We have just returned from a great holiday. We are really pleased with the accommodation and the resort.

There are lots of tavernas to choose from, we didn't have a single poor meal. Average cost of a two course meal for two, with drinks, 20-25 euros. The weather is mind blowingly hot. I underestimated the power of the sun, and did not use a high enough SPF cream for one day. I didn't make that mistake again!

We were in room 16. Great sea views from the balcony, but as the room has its room and two walls exposed to the sun all day, it is like an oven all night. So you can either bake, or open the door and get bitten all night. Your choice! The cheapest car hire is Potos. They will match any quote. You can see the whole island in one day, but you are on holiday. Take it easy, do it in two. The bus service is also first class. The owner of the hotel is Haris. He also owns Aloe supermarket. Really nice bloke, and he is also the equivalent of their local MP. It is a short sharp climb from the beach to the hotel, but nothing too onerous.

All in all, a very nice holiday. It didn't break the bank, and I would do it again

We chose to visit the resort of Skala Potamia after visiting this site and reading the vast amount of fantastic reviews. We were definitely not dissapointed.

The weather was between 25-32 degrees and it only rained twice during the night, never during the day. We hired a jeep from Potos Hire in Skala Potamia for 3 days for 90 Euros. It was very easy to drive on the island as there is 1 main ring road that takes you all the way round Thassos. There are lots of secluded white sandy beaches that are well worth a visit in particular Alyki for it's beauty.

The beach in Skala Potamia leading into Golden Beach is great for a spot of sunbathing. We visited most of the tavernas lining the beach and were very impressed with them all, however our favourite was Nautilus for the fun, food and great hospitality the owners offered us.

What more can I say apart from this was the best holiday we have had and will definitely be visiting again in the not too distant future. Thank you Thassos.
