"Anna Beach Apartments review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
First time to a Greek Island so disappointed, generally, with the standard of accommodation - which we were told was normal for the Greek Islands. We went self catering.
We were allocation on arrival and sent to Anna Beach Resort Hotel in Limineria. A small, ";friendly";, family run place. The initial intro talk from the hosts gave us all the information we needed. 5 Euro extra for a/c per night if we wanted it, 5 Euro to hire the safe for the week, only 6 Euro to change our money with them as opposed to the local banks, only X Euro to use the telephone, only Y Euro to use the internet service and only 3.50 Euro for the cocktails - as we were special guests. It all seemed just money, money, money. The a/c and safe were, of course, payable in advance which we took.
We were given room 204 which was a side facing apartment and quite dull and dark. The room was very basic and superficially clean. Two single beds pushed together provided our 'double' bed. Two single bed sheets provided our covers. Two out of three pillows had pillow cases and the third was absolutely disgusting. It was originally white but stained like the colour of used tea bag. After asking for 4 days we were eventually given a pillow case to cover it. I didn't dare take off the case from the two that were covered for fear of what I'd find.
We had two rings and a fridge as our kitchen area. The provision of pots, pans, plates etc was poor. One knife, one fork, one spoon - although treated to two plates and two cups (one cracked)! We asked for a change of room but surprise, surprise, none available. We called the Thompson 24 hour line for help to be told that every room in every hotel in every resort was full and we had no chance of moving. Fat load of help that was! However we were promised that on the following Sunday (i.e. 1 week later) we'd be moved by our hosts...We decided to grin and bare it for a week. More on moving later...
We had to purchase our own pan since the one provided meant the sausages and bacon we tried to cook stuck like brown stuff to a blanket.
The room was cleaned every 3 days. A wet mop slopped around the floor only served to moved the hairs and dirt from once area of the floor to another.
In fairness we were always warmly greeted by our hosts with ";friend"; this and ";friend"; that whenever we bumped into them although, to be honest, it all seemed a bit false. Their ear to ear smiles and term ";friend"; disappeared, temporarily, if we elected not to eat in their eating area of a night. We always felt so special, upon arriving back from our travels during the day, that they had a ";special table for 2 persons, friend"; reserved for us. Pressure to eat or drink with them was a little OTT. We only ate once with them which was enough for us to try other places instead.
A wander outside to the beach in front of the hotel where we ";could use the beds for free"; *gee thanks* provided us with a disappointing few square feet of beech which was packed as gave us no room to swing a cat. Lots of rocks on the sea bed. I have to say that the water was lovely though, as is all water in Thassos. Limineria resort beaches were disappointing though - generally speaking.
Since our hotel and few feet of beach were so disappointing we hired a car for the two weeks and got out and about. Thassos is very beautiful and the sea water is fantastic. So clean you could drink it. The beaches are generally small and disappointing (lots of pebbles and beaches small in size). There are some nice beaches (e.g. Golden Beach) but you'll need a car to get to them. If you're located at Golden Beach then great but if you're at Limineria you do need to get out for decent beaches.
Due to the intro of the Euro, it's a bit pricey. Food starting to get pricey and poorly presented with no thought on making it appetizing. i.e. you literally might get a huge leg of lamb with a plate of chips with rice. Certainly not Nouvo Cuisine which might interest those after quantity not quality.
After the first week had gone by we looked forward to moving rooms but alas were disappointed when the hosts told us that they'd looked at their arrivals lists for that day and that they were actually not going to move us after all since the other rooms were bigger and more suited for three people that us two!
Despite the above report sounding a bit negative we did actually enjoy our holiday very much. The car hire got us out of Limineria and to some lovely waters. Anna Beach Hotel left us feeling disappointed though and we wouldn't return.

Overall Hotel Rating:
Just spent two weeks at the Anna Beach. On arrival allocated rooms on the 4th floor and asked if a lower floor was a possibility as there is no lift.We were finally allocated a room on the 3rd floor. The picture in the brochure gives you the impression the rooms have a sea view but ours was ar the side of the studios and had no outlook other than the wall of the next door hotel. The rooms were extremely basic, but the beds were comfortable. Found the waiter Mikey extremely pleasant and helpful. Plenty of nice tavernas in Limenaria. I would recommend Georges opposite the taxi rank and Molos as the best we visited. also the Asterias was very good. Had a nice english breakfast each day at the Anna Beach for 3 euros which we thought was good value. Also found the journey to Limenaria much smoother than we anticipated. We holidayed in Paxos a couple of years ago and fouond Thassos very much cheaper than there.

Overall Hotel Rating:
The Anna beach appartments are in an ideal situation, just across a small road from the beach and in the centre of shops, bars and restaurants.
The rooms are quite small, and the kitchen facilities are basic, therefore we ate out most days, we also found the supermarkets quite pricey. We also found eating out cost more than we expected, but it greatly varied from place to place.
There is a small pool at the back of the appartments which was never crowded. Sunbeds are provided on the beach free of charge and Demitrus the owner will make sure that everyone has a sunbed!
All in all we would highly reccomend the resort for couples and families. For younger groups it would be too quiet.
