We were expecting the resort not to be built up at all from the write up in Thompson's brochure so we were a little disappointed to start with. However, the beach was great and the sea fab to swim in and you got some great waves. The sub beds (2) and umberella were 5 euros a day and a doughnut man came along the beach twice a day selling delicious doughnuts at 1.5 euro. This resort is great for families and lots of greek people holiday here. There is a little fun fair and a train that takes tourits from Golden Beach to the other end of Skala Potima. We hired a car for the day and seen the whole island. Skala Marion was unspoilt and fab. Pagnia and Potima are worth a visit although I would go late afternoon to evening to avoid the hoards of tourits. In Pagnia we eat in the restaurant oppositie the fountains, had the best greek salad ever and tried all the spit roasted meats they had on offer. This was not advertised but when we asked they were happy to oblige. We had greek salad, meat platter (large) bread and two drinks and it came to 26 euro. The best place to eat in Skala Potima for us was Krambousa. This is run by brothers who are honest about their memu if you are unsure of what to have. You get a large free oozo at the start of your meal and there is a nice greek atmosphere. We never had a bad meal in there, the local fish and the mezes were brill.

If you go the only village market ran on Monday's be careful where you park. Us and many more tourits received a 80 euro fine which went down to 40 euros if you paid within 7 days. It felt like "lets get some quick cash off the tourits". There are no signs anywhere to say you can't park there. The rule, which we were not aware of and not told about from our car rental place, was you cannot park within 3 meters either side of the double white lines in the middle of the road. The places where the tickets were issued to tourits you could not see the white lines at all in some places.

OverallGood Hotel

If you stuck to local drinks they were a lot cheaper, however if you wanted a gin and tonic it was 4 euros and sometimes I could hardly taste the gin. Not in Cafe THOMAI Bistro which is at the far end of Skala Potima. Ran by a greek family who live on the...
