Budapest is a wonderful city, we will definitely return. Unfortunately we only had 2 days there so would recommend more time to see everything. One of the best things we did was to take a boat trip of the city and onto Margret Island, what a great place!

We had previously spent 5-days in Szekszard and as I am a vegetarian, I was more than happy to get to Budapest to finally have a decent meal! There are vegetarian restaurants in Budapest we visited the Govinda which was great value for money and delicious food but sadly no alcohol as it is a Hare Krishna eatery.
We also visited the laser theatre at the planetarium which was amazing. We found it difficult to get by in Hungary without understanding the lingo, as hardly anyone speaks much English, but the metro system was really easy and very cheap.
Budapest is slightly more expensive than the rest of Hungary whilst still being much cheaper than home. I booked our flights, insurance and hotel through easyjet and octopus travel and got great deals.

Accommodation

The Ibis Aero hotel was wonderful. When we arrived it looks quite disapointing from the outside but all the interior of the hotel has been recently updated. The rooms are spacious and absolutely spotless with a nice size en-suite. There is a bar which is quite expensive, if you cross the road there is a sunken outdoor bar in front of a shopping mall which is much better value. Everything we wanted was on our doorstep of the hotel including the metro and tram station, shopping mall, fast food eateries and a couple of bars.

The hotel is a little out of the way of the centre of Budapest but you can just hop on the metro to get to the centre. Breakfast was a cold buffet as much as you can eat which helped to set us up for the day! I cannot fault the hotel, location or the city, it's great and I am sure we will be spending much more time there in the future.
