"Filaktos Apartments review"

Overall Hotel Rating:

Very Good

The appartment was spacious with two balconies and a well equipped kitchen. It was slightly basic as one would expect in Greece but very clean and well maintained. We even had an ice box in the fridge and a sandwich toaster. The appartment was also equipped with a safety deposit box and air conditioning (there was an extra charge for this but we didn't need it as it was cool at night).

It was a bit of a walk to the resort centre and Anna Beach hotel owned by the same people. Some of the street lights didn't work so although we didn't have a flashlight I would recommend one.

All the locals were very friendly and welcoming including Matthew, Demitri and Tanya at the Anna Beach. They did some lovely cocktails which were half price in the evenings to their guests. We also found that two of the tavernas (Rodolfos and Maragios) on the seafront provided excellent food and we repeatedly went back to both in the evenings.

The pool at the Anna beach tended to be in the shade a lot of the time. The pool at the Agali a couple of doors down was smaller but lovely and we had a very warm welcome there. The owners of both hotels said we could use their sunbeds on the beach for free although the beach was rather rocky and sandals were needed in the sea because of the sea urchins. There is a nice sandy beach just outside the town near to the appartments.

Thassos has not been spoilt and over commercialised by tourism. It is somewhere one goes to see Greece rather than somewhere to go clubbing. It is a great place for a couple who want a peaceful relaxing holiday.

We have just returned from a week in Limenaria, staying at the Filaktos apts.
It was a last minute allocation on arrival holiday.
When we arrived at the apartment we were greeted with a vey warm welcome by Dimetri (the owner).
We were suprised by how claen and spotless the apartment was and the grounds.
The apartment does not have a pool or a bar, but Demitri owned a hotel (Anna Beach) on the beachfront that was about a 10 min walk, which is where all the restaurants and bars are.
We went self catering and the kitchenet had all the amenities you need (2 ring cooker, fridge, kettle!, toaster!, sandwich maker!!, utensils).

The walk to the beach, restaurants and bars is very nice as the path is right next to the beach (very romantic by moonlight).
The menu at the Anna Beach is packed with everything you could imagine from snacks to cocktails.
The cost of the food and drink in Limenaria is very resonable and varied as it is near a small harbour.
We hired a Jeep for 3 days (SPEEDY rent a car) and travelled around the island to expolre the different beaches and towns as there is so much to see.

All in all a very relaxing holiday location.
Don't be put off by the ferry ride to Thassos island (40 mins) there is so many nice views to take in of the boats and beaches on the way not to mention the sealife.

Filactos apartments just outside Limenaria town. Totally immaculate, well maintained and very attractive apartments. Run by Dimitris and Tanya who also own The Anna Beach in Limenaria. Wonderful family, very professional and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Limenaria, took a boat trip (not organised through Thomsons) and our captain on the Star1 made it a wonderful day which included visiting remote beaches, cooking a barbeque and even doing a spot of fishing. Would definately suggest taking a trip with one of the local guides, we used Vassilis and his boat the Star1.

would recommend taking a taxi to Potos beach as it has lovely sand rather than a rocky beach and also Tripiti beach which is surrounded by pine trees on the mountains.

Fantastic resort and definately worth a holiday there.
