Overall Hotel Rating:
We stayed for 2weeks all inclusive and loved it.
The reception staff were very friendly on arrival and always keen to help. We did pay extra for a superior room which was not much different from a standard room except they filled up the fridge which was a bonus. The food in the resturant was ok, they did theme nights but it did get abit repeatative we ate out a couple of times and enjoyed eating at a nice taverna in Tsilivi called The olive tree. It cost 7euros for a taxi to Tsilivi, you could walk it took around 20minutes but it was so hot we got taxis. The animation team who provided evening and day entertainment were great they tried really hard and were a little crazy at times but it was enjoyable. The hotel was very clean and all staff were very nice.
There was a jetty right next to the hotel but it was abit pebbly and not really our scene so spent our days by the pool or Tsilivi beach which was very nice and came across a nice beach bar called Freddies! We went on two trips organised by thomas cook, one was the water park which was very good and a boat trip to see the turtles even though we did not see any. My advise would be go in to Tsivili and see what trips they are offering as they are much cheaper and we feel we got ripped off by our rep for these trips, as the water park trip price was nearly doubled with the rep its cheaper to get a taxi there. We went to Zante town for the day which cost 20euros in a taxi there and back, it was nice the shops were a bit hit and miss and you really had to look to fine them but the harbour was beautiful, it was a nice day out anyway.
Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and would defiantly recommend it.

Overall Hotel Rating:
having stayed at other Iberostar hotels we felt the standard of Plagos Beach was well below the grading given, we had gone for the seafront superior room and having seen other guest's room it would have been better to save the money and get a standard room ( unless you need to see the sea).
The standard of food and variety was very good but the beach was disappointing more stones then sand.
To go into Tsilivi was 1/2 hour walk as the buses were not to time and 7 Euros cab back to the hotel. The town was mainley restaurants and pubs.At this time of the year do not go on the the boat trip to see the turtles as they have already gone.

my husband and i stayed at the iberostar plagos beach hotel in september 2006 for 2 weeks the hotel is very clean with lovely friendly staff, the rooms were cleaned daily the food was lovely but we found it was very repetative ,there was a good selection of meals on offer lunch was served in poolside bar and the other meals in main restaurant for evening meal you had to dress smartly.
the entertainment for us let the hotel down and found most guests went into tsilivi which is only 7 euros by taxi for evening entertainment which is worth it .we felt sorry for familys here as thee is only a small pool for the kids and a tiny play park for them and nothing else no entertainment for children at all i feel the hotel is more for couples really ,there is no beach with the hotel only a jetty into the sea which was nice to swim in however the beaches at tsilivi are lovely.
our overall opinion on the holiday was hotel beautiful staff friendly and fun ,food average ,location of hotel very remote however zante is a lovely island in greece and we would definately return in the future but sorry to say not to this hotel due to the location and not having a beach but would recomend tsilivi or kalamaki.and have to had we loved greece and the people .

Overall Hotel Rating:
We've just returned from our Honeymoon at Tsilivi where we stayed at the Iberostar Plagos Beach Hotel. We had read some bad reviews on the internet befor we left and were wondering if we had made the right choice but we need not have worried.
We were met at the airport by a lovely Rep called Mel who took us all to the transfer coach and talked us through every step of the journey to Tsilivi. As we were at the Plagos, we were the last two people on the coach and had the chance to ask Mel about the hotel. She assured us that it was a wonderful place and helped put our minds at ease.
THE HOTEL:
First impressions were good, very clean and modern. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and got us sorted quickly. The hotel itself was very open and felt ";fresh";. A short walk from our room led to a private jetty wher you could sunbathe or swim in the crystal clear water. Views of Kefalonia were breath taking.
ROOMS:
Our room was just what we had requested, quiet with a sea view! Air con, TV and a mini fridge were free and there was also a small safe to keep your valuables in ( at a small charge ). Tea and coffee making facilities were there and you got a large fresh bottle of water every day. Rooms were cleaned daily and the bed linen and towels were changed every other day.
FOOD:
The food was fantastic! Buffet style in the main room for your breakfast and evening meal and then in the sunshine bar for your lunch in the afternoon. A wide selection of dishes to suit everyone. Special themed nights were great. From Greek to Italian and a chance to see the chef actually preparing some of the dishes was a real treat. The table staff were polite and friendly again and cleared the plates without rush or fuss, leaving you to enjoy your meal.
You had the chance to taste a different cocktail every night as you entered the restaurant which only added to the holiday feel.
STAFF and ENTERTAINMENT:
All the staff were wonderful from the reception, the bar staff, maids and the ";Animation Team";! The bar staff worked really hard and coped well with a full hotel. Nikos, Lefturis and Alex did a fantastic job and made evryone feel welcome. We even got the chance to go out after work to their local taverna for a drink and a spot of ";socialising"; =)
Martin, Sam and the rest of the Animation team worked hard to entertain everyone and after a two week stay I can say that we never got the same evening event twice. Lots of laughter and Ouzo.
RESORT:
We have to admit that the road to Tsilivi can be very busy at times and for some it may be a better idea to catch the bus from outside the hotel into town ( 1 Euro ) or get the hotel to order you a taxi ( 7 euro ). My wife and I walked it a few times and it only took us 20 - 30 mins but it was very relaxing.
The town itself is what you would expext from a growing tourist town, lots of gift shops, tavernas and bars but without the hawkers standing outside trying to pull you into their establishments. Once again, really friendly people who always seemed to have time for you.
All in all a wonderful place filled with marvelous people. A place I would most certainly revisit if I ever get the chance and well worth every penny.

This was sold to us by First choice as a quiet family hotel, well this was definately quiet..except for the continuous annoyance of the so-called entertainment team.
we like to eat out at night so elected half board, they do not do BandB. not much in the area if want something decent a taxi to Zakynthos Town will cost you 13 euros each way. the food in the hotel was OK but we were treated like cattle as the facilities are not sufficient to cope with the number of guests, you get rushed out. Dont take any notice of the long trouser rule or any other rule they are not enforced. It is like eating in a works canteen not a restaurant.
I would describe this place as Hi de Hi, if you like that sort of thing fine but dont expect a quiet sofisticated break which is what we wanted and was mis sold by first Choice as they messed up our original booking and gave us this at the last minute.

Overall Hotel Rating:
The brochure price on this holiday was unbelievable £528 half board as it was double this price the week before we went.(thought there must be a catch, couldn't have been more wrong). The hotel is of a very high standard, staff very friendly and helpful, loads of choice at breakfast and evening meal, tea and coffee making facilities, kettle and daily free bottle of water in room, air conditioning(free when we went), hairdryer, TV limited channels, small fridge (large enough for 4 bottles of Amstel), Beach towels are available at the hotel for a deposit of 10 Euros and can be changed every 2 days.
There are guest from a large number of countries, only about 20% were English, so was sometimes pleased to hear an English voice.
The pool area is rather busy and noisy with organised entertainment where most all inclusive guests tended to stay, but there is a small quiet beach about 100 metres away downhill with a couple of beach bars.
The hotel is about a couple of miles from Tsilivi mostly downhill on a busy road with no pavement or lights at night, don't recommend you walk it, a taxi cost 7 Euros.
The entertainment at night is quite good if a bit slapstick ,after the bingo from 9.30 - 10.00 the main show starts at 10.00 till 11.00 the animation staff were very hardworking especially Martin with his fire eating and bed of nails act which was very good, other than this there is nothing else to do except sit and make your own entertainment, as we were just half board were we not tied to the hotel for drinks etc. so we spent most nights either in Tsilivi or in the few tavernas nearby (about six I think). You are made to feel a bit second class if you are not all inclusive with signs on the drinks machines etc (All Inclusive Guests Only)and paying for drinks at the bar. We did ask about upgrading to all inclusive at reception, as it was £12 per person per day at the time of booking we were surprised to be told it was 22 Euros (£18)each per day, which we declined.
At Zante airport the departure building is very small and you have to queue up outside, they are in the process of building a new one, it looked almost finished, might be ready next year( it is Greece)
I would go back but would probably go all inclusive next time.

Overall Hotel Rating:
We went to Zante in August for a week and we hadn't been there before so we didnt know what to expect. We arrived at Zante Airport and was greeted by friendly Olympic staff who ushered us to a free taxi transfer.
The Hotel is only about 30 mins from the airport. It was everything we expected and more. Clean, staff extremely helpful and plenty to do. We weren't able to access our rooms because we had an early flight but the staff gave us wristbands (We were all inclusive) and from there on we could use the facilities and help ourselves to food and drink etc., there was also shower rooms so we could change.
The rooms are in separate blocks and we had booked a superior sea front room overlooking the sea. The size was ample for 3 adults with twin beds and a single. There was sky tv tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge which was topped up daily by the porter with free beer, soft drinks and water. We also had a complimentary basket of fruit, bottle of wine and free slippers! We didnt even have to carry out cases as the porter was sent over with them. The sheets and towels were changed daily and there was a telephone in the room if needed. In the mornings we could leave a sign on the door indicating whether the maid could come in and clean or not. If not, they would come back later on.The balconies were large and had drying facilities.
The food was buffet style with breakfast in the restaurant. A vast selection of cereals, fruit, juices, tea and coffee and of course cooked english etc., was on offer. lunch was served at the poolside bar, again buffet style. All drinks were included and icecream and fruit and snacks were available free of charge throughout the day. Evening meal was served in the restaurant with regular carvaries. The food was execellent and very well presented.
There wasnt too much entertainment on site but once you had gorged on all the free food and drunk yourself stupid, there wasn't much energy to want to do anything! Table tennis, kiddies shows and pool were on offer. There was a jetty out into the sea and a bit further round a sand and shingle beach which wasn't crowded. There was also a beach party once a week and tavernas on the beach if you fancied a change from hotel food.
The taxi ride into Tsilivi was 7 euros and the hotel would order one if required. We walked once which took about 20 mins. On the whole we found the experience really relaxing. We made some good friends despite there being a vast mix of nationalities staying at the hotel. The weather was glorious and we would certainly stay there again preferably for two weeks next time. The hotel is not situated in the heart of a town but is far enough away to be quiet and close enough to get out and about. We went on one excursion which was a tan top up boat trip round the southern islands just for the afternoon. We did actually see a turtle which was more than some who had gone on the turtle spotting trip! We swam in the blue caves and the trip was just long enough to enjoy. We would definitely recommend the Hotel to anyone and Olypmic.
Definitely worth its ****+ rating.

A wonderful hotel in a lovely, quiet setting. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever - everywhere very clean, rooms great, and staff very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. (Entertainment was good too!). Amboula beach is superb (never very crowded), plenty of sunloungers and parasols at a very reasonable price, and a great couple of tavernas. Food in the hotel couldn't be faulted, but a meal out in the tavernas is a must - lovely food and very, very reasonable. Found trip to 'Smugglers Cove' very overrated, but would recommend a day trip to Kefalonia, taking in famous caves and lakes.
Overall a superb, relaxing holiday - and we will be going back!!

We took our baby son on his first holiday abroad and we were a little worried about the usual things like food for him etc... We arrived at Zante Airport which was a complete nightmare ( it is tiny!! ), although they are currently building a new one. Once we finally got our cases we were straight onto a coach and found out we were the only people going to this Hotel which was a little worrying as the coach was full.!!
We needn't have bothered. First impressions arriving at the hotel down a tree lined drive were excellent. The reception staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful with a porter to take care of the cases.
The first thing we noticed about the hotel was that it was very clean and tidy, the rooms were cleaned everyday. We had booked All-Inclusive and found the food although excellent got a little repetitive by the second week. There was, however, plenty of choice with at least 4 types of meat and fish with vegetables, chips and pasta's. The salad was always excellent.
Lunch was in the pool bar and was often a little cold if you waited too long. The views out over the sea made it worthwhile.Any minor complaints about the food were far outweighed by everything else the hotel offered.
A fantasic pool with plenty of sunbeds (again cleaned everyday !!)
The staff were very friendly and were always willing to help or give advice. The hotel had its own entertainers ( Ramsay and Sofia ) who were great fun and tryed to get people involved throughout the day and night. Ramsay is the only person I have met who can make Bingo a laugh. Often he would take time out and take our son for a walk round in his pushchair so we could relax and have a drink for half an hour.
The resort is very quiet and if you want disco's etc.. you would have to get a taxi to Tsivili about 5 mins away. There are a few restaurants and supermarkets which are worth a visit.
The excursions are a bit pricey through First Choice and I recommend you hire a car and go to places like Zante Town for shopping and the famous shipwreck independently.I would definately recommend this hotel and will return here again in the future. We had a great time and this was all thanks to hard working, friendly staff from cleaners, receptionists, barmen and entertainers.

I must have gone to a different hotel to the other reviewers as every one said that the food was good , it was on some nights but most of the time it was below par for a 4 star ,maybe it was because it near the end of the season . Most peopel were eating out.A lot of peopel on the all inclusive said the lunch menu was very poor and they were eating out at lunch tme so that they got one good meal a day.
The first impresion of the hotel was good the reception was impressive as was the dinning room .The rooms were niceley done out but the day to day cleaning let them down , we had to get the manager one day to look and it was done right that day but after that it went back to the usual slap dash way .
As this is a Iberostar hotel I expected more than we got as we have stayed in many Iberostar befor , this was the first year of being a Iberostar and maybe it will improve to there standards lets hope so as the hotel is quite good in general
We did hear from one member of staff that they had a very good chef but when he was told to make cut backs he refused and he left

Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel was all that we had expected. It was very clean and well maintained. If requested your room would be cleaned on a daily basis and the cleaning staff were pleasant and accommodating. It was the fist occasion that we had decided not to have a family room, so book two separate rooms hoping that we would succeed in having them close together. Our request was met and we had adjacent rooms with a sea view. The view from the room was fantastic and worth the additional cost.
The restaurant was pleasant and at no time did we find any problem with obtaining a place at the time we chose to dine, which changed from evening to evening. The food, throughout the two week stay, was more than adequate, plenty of choice and if needed a different choice for children. The staff were simply brilliant.
The swimming pool was splendid. The only potential draw back for small children was that the main pool's shallow end was at 1.5 meters, however, there was a children's pool for toddlers. There were plenty of sun beds but like most holiday destinations there was a tendancy for guests to put towels down early to claim loungers. We were of the view that you can't beat them so we joined them!!!!!
At the time of our stay there were four entertainers from Planetvillager who were absolutely brilliant!!!!! They provided entertainment of various sorts throughout the day and then during the evening. They worked very hard with limited resource, and in a certain way, helped to make our stay a really engaging and eventful one. (We appraciate that this particular team will not necessarily be there in the future, perhaps we were just lucky?).
The hotel premises are located on different levels and this might present some difficulties for older guests or those with difficuly in walking, although there were alternative routes around the complex with ramps provided.
The local beach was shingly, but pleasant and it was only a short distance to more sandy beaches.
Whilst the hotel provided all that we needed, there were a variety of taverners and restaurants close by the hotel for those who might choose to holiday on a bed and breakfast basis.
The main resort of Tsilivi was a twenty minute walk away, and in our view, had seccumbed to the 'Blackpool-Kiss-me-Quick' mentality which was a little dissapointing. However, at this time it was not quite as bad as other destinations in the South of the island. Undoubtedly, if you are looking for a holiday to sample the local culture resorts further north are advisable. Having said that the island is lush and has many worthwhile sights to visit. We hired a car for three days which we found was ample time to visit all parts of the island.
All in all we had a great holiday sufficiently far away from the centre to provide us with the quiet we were looking for but sufficiently close to a centre had we chosen to frequent it.

A very quiet, clean and well kept hotel. A good choice for couples and families but absolutely no nightlife or entertainment around the resort in the evenings apart from the 'Animation Team' based at the hotel who worked hard to keep the children (and some adults!) entertained throughout the day and night.
Food was excellent and would suit a wide range of tastes. We were on a half board basis which suited us, but if you are planning on not leaving the hotel, the all inclusive package would suit you better. The hotel uses a 'tab' system which was a good idea as it meant you didn't have to worry about carrying cash with you or going back to the room to get some change if you fancied a drink by the pool.
We hired a jeep for one (very long, stressful!) day and went to a couple of the recommended beaches, but it was very easy to get lost around the island so make sure you take a map. We also booked the Smugglers Cove trip through our rep which was rather disappointing as it was very windy and the sea was rough so this meant we couldn't dock near the shipwreck which was the whole point of the trip! Not a good choice if you are travel sick as we couldn't leave the boat apart from a quick dip in the middle of the ocean and it was a great relief when we finally got our feet back on the ground after 6 hours!

first impressions of this hotel
the airport is not very good very small
it was an excellent holiday very relaxing the only bad point about this hotel is the location it is a bit out of the way but there is no problem to catch a taxi or bus in to tsilliv where there is plenty to do we went into there most nights as there is lots of pubs and shops.
we hired a car from the town and went for a drive around the island we went to smugglers cove that was fantastic spectular views did not do the trip on the boat just drove to the viewing platfrom above it was well wortha trip there.
also visted lagana which i think is a bit like magaluf in majorca the new clubbing place was not that impressed with that place. Keri another place on the island is well worth a vistit too very beauitful.
the enterainment team in the hotel you could not fault always making sure you are enjoying your holiday with lots of choice of activies to do
The food in the hotel was excellent greek food is yummy! We stayed all inclusive well worth it as the drinks in the hotel are expensive and because it was so hot we took full advantage of the all inclusvive option!
we booked the accomadation and flights seperate which we found a lot cheaper than a package deal
would definitely go back to zante and hotel!!!
