Overall Resort Rating:
I visit Calangute, Baga and Candolim from the Palmarinah resorte, its a good base and a peaceful retreat after the hustle and bustle of visits to town. Its cheap enough to take taxis everywhere although u can walk to calangute in 15 mins during the day (i wouldnt recommend walking in the evening as there is very little lighting.

"Heaven on earth"
Overall Resort Rating:
According to Hindu mythology, Goa magically appeared when the God Vishnu fired his arrow into its sands. Maybe that's why holidays in Goa are so out of this world.
There are 66 miles of beaches to choose from, each one with its own unique personality. And so much amazing food to try. For 450 years Goa was a Portuguese colony so the local cuisine is a tempting blend of Portuguese flavour and Indian spice. But don't worry if you've got a more conservative palate. Most of Goa's hotels serve international dishes of a particularly high standard.
Shopaholics will love the colourful markets and bazaars. And can buy tailormade clothes and shoes for a fraction of the UK price. While night-owls can party into the small hours in the buzzing beach-front bars of Anjuna and Vagator. There's a Western feel to the nightlife in Goa and plenty of other holidaymakers to strike up conversation with.
A great place to stay in Goa is the Marinha Dourada. Its rooms are simple but its surroundings are beautiful. The perfect getaway for those looking to relax. From here, take an excursion to Dudhsagar Waterfalls – the most impressive falls in Goa. Bathe in the clear waters in the midst of the jungle greenery. Just watch out for the monkeys…
You might be looking for cheap holidays to Goa? Or maybe you prefrer luxury summer holidays to Goa? Either way, we can help you have an experience to remember.

Overall Resort Rating:
Noisy, dirty, smelly. Rubbish everwhere and constant hassle in the street. Yes it is cheap but I would never return. The beach has potential but the piles of litter behind the huts spoil it. The trip to the waterfall and spice trail was our best day but get a personal driver rather than a coach trip. The tuctucs seemed safer than taxis as they do not go so fast. Definitely try I95 restaurant. Utterly beautiful and made the holiday for us.

"Something for everyone"
Overall Resort Rating:
The resort of Calangute has everything you would want in a beach holiday. The beaches are clean & the sea is great for people of all ages. Beach chalets offer free sunbeds & very cheap refreshments. For dinner, the area is awash with fantastic restaurants serving fresh sea food and a goumet of Indian dishes. Numerous outlets are available offering trips to fabulous sights around the area including Spice farms, markets & a chance to see & ride elephants. Local taxi,s are very cheap & thedrivers very helpful.

"Phoenix Park Inn Resort"
Overall Resort Rating:
The Phoenix Park itself is surrounded by exotic gardens – think palm trees, tropical flowers and well-kept lawns. At the centre of it all is the lagoon-shaped pool, which has a spacious sun terrace and snack bar on the side. Bedrooms have been kept light and airy. Think cool tiled floors, cream walls and ceiling fans set the scene. Simple wooden furniture and big beds dressed in stripy cotton take centre-stage. Balconies are all part of the package, too, and extras come in the form of air-conditioning, mini fridges and satellite TVs.

were to start calengute has so much to offer and if you give bartering a try then like myself once you have done it a few times its the most natural thing to do and fun,the beaches are clean and there are plenty of food outlets for you to enjoy and very well priced to coin a goaen phrase cheeper than asda, there were six in our party we went for 16 nights and ate out every night(we were on limited funds)and we had two course meals every night and also drinks (some of them beer) and the bill was never more than 30 english pounds.and we never had a bad meal the whole time that we were there (you couldent have that in the uk)so we brought plenty of money home.the methods of transport were either tuk tuk which is very cheep and fast, then there is scooters(automatic)the petrol is very cheep also day hire is around the 150 rupee mark which is less than three pounds a day, then last but not least the taxi if you want reliable taxi driver then the number to contact is 9822585755 the name is claudio the taxi is a/c which is a must and the rates are very good and the driver is friendly and honest and will wait for you all day if called for.ther is also a free bus service from the hotel to town four times a day.places to eat very recommended are the lobster pot in candolin, the capricorn,le jardine, east meets west, the aubergine,to name but a few the taxi driver will help you out ,its called local knowledge.try the night cruise in paniji it is brill.also the night market it has music, food, warmth and bargins galore.will be going back 2011 and it will not be our last.

Visited Kerkar art gallery when we went to Goa nad went to the evening performace which was about 250r each if I remember. We were given a bottle of Limca (ugh!) but never mind, and were seated in the back courtyard of the centre. Seating for about 20-30 I think and the courtyard was lit with atmosphefric tealights, temple lantern type lighting and there was the smell of incense. The performance was preceded by a very short but informative talk and then each performer gave short inrto to there performance. Saw a sitar and table player and classical indian dancers.Lasted about 2 hours and was well worth the visit. there is also the art gallery there which is small but very interesting to see or purchase items(no pressure whatsoever).

Love it. We hired a scooter this time and its like being in whacky races - the driving is crazy. Lots of great places to eat. Very busy beach with hundreds of Indian tourists at weekends. Candolim which is the next beach down is much quieter and peaceful.

Overall Resort Rating:
A lively, buzzing resort with a wide variety of restaurants and bars to cater for every taste.Make sure that you try the freshly cooked samosas from the street stalls. you can watch them being prepared and cooked and they are the best that I have ever eaten.I can also recommend the thali at Atithis, the veg hakka noodles and fresh pomegranate juice at Punjabi Classic and the Mushroom and garlic rice and dosas at the Plantain leaf. The best tailors for quality made to measure garments at competitive prices is MACS at the Nizmar Resort.

we have been to calangute 6 times now, its a very busy town but thats part of the fun.the beach has got a lot busier since we were last there 2 years ago. we found candolim quieter and cleaner and i think next time we go we will opt for this area over calangute, not that calangute isnt nice but having been there 6 times its time for a change.

"Go explore Goa"
Overall Resort Rating:
I travelled with my boyfriend to Goa last March(09) for a week and stayed in Calangute, Bardez. I'd been to Goa twice before, but my boyfriend who had never been was a little sceptical at first but loved it after a week. A chilled out holiday, lots of exploring, eating and drinking. Great for a week or two or more if you want to make this a base for exploring the rest of India. Food at the beach shacks is good, lots of seafood and fish. Nightlife/ entertainment is based around drinking at the beach shacks some of which have fire eating and shows on the beach or going to the hippy night market which you've got to see even if its just to watch the hippies dance and play their music. There are a few nightclubs in Baga, but most have closed down or are very quiet. Tito's and Mambo's is still there but no one in them in March as its coming to the end of the season. The best club of all Cubana's has been closed by police. Take a trip to Panjim, the closest city for shopping, there are a few clothes shops selling designer gear, a Nike shop, some other sports shops, nice restaurants, some casino ships. The traffic getting into Panjim is amazing especially if you go by scooter, but make sure you wear a helmet. Taxi (2 seater) transfer from the airport to Calangute/ Candolim costs around 700 rupees one way, you will have to exchange some money at the airport but don't exchange more than the taxi ride as you will get a better rate of exchange somewhere in your resort. Just ask in any shop if they exchange, they normally have a little sign up outside.
