Thassos is a beautiful island with some stunning quiet beaches but Skala Rahoni was not one of these, it is really quite untidy in areas away from the hotels with carrier bags and rubbish that probably gets washed up from the mainland. My husband and I dont like busy hectic resorts, but had we not had a car for 7 out of the 14 days we were there we would have been very bored. There are only a few tavernas, Gekas was by far the best and no other entertainment what so ever in the village. The Hotel staff are very friendly the rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious, bedlinen and towels are changed regularly, the food at the beach bar and the weekly BBQ is absolutely delicious. But the building-grounds maintenance is non existent and really lets this hotel down hence why we gave it an average overall when rating it (considering it is only 4 years old,) the decking area is extremely dangerous and needs replacing as soon as possible as a number of boards had rotted and snapped, floor tiles at the edge of the path leading from the pool to hotel were broken, brackets were hanging off parasols on the beach, sunbeds need a good scrubbing and the beach area should be raked each morning as it had lots of rubbish on it. The island its self if very scenic, tranquil and traditional our favorite beaches are makryammos(dont be put u off by pay to use this beach 3 euro each its worth it)paradise, and trypti, psili ammos is stunning but one of two tavernas there plays horrendously loud music. The villages of Panagia and Kazaviti are a must to visit not only in the day but for a traditional greek meal on a evening in the village squares.Limenaria the old capital is a lovely place to visit and has some nice restaraunts and shops as does thassos town which is best visited at night when cooler, Potos market on a Monday is worth a visit food, shoes, clothes, bags, belts etc but go early and dont park on main road as you will get a ticket. My husband said this island was the most easy and enjoyable to drive round (because there is very little traffic no circles or traffic lights and it is impossible to get lost). We would most definately return to Thassos but not to Skala Rachoni other parts of the island are a lot more scenic and interesting

Just arrived back from the Alexandra Beach hotel, and would go back tomorrow! We booked a late deal with Thomson, and was reassured with the reviews on this site and others, and was not disappointed. We are a 'more mature' couple and were looking for a relaxing, fairly quiet holiday, and that is exactly what we got, though I would imagine that the hotel would be equally suitable for younger couples and families with children.

The hotel is very clean, and the only downsides that I can see are that the beach at the hotel is very 'pebbly' and that the service at the bars can be very slow - I think they are going to have to buck up their ideas a bit when the season gets into full swing! The food is excellent, with plenty of choice - even chips for breakfast if that is what you want!

It is about 10 minutes walk to the shops and bars in Potos, and about 20 mins walk into Pefkari. I can heartily recommend the Boomerang Bar (say hello to Alex, Abe and Joe), and if you book them the day before their sun beds are free, and the beach in Potos itself is sandy rather than pebbles.

If you are looking to go to Potos, please do. It is relatively unspoiled and very beautiful,

We have recently returned from two weeks at the Filipidis Studios at Golden Beach. The studios are excellent – spotless and well-equipped and their location perfect. We had absolutely no problems with the camp site opposite, very few wasps, no problems with dogs, and amazingly, no mozzies at night!

Food was very good and many of the tavernas are located at the edge of the beach. After reading the negative reviews of the Fedra we were loath to eat there but decided we should try it for ourselves. We ate there twice and each time found all the staff extremely polite, friendly and efficient. We were made to feel very welcome and the food was very good.

Our favourite tavernas were the Sotiris, Vigli, The Green Sea (on the way to Skala Potamia) and surprisingly the Fedra.

Just returned from two weeks at the Socrates and feel totally refreshed and relaxed. We chose Thassos as we wanted a quite holiday and we weren't disappointed. The island is quiet with the resorts themselves generally offering a small selection of restaurants and bars. They never got busy while we were there, even in Thassos Town.

Don't let the fact that there is no airport put you off, it is very well organised by Thomson. there is some waiting around to get the ferry, but there is time to pop into a taverna for a drink and relax.

Skala Prinos itself isn't the prettiest of resorts and is quiet. there are around 5 restaurants, some snack bars and a few bars. The beach is small and sunbeds are limited on the beach. We went round the island looking at other resorts, Golden Beach/Skala Potamia has the best beach, whilst Potos and Limenaria have smaller beaches but more bars and restaurants, it depends what you want really.

The Socrates Hotel was a lot better than expected really for a 2star hotel, really clean, ideally located on the beach. Only complaint really was the lack of sunbeds (which we had to pay for) and the self-catering facilities.

Excellent holiday overall and would definately recommend Thassos to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday.

Have just returned from a week at the Makryammos Bungalows hotel, which are situated on a mountain side above a beautiful beach amongst pine trees and woodlands hence the number of mozzies, came back with loads of bites so go prepared with your repellant gel and plug in. Bungalows are very well equipped with air con, fridge TV and although clean, house keeping is a bit hit and miss with towel changes etc. Only downside is if you are at the top of the hill which we were then it is a long climb back up winding paths and steps from the beach and restaurant. The paths and steps are not very well lit at night as you get nearer the top. There are lots of friendly deer around the place and peacocks and other wildlife to be seen. Food in the restaurant is very nice and all the staff are friendly, drinks a bit pricey compared to Thassoss Town which is about a forty minute walk downhill, but do get a taxi back up 5 euros well worth it. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday then this place is ideal but if its lively night life you are looking for then give it a miss.

Pool area very clean could do with a few more sunbeds. we ate at some really good tavernas on the sea front at very reasonable prices. reccomend Krambousa, Magic Sea,Captains. Green sea was overrated service poor and food not what we ordered. Hired a car from Potos for 3 days very good rate. went around the island and visted the villages, views were fantastic and it was very pleasant driving loads of places to stop to admire the view. Loved Aliki Bay the setting is stunning and we spent lovely afternoon on beach after exploring all the old ruins. THE Island fascinated us as it sparkles and we booked a day trip with Rose who took us up the mountain treks and gave us lunch and explained all bout the island. Will definetly be going back to Thassos

We have just returned from one weeks holiday at the hotel korina,it was our first time in thassos and can not wait to go back . The hotel itself was more than we hoped very clean rooms, very comfortable , and very nice owners who must work very hard to achieve such standards. The ferry crossing was great, no luggage, time to unwind on the port with a drink and no luggage to hassle about. The resort itself was wonderful for our age especially quiet , tavernas ,and very nice locals who always had a word whether in shops or out and about. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the front of Skala, but the green sea is a must for lunch on the front and very reasonable, Restaurant korelli food is fantastic home made chips with greek food what more can one ask. Be prepared to put on weight but its worth it for a lovely relaxing holiday on a beautiful island we are saving already, this time for two weeks.

We found a beautiful hotel called the Golden Sunset, turn right at the T-junction opp' the mediterranean about 10min walk down the lane. They did delicious light snacks at lunch-time and very tasty evening meals resonable prices plus the added advantage of beaufiful indoor and outdoor surrounding -also the free use of the pool and sun-lounges. Great friendly owners so so pleasant.

Had a great time in thassos, tzakis and his team are great, nothing was too much trouble, he even lent me money and went out specially to get me cigarettes. Hotel Dionyssos is on a steep hill but the views are breath taking. We were regulars at daves bar, which is a lot of fun. Also ate at the vigli restaurant which is very good. All in all a great place to see and stay, but would advise only for independant travelers as no british tour company uses Dionyssos now. just as well really as the 'here we go crowd' would ruin it.
