"Aldeia Santa Rita"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Made up of low-rise Portuguese-style buildings – think pastel-coloured walls and terracotta tiled roofs – this resort has the air of a mini village. It’s surrounded by lush gardens, too, so there’s a real back-to-nature vibe. At the heart of the greenery, you’ll find a classic rectangular pool. It’s fringed by two mature trees that offer plenty in the way of natural shade. But if the beach is more your thing, the fine white sands of Sinquerim beach are just a short walk away. As well as being great for sunbathing, it’s a top spot for watersports, too. In terms of the accommodation itself, it looks really traditional. We’re talking wrought-iron balconies, black-and-white tiled terraces and French doors designed to let in plenty of light. Inside, bedrooms are light and airy spaces decked out in a palette of creams and vanillas. You’ll find simple wooden furniture and beds dressed in stripy cotton, plus modern trimmings like air-conditioning, minibars and satellite TVs.

"First Class"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Could not find anything to fault in this hotel, we loved it. The staff were fantastic, always smiling, polite and helpful, nothing was too much bother. We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary whilst there and arrived back after a lovely day out to find flowers and cake in our room from the staff and management. The food was to die for and the drinks flowed very freely. Wonderful, wonderful hotel.

"Best in Goa"
Overall Hotel Rating:
My husband and I have been going to Goa for the last 11 years we have tried all types of hotels in Goa that's your really basic and the 5 star but i have got to say the Aldeia Santa Rita beats the lot. We have made many friends there thats including the staff they are fantastic. The weather is beautiful and the locals are so friendly and everything is so cheap

"Aldeia Santa Rita - Candolim"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Cannot fault the hotel or its staff. Great food, rooms and service from all the staff. Stayed at the Phoenix Park in 2007 and it not is does not come close the the Aldeia Santa Rita apart from its location is in more central Candolim. A taxi from here was only 80 rupees to anywhere in Candolim and it is a much nicer area. If we go back to Goa we would always try to stay at the Aldeia Santa over anywhere else.

"Aldeia Santa Rita review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Went here all inclusive for 3 weeks in Dec 06 but would have liked to stay longer. Weather was delightful everyday - hot, sunny, blue skies, warm sea, gentle breeze.
Hotel is rated 3 star but is better than this, helpful friendly numerous staff. Clean, quiet, secure, situated at the less hectic south end of a 6 mile sandy beach backed by shacks serving drinks, snacks with sunbeds and umbrellas all the way to Baga.
Hotel has a pool, fresh towels and plenty of sunbeds.
Rooms are spacious, en suite, a/c, fans, fridge, TV. comfortable beds, small kitchen, sitting room, balcony. Decoration a bit simple. Irons and hairdrier available at reception. Free safety deposit boxes, take you own padlock or buy theirs, £2 to keep.
Food is buffet style or waiter served, spicy or fiery but a European alternative. Good breakfast. Dining area in open, or covered and fans. Drinks copious and free (we were all inclusive).
We guests were mainly English, middle-aged or active elderly. Not really geared for children but there were some.
The rep. Paul was attentive.
Outside - taxis are plentiful, local buses frequent and pennies (if you dare). Very safe to walk about but you will be mythered by touts and vendors, be firm, say no.
Goa is a cheap place, in the markets be sure to settle for a quarter of what they ask. Chemists are well stocked and cheap, eg. malaria tablets are a third the price at home, but you are supposed to start them a week before you go. We didn't see any mosquitos.
Be warned, Goa is a culture shock but nice and a wonderful experience. The people are lovely and almost all speak English.

Overall Hotel Rating:
This was our fifth trip to Goa. Each time weve been we stayed in Candolim. The aldeia was excellent. Friendly staff, clean rooms, very good food. Its the best hotel weve stayed in so far. The worst hotel we stayed in was the Dona Alcina.
Good places to eat were Bon appetit where the staff and food was lovely, A reverie is a very romantic restaurant to eat at and the food is out of this world. But in Candolim there are many superb eating places at very good prices.
Also having prescription glasses done. I had two pairs made costing £50. I had them done at Shop no.6 Parushottam Smriti ,Panaji. Dr.Atmaram Borker Road the opticians name was Sandeep Bhobe.Visit Bombay bazar in Panjim for bargains, shoes, clothes. Taxis are cheap in Candolim but we have used our taxi driver to pick us up at the airport and ferry us around on trips and also to Panjim, his name is Arun Kudnekar. He is very reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
Happy Holidays.

Overall Hotel Rating:
After reading the other reviews on this site before our trip abroad, we were looking forward to our trip to this hotel, we weren't disappointed! We returned yesterday and we are missing it already. The hotel is lovely, very picturesque and small. The best thing about this accommodation has to be the food, it was delicious. Im veggie and there was plenty of choice for me, there was also plenty of meat dishes for the rest of my family. My son did find the food abit boring because he doesn't like indian food, so lived on chips, omlette and cheese toasties!
The hotel staff are all really helpful and friendly. My son had his 9th birthday while we were there and when the staff found out, they organised for a birthday cake and bunch of flowers to be delivered to the room.
The location of the hotel is great with the beach just a short walk down a quiet path, although it can be a bit tiring in the heat as most of the way to the beach is sandy. The hotel is also situated in a quieter area of Candolim, but the hussle and bustle of Baga, Calangute and Candolim are just a short taxi ride away, costing just a few pounds. The pool area is really nice and peaceful and as mentioned by others, never seemed to get crowded. The beach is nice and breezy, but the sea is very rough and has a strong tide, not good for small children.
The shopping, the food and the people made this holiday just wonderful and we will definatley be going back to Goa and the same hotel again.
"Aldeia Santa Rita review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We were a bit apprehensive at first going to India. However, on arrival at the hotel our attitude changed considerably. The Aldeia Santarita is a smallish hotel comprising of a number of colourful blocks (two rooms up and two rooms down) set in peaceful tropical gardens surrounded by palm trees. The rooms, whilst basic, had everything needed including a regularly restocked fridge. Our room had to balconies; a large sun roof on the back overlooking the jungle at the back and a smaller more conventional one looking out the front towards the pool and dining/bar area. The room was cleaned everyday we were there. The pool was not large but more than adequate.
The food was unbelievable - mainly curries and other Indian food but on request they would knock up anything for no charge - including egg and chips (but not sunny-side up due to the bird flu). On returning home everyones first question was whether we came down with ";Dehli-Belly";. I can say with all honesty none of us (four in the party) had any upset stomachs whatsoever which is more than we can say for other parts of the world we have visited!!!!
The hotel staff, without exception, were brilliant. Very friendly and helpful but without hassling. We never had to wait more than a couple of moments for drinks or anything which is a bit unusual for all-inclusive.
We did the customary trip to the waterfalls and the spice farm but did not go with the tour company. Instead we negotiated with a taxi driver who was at our disposal for the day for a fixed fee going wherever we wanted. Including admission fees, we paid about a quarter of what we would have paid to go on the tour companies trips and no waiting for people to get back to the coach or having to pick up/drop off at every hotel along the way.
Out and about the prices were very good. We went out every afternoon and evening, despite being on all-inclusive, and, including trips, drink, food, souveniers, etc., my wife and me only spent about £170 all week and it was the same for the other couple that was with us.
We shall definitely be going back.

Overall Hotel Rating:
If you are going to the Aldeia Santa Rita, or thinking about it, are you in for a treat! It is excellent value for money and what it lacks in star rating it more than makes up for it with the staff. We were treated like royalty. Every member of staff went out of their way to make our holiday a brilliant one, and the food is excellent.
No need to take any towels as beach towels and towels in room are provided daily. No hair dryer though. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean, although a little lived in.
If you need a guide and taxi for the day, call Jerom on 9822587362, he is brilliant!
This hotel is well worth revisiting.

"Aldeia Santa Rita review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
We have just returned from a fantastic two-week holiday to the Aldeia Santa Rita.
The hotel can only be described as excellent. The rooms were as previously reviewed pretty basic but no more than you would expect from similar type of accommodation in Spain. Our room was on the first floor and consisted of a large balcony, double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. There was also a living room with swing doors to a kitchen area. We also had ceiling fans, air conditioning and cable TV. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the bedding and towels changed on a daily basis.
The hotel is set in tropical gardens and is located in a quieter and more upmarket part of Candolim. Because of the relatively small size of this hotel it makes it feel more personnel. The staff can only be described as excellent. We were treated like Royalty throughout our stay and were on first name terms with the waiters. The food was excellent catering for most tastes with a different theme every night including curries, kebabs, continental and veggie dishes etc. The swimming pool was small but never appeared crowded despite the hotel being full. The closest beach was located at the back of the hotel. This is more Sinquerim than Candolim and is at the quieter end. Go to Victor and Godfeys shack (first on right). The Kingfisher is ice cold and the chips are like your grandmother used to make. This was quite simply the best holiday we have ever had. Once you get over the culture shock including some terrible poverty India is a fascinating place to visit.
We have already booked to return to the Aldeia Santa Rita for next December.

Overall Hotel Rating:
we have visited Goa on several occasions, and stayed in Candolim twice before. This year we booked a late deal, and chose the Aldeia Santa Rita on an all inclusive basis.Normally we choose to eat out on holiday, but at the Aldeia we were spoilt for choice. The meals were either buffet, barbecue, or a la carte, and everything was to a high standard. The bar staff and waiters were friendly, efficient, and generally the service was excellent.
The hotel is in a quieter part of Candolim, and only a short taxi ride away to the main area of shops and bars. There are plenty of eating places within walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel accomodation is clean and adequate. The rooms have a terrace or balcony, and the surrounding gardens are very well maintained. The manager of the hotel, Orlando, seemed to be on duty continuously, and could not have been more friendly ,or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He managed to find the time to have a chat with everyone, and ensured all the guests were happy. We were so impressed with the hotel and staff, we have booked again for next year.
Some other tips for holidaymakers in Candolim are to visit the After Eight Restaurant, and Lawrence's beach shack, The Ritz, at calangute.
