I booked to stay here with my husband as a surprise for him, well we both got a surprise alright!! I asked for an iron and got one with all the wires hanging out at the end and the cord was all shredded, when I pointed it out to the lady she said 'Yes I know' my husband then said it is extremely dangerous like that again she said Yeah I know. Room 103 is very noisey and the one breakfast we had was cold so we left it. We booked an early morning call and a taxi as we had to leave early on sunday morning neither of these got sorted out!!! just a good job we didnt have one too many on our last night or we would probably of missed the plane.

The hotel is conveniently placed for visiting Dublin centre but does not have much more going for it. Rooms are just about OK. However, do not plan having an evening meal at the hotel. The restaurant is not open in the evenings, food is available in the bar but the quality and service is poor and the ambience terrible. However, you will pay restaurant prices.

Five travellers, aged from 25 to 81, stayed at the Boulevard for five nights 5th to the 10th of June 2008.First impressions of the rooms, not quite as clean as they should be. After breakfast, which you have to choose the day before, we left to visit relatives. When we returned to the Boulevard, the beds were still unmade and the rooms had not been cleaned.I spoke to the owner who said "people did not want staff in their rooms", I requested our rooms be cleaned, to which she agreed to do the following day. Next day, same scenario,no fresh towels, beds unmade, rubbish bins full,no toilet roll, excuse this time, "no spare keys for the bedrooms". The following day, success, clean rooms, towels and the beds made. Day four, back to square one, rubbish bins full, beds unmade, dirty towels etc.but they had been in the rooms to close the windows!!! When I complained to the owner, she said "why did I want the rooms cleaning again? it was only the other day they were done, and she wasn't going to keep staff on to clean rooms, when you are only paying 80 euros per night, and no bed and breakfast/guest houses ever make or change the beds" With that we paid and left. I can only assume from the reviews I have read, that most of the people are actually only staying for one night, and would not realise, rooms would not been cleaned on a daily basis. My advice, if you are staying for one night, it is very average, two or more nights, don't go near the place, we have previouslt stayed at some lovely places in Westport, this is not one of them, best avoided.

I have stayed at Russell Court 3 times and have enjoyed every visit. I have gone midweek and have had no problems with the nightclub in the basement but my in-laws have a had a bad experience with young hooligans swinging off the chandeliers and trashing the place but I honestly have had no problems myself. Our first visit there, we were shown to the room and to our amazement were given a bedroom like the Queens!! We had 4 huge pillars around the bed and we had to step up 2 steps to even get to the bed. The closed was like something off Sex and the City and the light came on as you entered and was like another room. The room was full of dated/mismatched furniture but was oldy wordly and nice. 2nd time we stayed we had the most enormous lounge I have ever seen, was like another penthouse suite, again old furniture and not a lot in this room, lots of open space but nice clean bedroom.

Hotel has a very nice trendy bar, serving yummy food during the day but a warning it can get very busy as a lot office workers nearby must use this for their meeting place. They have a big beer garden area out the back with BBQ, nice to sit in the summer and drink lovely Guiness and Bud.

Hotel well located and only five 5 mins walk to the centre where the shops and nightlife are. Would recommend a midweek stay here.

Dublin - what a place! I came here on a friend's hen weekend with 15 others and had the best weekend! If you're looking for relaxing days and full on nights, Dublin is for you.

The Comfort Inn Smithfield is a new hotel situated just north of the Liffey in an area that's going through massive regeneration (one thinks it must have been a bit dodgy until recently judging by the lack of bars, shops and other hotels in the area, but not a problem becuase temple bar is only 20 mins walk away). Very clean hotel, everything is bright and new. The room was large, with proper duvets on the beds, a dvd player, lots of mirrors and the best shower i've ever been in! That alone was worth the cost! A word of warning though - the hotel bar doesn't take cash after 11pm so you have to add it onto your room, which you can only do if you paid with a credit card! Confusing yes, but we managed to get drinks in the end!

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, not least because of the fanastic organic supermarket next door called 'Fresh' - their cheescakes are to die for!

All in all Dublin is an amazing city, but is a lot more expensive than when I first visited a few years ago, so bring plenty of money for the black stuff! The famous Temple Bar pub is a must (and even though smoke doesn't bother me it is a lot nicer now that smoking is banned inside), as is the open top city bus and the Guinness Museum (you get a free pint of Guinness, which you even get to pull yourself if you so wish!).

Temple Bar is a really vibrant, exciting area at night - it was absolutely heaving so be prepared to deal with crowds, including men dressed as women/animals/little britain characters (you get the picture) but if you want to eat out MAKE RESERVATIONS! We booked at an Italian place called Botticellis on the Saturday morning and to be honest we were lucky to get in, so be on the ball with that one. Fitzers is a fab place to go at night - a bar/club with 4 floors plus a roof terrace for the smokers (great until it chucks it down, which it tends to do in Ireland!) - great music, buzzing atmosphere and open til 3am, what more could you want!

So, go to Dublin, stay at the Smithfield Inn - you won't be disappointed!

We went in a mixed group of 5 and flew from Doncaster. We stayed at the George Frederic Handel Hotel and found it very friendly, clean and they did a good full Irish Breakfast.

Dublin itself is very nice and the people are so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help you.

We found a very good place to eat which was round the corner from the hotel called The Copper Alley Bistro and it was very reasonable compared to alot of other places. Temple Bar was very crowded and quite expensive and catered for the younger crowd. We found a couple of good pubs - The Braze Head and one called Tom Kennedy's where on a Monday night they have a sing-along - you must go to this its amazing and at the end they all stand and sing the Irish National Anthem. Another good pub was Nealons next to a gay bar but it was alot quieter.

The Irish dancing is worth a look at at The Arlington Hotel. You have to book a table but it is free to get in and gets really packed.

All in all we had a very good time

Dead easy to find, hop on the 747 bus from the airport, it's the first stop at O'Connel st and just a 4 minute walk. The bus costs 5e pp and worth it, I was told a taxi one way would be about 27e.

The hotel is a bit noisey, but for all round value doing it on the cheap you can't go wrong.

The open top bus gives you a good tour, we got off at Guiness and was glad that we did, as to go back another day, it is quite a way out. We did go early morning and got in easy, but by lunchtime the queues had really built up. tell them you came in on a tour bus and upon producing your ticket you get a discount.

the Temple Bar area is really nice, we had a nice early bird meal at Trastevere an Italian in the square, 39e for the two of us from their special menu, a starter and main with a glass of wine or beer and the portions were very good too.

The Temple bar itself is a good night, musicians on every night and if you like whiskey you really need to go here.

I did enjoy Dublin, but found it quite expensive, with 2drinks ( pint of guiness and a glass of wine , a small one at that or a single short) averaging out at 9e.
