings, which made you extra carful. Others weren't so lucky.

All in all we had a perfect holiday, and you counldn't have asked for better in our rep, Win, but we did have one major gripe on the last day. Our flight was not until 18.30, and as we wanted to enjoy our last day as opposed to hanging around troulos all day with nothing to do, we asked for our bags to be taken with the bags for the earlier flight to Manchester, and stored at the airport. Upon arriving at the airport however, we discovered our bags had been left outside for the day by the coach park. Not what we were expecting at all, considering the current ";terrorisn threats";, we found it hard to believe they had been left there all day unsupervised.
This was the only complaint for an otherwise perfect holiday!

To sumerise, Skiathos is a great place to go, with fantastic beaches and people and food!!

I thought I would share my recent holiday with you as I found other reviews helpful...

A brief briefing!

To start with, don't worry the plane landing was fine for me! Our transfer service to the resort / apartments was on time and quick. When you first arrive at the apartments you may think you're in the middle of nowhere. fear not! The Morfo Apartments are close to restaurants, food shops and bars, which are spread around a bit - all adequate and worth a try! Also the local beech and bus stops are a 10min walk away. The local beech excellent and the local bus service were cheep, hot and a bit scary at times!

We where lucky enough to meet another couple who also had a young daughter, as we enjoyed their company for most of our stay. (Hope you're all well)

Reading other ratings / reviews prior to our holiday some did not match up to our experiences, but I surpose some are old reviews and everyone has different opinions. We and other guests at the Morfo found that the apartments, pool and the grounds where kept in excellent order. The rooms where cleaned every other day along with new bed linen and towels. It's a good base.

Things we did, which I would recommend.

- The local beech in the morning, pool afternoon with a large cold draught beer!
- Skiathos town in the evening, worth finding the Windmill restaurant and booking a table - food and view was awesome, also in the main town there is a quality fish restaurant within the old port you can't miss it, its adjacent to the fish market with blue chairs.
- Take a boat trip from Troulos beech (The ones from town are packed full of tourists) we had about eight people sharing a big boat, awesome views of the island.
- Take a horse and cart ride from the Skiathos town port up to the airport.
- Hire a boat from the beech for the day and explore at your own leisure! Just try not to disturb nudes on private beeches! And make sure the engine is revving highly!

Only unfortunate bits where the grumpy owners and bar staff at the Morfo apartments (although one young girl was happy to help!) and the Troulos Chinese restaurant in the field! We walked out! Don't bother I would have rather waited until I got home for a Chinese meal (which we did)

We had an excellent holiday and with great company, I would recommend it to anyone, I will return after a few years of different holiday hit list destinations.

All the best, Charlie, Karen and Maia.

The accommodation was fabulous. We stayed in the block of rooms at the far end away from the bar. Big, bright, airy rooms that were kept really clean and a maid came in every day to tidy plus a change of linen half way through the week. Basic utensils to make snacks in the kitchen that was clean too. Troulos had everything you would need and the beach was a ten minute walk away. The beach was really nice and not crowded.

You have to get the bus into town for the experience!! we used it all the time and it was cheap! Try and get on at bus stop number 1 when in Skiathos town so you have a good chance of getting a seat. For a snacky lunch get a gyros at the ";No Name"; eaterie which is just up a back street but you can see the sign above the shop as you walk up the main street from the harbour. Its cheap and taste good and you can sit outside. All the locals use it. The Windmill restaurant was a good old trek up the back streets but we thought the menu was expensive so we just took photos as the view was great.

Overall if you want a peaceful holiday to chill out and take it easy Skiathos will provide!!!

we really enjoyed our holiday to Troulos.
It was our first time to Skiathos but it won't be our last!
During the day we caught the bus which runs every 10 mins and is always on time to different beaches, our favourite was Koukounaries.

In the evening we would go to Skiathos Town where there are many lovely restaurants, our favourite being The Windmill which is a bit of a climb but also a lovely one which takes u through the pretty greek streets. Once at The Windmill the view is fantastic and also the food is great, slightly more expensive but great for a special occasion.
We enjoyed cocktails at the Rock and Roll bar if u go before 9pm it is happy hour!
Weather was lovely but we did have a couple of days where it was very windy.

Think i will be going back next year as this was one of my favourite greek hols!

Just returned from Skiathos - Troulos. What a great place to visit..sun,beaches,food excellent and locals are really friendly. Travelled about the island by local bus 80p to wherever you want to go and this runs every 15 mins. Air conditioning too ! Other half had a moped and we met up at the beach... bliss ! Beaches are very clean and sea is really clear.

Went on a cruise around the islands 30 euros for the day on the agt. nikholias boat from Skiathos Harbour, calling at Skeopelos and Lannasos.Excellent value lunch included - even saw the Dolphins. Jailhouse restaurant was excellent with nice views over the harbour. Koukanaries, banana , norvos and troulos are great beaches to visit. Bars/Clubs suitable for all ages in Skiathos town from Live bands to cocktail bar/clubs depending on your mood.

Really looking forward to returning next year. A totally relaxing holiday and a safe place to be :)

This was our first holiday on Skiathos and I must admit I'm in love with it! The Morfo 2 was adequate for us as a base, the plus side being they are spotless and clean the down side being a small cloudy pool crowded with children (We found better pools at Villa Rosa and Golden Beach in Koukanaries). As a couple we were out every day and never saw the maids but the ";caretaker"; lives above the apartments and helps with any wants and needs like an extra pillow or the card for the fan. We returned every day to a fresh spotless room with clean towels and linen four times in our two week stay.

The beaches are fantastic. I took to Kolios beach as it seemed to have a friendly atmosphere and the best value Taverna - The Sand Bar - for lunch on the whole island, the biggest Greek Salad and the biggest and best seafood sald for 4 euros and seven euros respectivelively (the taverna on Tzaneria beach gave us a shrivelled manky omelette for 7 euro!)

The fish in Kolios bay are also the biggest, tamest and possibly have the sharpest teeth!! ouch!! They love soft bread hand fed to them!!!
Best restaurant in Troulos - Appaloosa
Best restaurant in Skiathos Town - Scuna past the bus terminus down towards the night clubs. Did the Windmill (which is very good) but a bit too classy to eat there every night even though we bumped into the English owner John touting every night at the bus terminus. Great guy! we liked him.

I would go back to Skithos and Troulos like most people we spoke to who were on their sixth or seventh visit. Overall an excellent compact island with its own unique airport.
