An Introduction To Algarve

The Algarve is a diverse and wonderful place and has something for everyone from Albufeira for the family and groups of friends to Villamoura for the golfers to Carvoeiro and Alvor for the couples. There are areas of the Algarve that can appear to be daunting such as Quarteira, with it's abundance of graffitti and beggers but if you know where to go then I can guarantee you will enjoy your holiday. There are many beaches and the high rise developments that you see littering the Costas are not in evidence here, it is easy to navigate from one resort to another by courtesy of one major road that links all the resorts. For the golfers there are many courses to choose from and some good deals to be had if you are able to go in the high summer, when greenfees are at there lowest. High season is May and September when greenfees are very high. The Porugese food is simple and good value and it is worth trying the house wine as it is often good value and of a good standard, although spririts and exported beer can be more expensive than at home - try to ask for the local alternative as it is not always the one given automatically. Have a great time in the Algarve!
