Exellent for a relaxing holiday with the best beaches but little nightlife if that is what you are looking for. Wonderful walks and no loud nighlife. You may like to hire a car to explore as there are only 3 buses a day.

A wonderful relaxing location. The hotel aims to set a relaxing atmoshpere from the start with subdued lighting and relaxing music in the reception area. The staff were very attentive and escorted us to our room.( no walking around looking for room numbers)checking that everything was to our satisfaction. There is only a small pool side bar with a terrific view of the sea. Not much in the area but it is worth the short walk to the village to visit the local tavernas. The 4 x 4 trip is brilliant and very informative as was the greek evening in the hills. In our opinion the best area in Zante beautiful beaches and no tacky shops and bars. Lovely walks and a real stress buster. Be warned the only negative was our visit to the Beach Taverna next to the hotel at Plaka Beach where we were charged for bread(which is always supplied) and a service charge (which we have never encountered anywhere else) Could be that the season was coming to an end and tourists were few! We also heard them trying to charge for parking which was supposed to be free! Overall a wonderful hotel, mainly middle aged clients when we were there and few children. No teenagers so they may get bored.

The Bay Hotel is the ideal location for a relaxing holiday if your after sun sea and sand -plenty of it this is the place for you! The accomadation is very clean and its worth it if you pay the extra for a sea view room - fantastic view! Not ideal for kids as theres not much to do as it is a quiet place and no entertainment only a quiz at night! Food quite good fresh salads and local cuisine ,breakfast plenty of choice and will fill you up for the day. We had agreat time relaxing and enjoying the sun, we did do some walking to the turtle beach about 3 km away with the clearest sea we,ve ever seen! The hotel is a ideal place for a quick escape for pure relaxation soon as we got off the coach we felt relaxed straight away within the friendly atmosphere. We are going again next year and will try out the bay suites .

Stayed for one week all inclusive at the beginning of August. We were initally apprehensive due to harsh criticism levelled at this hotel by other reviewers.
On arrival, reception staff provided a first-class service, courteous, fast and efficient, and explained that, because the restaraunt was closed (it was 10:30pm), cold meat platters were being sent to our room. These proved to be delicious and were most welcome after the journey.
We found the room to be clean, comfortable and larger than the average 4* room. Although my wife found her mattress to be somewhat firm for her liking, everything worked the way it was supposed to and we all slept very well, the hotel being relatively small (about 180 rooms), and quiet through the night. It's a very low level building and is very picturesque.
As for location, the Louis Palazzo is one of three sister hotels located absolutely on the edge of nowhere. There is just scrubland for miles around. If you are looking for a busy bar crawl and clubbing holiday then look elsewhere. We just wanted a week lounging in the sun, however, so the remote location wasn't a problem for us. The beach is located about five minutes walk away, down 156 steps. There is a lift that travels part of the way, though, and a sort of rickety cable car for the brave.
The beach is quite small, sandy with crystal clear water and is very safe for children. Sunbeds and watersports are availabe at extra cost (4 euros for a sunbed).
Food was generally very good, with fresh cooked specialities like English style pancakes prepared in front of you at breakfast. Lunch is taken down at the beach and consisted of barbecued chicken; pork chops; chips; salad; pasta; and the like. All washed down with self-service draught Lowenbrau, wine and soft drinks. The evening meal was typical of the type of food you get in such hotels 'abroad', albeit with the added bonus (for us, anyway) of a higher than average number of Greek dishes. As about half the guests were Greek it wasn't surprising to find feta salad; stifado; stuffed vine leaves; hand wrapped kebabs; etc, on offer.
Evening entertainment was provided at one of the sister hotels, and it could be a bit risque. Having said that, it was typical of what we've seen in other hotels in the med, and was often hilarious. Karaoke night was a particular treat, with the cast of international guests fielding some of the worst singers, singing the worst songs in the least lyrical languages imagineable. All over by 10:30pm, though, so junior could get to sleep.
Overall, we had a wonderful week at the Louis Palazzo di Zante, and we wished we'd stayed longer. If you like small and friendly hotels with few British guests, decent food and low key evenings, then you'll like this place. We would definitely visit again.

We have just returned from a week in what we like to call COLDITZ, if you like being stuck in the middle of nowhere you may like this hotel.
Right where do we start, we booked all inclusive for a week as we were in Zante to look at buying a holiday home, we booked 4 star as we like to travel in style and we are bored of BandB and fancied a change. Firstly the room (603)was poor ";good view thou";, the decor is very 80's and a little american xmas decoration theme is going on its peeling off everywhere and has been stuck back down with glue, the bathroom was dirty and the work quality leads a lot to be desired, the air-conditioning had white tape plastered all around the pipe and stunk of dirty water, if you have a bird fobia stay away from the balcony as you will get pooed on by the 1000,s of swallows that have made this hotel there home, our balcony was regularly used as a toilet and it took 4 days before the mess was cleaned away, also the maid seems to think we like to keep our plastic bar glasses as she seemed not to want to move them again it took 3 days to clean them away.
The dining experience is a little 2 sided, in the restaurant its not bad although we advise you to check if your chicken is cooked and to try to avoid early eve as this is when the kids like to run around or crawl under your table while you look at the lovely but rather noisy waterfall (ASK THE MANAGMENT WHAT WE MEAN). the day time meals are RANK if you have no children your scuppered, Chicken nuggets, fish finger, chips and stale bread with manky ham and wierd cheese, we asked once we complained about the raw nuggets whether we could get a toastie? the bar maid looked puzzled, our rep 25 mins later took away the raw nuggets as the hotel didnt seem to want to know, we got a management appology and a thank you a free bottle of wine and an a appology in front of the whole restaurant from the head chef who assured us it wouldnt happen (how embarrasing) again like I said check the chicken before you end up ill.
Right down to the evenings, you have 3 bars one is what we would call BUTLINS style this is where 100's of kids hang around while the parents get drunk till the early hours watching what I can only describe as very non PC entertainment run by the so called Animation team, watch the kids statue game and were sure you will agree!! very strange, we drank at the rather small bar situated within the royal complex again along with the GERMANS and lots of kids, the palazzo bar dont bother with unless you eat lots of carrots its very dark and has an unapealing atmosphere.
The beach is around 400 steps away down a steep cliff or a long winding walk or if your really brave attempt the green steps!!, you will get charged for a sunbed more than any other beach nr by and they are better, the sunbeds are very close together so be prepared to share the shade, you may meet someone up close and personal or like we did find a used condom slap bang in the middle of the beach where kids were playing and being rather noisy as kids are.
all in all ";NOT"; really a good hotel or holiday no way this hotel should be classed as a 4star or 4sun, in a nutshell its too far out and feels like a prison within its huge walls you are forced to go outside and even thou NIKOS bar is only a 10 min walk up a winding hill thats about it!! there are a few tavernas locally but why should you be forced to pay when its supposed to be ALL INCLUSIVE.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel. On the whole it was a relaxing and enjoyable break. You have the use of the imperial and royal facilities apart from restaraunts. We upgraded to all inclusive when we got there which was alot cheaper than first choice wanted. (22 euros adult, 11 euros child per day.) When we discovered there is nowhere for miles around, and also how expensive hotel drinks and snacks are it seemed sensible.
The pool at the hotel is small, and there is no shady spots come mid afternoon, so we preffered to use the imperial pool which is much bigger, with a good size kids pool and water slides. All the pools and surrounding areas are clean.
Beach is nice, with clear shallow water for a long way out, which is great for kids. If you take a snorkel you will see lots of fish. also lots of crabs in the rockpools. A bit miffed that you have to pay for sun loungers on the beach 4 euros each, so if using them daily would work out quite alot. Also in some parts of the beach there was alot of litter, cigerette stubs, so choose your spot carefully before shelling out on the sun loungers! Watersports on offer, very pricey. (jet ski around 50 euros for 10 mins)
Restaraunt was quite plesant, indoor and outdoor seating with a huge waterful feature. Shame I cant be enthusiastic about the food, it varied from good to awful! Probably had two good meals in a week. The worse thing was breakfast, and if eating lunch at the beach expect leftovers daily, even the chips were recycled! There was a choice but it was very samey.
The rooms were fine, and spacious with very nice balcony over looking water surrounding the pool. cleaned daily with complete linen change. Yes the decor is dated but we were never in the room for long so we could live with it, and actually its not that bad. We did get loads of mossies and bugs in the room, beetles, and my sister who was also staying at the hotel had a scorpian in her room one night!
Kids club was not very impressive, but mini disco at 8.30 every evening.
Entertainment was o.k some nights, but only lasts for an hour so expect early nights because after 10.30 there is absolutely nothing going on.
All inclusive was great for kids because they can get ice creams drinks and snacks. snacks are basically cheese and ham sandwiches, thats it! But I will say that cocktails are included on all inclusive.
The shop at the hotel is so over priced, for soviniers head for zante town, where you will pay at least 5 times less.
Didn't try any excursions but if stayng longer than a week, you will probably need to, otherwise will go crazy with boredom.
We did have a lovely holiday, met some lovely people and came back refreshed.Had a hectic journey home as zante airport on strike and had to get ferry to mainland and take a flight from tiny airport with one scanner, but I guess thats just one of those things. Fab weather, glorious all week. I probably wouldn't return, but if I did would hire a car.

The kids club was run by German speakers but their English was good, they also did the entertainment at night which was varied. Good on a couple of nights and not on others.
The food was varied and catered for everyone. Breakfasts were full english breakfasts as well as cereal and fruit. You could eat in a few different restaurants for various meals of the day. Waiters very efficient and fresh food brought out regularly. I would say the food catered for everyone.
Staff we on the whole helpful, some didn't speak much, but think that was down to language barriers and shyness rather than arrogance. Transfers are not too long and the island is beautiful if you get chance to see it.
Definintely go on the boat trip (forget the blokes name but funny fella) but do the full day rather than half it is worth it and if you want to leave hotel for a bit have a walk up the road to a little bar (forget the name) nice local beers and a funny barman.
I would recommend this resort to anyone wanting all inclusive and to chill out for a week. Good for kids and parents alike. Not a great deal of stuff to do in the immediate vicinty but a very good self contained resort.
Enjoy

We stayed in apartment six of the Lemon Gardens for two weeks from the beginning of September 2006. This apartment was on the 3rd floor of the block and had air conditioning. There are 6 apartments in two blocks and two villas, all situated around the pool. The gardens are very well-kept by Antonis, the owner and, as the name implies, are full of lemon trees. The apartment was spacious, with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen / living area, extremely clean and had the most wonderful views from both of its terraces, a small one off the main bedroom facing east and a large terrace off the kitchen facing south. There was a large pool in the garden and most days we were the only ones using it. The area is peaceful and so relaxing, the only sounds being from the cows, goats and dogs. Antonis, was very friendly and helpful and came to our rescue when we had locked ourselves out one evening. He speaks very good english. At the moment his Web site is only in German but if you send an email enquiry your reply will be in perfect english. (lemon-garden-vassilikoscom)
The nearest Cafe / Bar is Barba Nikos approximately 100metres away run by George and his wife, Toula. The snacks that they prepare are huge and after eating some of them we had trouble moving! George like most Greeks is a big football fan and on one occasion when we visited his bar he was showing 3 different football games simultaneously - an English game, a German game and a Greek game.
The nearest shop is about 150 metres away and run by Joanna. It's very well stocked and next to it her parents run a small café.
There are plenty of great places to eat with in a 20 minute walk (or 5 minute drive). Our favourite is Babbis which is next to the village school (10 min walk) or Dionysis in Porta Roma (20 min walk).
The nearest beach is Mavratsis beach approx 600 metres away past the Louis Hotel complex. It's quite a nice beach but very busy with people from the hotels. You can also walk to Gerakas beach but it will take you about 25 - 30 mins. If you have a car Plakas beach, Banana Beach, Porto Zoro and Dafni are all between 5 - 15 minutes away. Our favourite is Dafni. You now have to park at the top of the hill and the Turtle conservation people run a mini bus to the beach.
For Car Hire I can recommend Junior Car Rental at Tsilivi. I have used them for the last 5 years and they will deliver to the airport or your apartment.
We have stayed in Vassilikos every year for the last five years and this is the best accommodation we have found. We'll be back!

We arrived in the dark and were the last hotel drop. We seemed to be driving to the middle of nowhere!! Little did we know in the morning thats exactly where we were, nowhere!!!There was a Little shop at the hotel that sold the basics, Mainly water and another shop at the bottom of the road which took about a 10 min walk to get to ,and when we did venture there it was closed. The actual hotel was very nice, clean and the staff were all very friendly. The rooms were the best part of the hotel, they were exactly how they showed it in the brochure and we were very pleased at that as we stayed in our room alot as there was nowhere else to go! no Evening Entertainment!
A couple of nites we got a taxi (if you want to risk your life) to Aragassi Which took about 20mins and cost 14 euro lots of shops and bars we spent most of the time in the Beer Acadamy and the Snack Acadamy Watching the football Staff there are very very friendly and nice. And is the only place where you can get hot food as the hotel food was always very very cold and not much choice, especially for children as there was no choice for them or vegatarians ,very poor.
Watch out for the mosquitos they will eat you alive we had bites all over us we counted 50 and that was just on me!!! make sure you take plenty of mosquito repellent. The private beach was lovely and the waters were crystal clear you can walk or swim out quite far without it getting any deeper it, didnt go past the waist, lots and lots and lots of fish swimming around your feet.
All in all very nice hotel but too far out and dead for us!!

If you want a quiet holiday doing nothing this is the place. As it is dead!!!In the middle of nowhere,2 tavernas 2 small supermarkets 20 mins by taxi (risk your life if you dare!) to Argassi which is pretty naff.As there is nowhere else to drink, the drinks are expensive at the hotel. And forget about evening entertainment, there is'nt any.
Watch out for the midges.first place I have been to and been eaten alive!!
Thank God we only booked for a week.
The airport is diabolical.
All in All,would'nt return to Zante. Will stick with Crete and Rhodes in future.

Arrived at the tiny airport and had to queue outside in the boiling heat-which we were not yet used to,for a good hour before they let us in. Nearly fainted.
Eventually got out of the airport and straight away found a friendly taxi driver who was more than happy to take us to our hotel, which was about half an hours drive. He tried very hard to make good english conversation with us which was nice, although his taste in music wasnt to our liking!
From looking at the pictures on the website when booking holiday it looked amazing. Hearing it was 4* also was exciting as we had never had the money to afford such 'luxury'.
First impressions were good i guess.
Got to our room, which was right next to the kitchen at the end of a dark grotty corridor, opened the door and walked into a pitch black room (it was the middle of the day), which smelt of stale cigarettes. Eventually when we worked out how 2 open the doors to get some light in we realised it didnt look anything like what we expected.
Very dated blue wooden furniture, wallpaper yellow, ripped and peeling, poo brown itchy blankets, and the smell of stale cigarettes was getting worse, even as a smoker myself. (I had the decency to not smoke in my room though for other peoples interests)
Soon realised that it wasnt all bad as we wouldnt really spend much time in the room apart from when sleeping.
A typical day consisted of waking up at 9am, going for breakfast, going bak 2 room and grabbing a book and went down what seemed like a million stair to the beach, stayed on the beach untill about 5pm and hiked back up to our apartment. (The lift was always broke)Usually had an hours 'siesta' as the hot sun and doing nothing wore us out, then after showering went for dinner, drank lots of wine and went to bed.
Found there was a wide variety of food, but after a while got repetative. There was a kids menu which consisted of just chips, meatballs and frankfurt sasuages..everyday. As a vegetarian i wasnt too impressed with the vegetarian options, salad got boring and usually had meat hidden in there. Not labelled.
Go easy on the wine!! It is very young, therefor quite strong as i found out on the first night! Bad hangover!
Got a local bus on the fourth day to zakinthos town. That was a waste of time. Carpet shops, souvineir shops selling hats and keyrings, and random chemists, and fish mongers. Nothing to do there.
Found the beach nice, but in order to get a sun lounger you 1.had to pay, which i found cheeky as it was all inclusive and 2. Make sure u buy one at about 9am as they are all taken by 10am. Also sand is full of cigarette buts. Again, as a smoker myself i know i am a hypocrite to complain but i made sure i collected mine in a cup and put in the bin.
Airport back was the worst. I can only descibe it as a cattle market...wait no an overheated sweaty cattle market. There were 4 small desks, a room of about 400 people and you struggled to move. No where to sit, many on the floor so you found yourself stepping over them. One packed duty free shop, very limited, and one cafe. 6euros for a cup of tea...horrible tea and 4 euros for a can of drink! Disgusting
Overall relaxing holiday, just limited things to do, and hotel needs a large lick of paint-everywhere.
