Kalamaki is a pretty average small Greek village. Plenty of supermarkets, places to eat. A few really good restaurants. The beach is home to nesting Loggerhead Turtles and the conservation group has a stand on the main Kalamaki strand. Although Kalamaki is only 5 mins from the airport you don't notice any plane noise at all.
