A really beautiful city but we weren't there nearly long enough. So much to see and do, and the weather at the end of September is fantastic - not too hot, but lovely and sunny. The food is amazing, but some restaurants seem to rip you off.

Cagliari review
"Ancient and Historic destination"
resort to a friend
Cagliari is full of ancient sites to see although is is not the easist cuty to get aroubd due to the narow streets and the hills. The city is on a hilltop although the port are and the Via Roma are on the flat Poetta Beach is a lovely stretch of golden sand with a shaoowl calm shorline with easy bathing access. There are good facilities and across from the main road are the salt marshes where you can see the lovely pink flamingoes as well as other wild birds. The castle area is fabulous for getting a birds eye view of the city and you can visit the Roam ampi theatre. There are some lovely designer shops and the most georgous bags and shoes ont the Via Garibaldi and Alghero. Sardinianb wine is mellow on the tongue and there are plenty of good areas to eat around the Piaza Jenne area. All told a lovely city to visit.

This resort would have probably been a lot more lively in the height of the season. It was lovely and clean and people were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. It was a very relaxing holiday.

A lovely resort. Brilliant views down the cliffs and over to Etna. Still very hot at the end of September, I probably wouldn't fancy visiting in July or August though. Plenty of trips you can take too, Catania is well worth a visit to explore the gritty backstreets round the port. Etna is a must too!

The pizza is amazing here, we ate in a few of the street cafes and a couple of restaurants and the food was lovely everywhere. I don't think I could of survived on Pizza and Pasta for more than three days though, nobody seemed to eat anything else. We struggled to get by without learning any Italian before we went and stood out with our map and translation book but the Napoli people were so friendly and very helpful

Comments : I asked Alfonso Massa from Naples Villas for help with finding this property. Solaria Resort has a fabulous location (albeit hard to find). The villa we stayed in was enormous and scrupulously clean, although very dated in terms of interior decor and furniture.
The plus points were: 1) The most amazing view of Capri 2) The lovely garden with beautiful olive trees and contemporary patio furniture 3) The fabulous pool - scrupulously clean with inflatables available and a view that made it appear an infinity pool 4) The very helpful Pasquale and Rosaria who went to every effort to offer assistance for every situation and sort out any problems from lack of power due to electrical storms, or provide milk for English tea!
The negatives: 1) The welcome hamper (or lack of it!) We were expecting bread, butter/margerine, bottled water, milk, coffee, teabags, sugar, toilet roll, washing up liquid, washing powder, plus as it was a "welcome" hamper...maybe some fruit and cheese/ham or similar................. ...........we got some a small box of dried spaghetti, a tin of chopped tomatoes, a jar of pasta sauce, about 10 scented teabags, a bottle of fizzy water and 2 small bottles of beer (there were 3 of us!) 2) Lack of Satellite TV - apparently a cable was broken, so we had to wait 2 days for a resolution. Have to say that Pasquale was extremely helpful and arranged for an electrician to resolve the problem as a matter of urgency.

The town is really nice, with some brilliant restaurants. The beach a lot further up from the town is sandy and backed by palm trees, the beach near the town is like the worst part of Southend.

A very old and grand city now forgotten for some reason, just a few irregular ryanair and british airways flights from London now, and nothing from the rest of the UK. The backstreets near the port are fascinating, and there are lots of grand buildings and hidden gems.

A very quiet resort suitable for couples looking for a quiet getaway. Little to do on a night other than go for meals. Some lovely options on this front though. A stunning little town.

Although there is quite a bit to see in Desenzano you could possibly see it all in 2 or 3 days. This is a great resort to use as a base to explore Lake Garda. The beauty of the resort is that it is a landing for the ferries that criss cross the lake. This is a great way to see the whole of Lake Garda at a reasonable cost. It is also on the main Milan to Venice railway which also stops at Verona. The local trains (regionale) are a cheap way to travel and don't take too much longer than the high speed (SF) trains. Local buses are really cheap but you need to buy a ticket from a tabbachie before you travel.

I enjoyed my visit to the Poseidon Gardens very much. The Gardens are beautifully kept, scrupulously clean, and the change rooms, washrooms and locker rooms were private and comfortable. Because of the terraces, which are full of flowers, shrubs and trees, full shade can be found should the intensity of the Italian sun become overwhelming. So unlike the public beach nearby! The grounds are well-provided with lounge chairs, tanning benches and grass umbrellas, arranged around several pools of different theaputic purpose, temperature and orgin, whether salty sea water, or the thermal spring water for which the Gardens are famous. I enjoyed the Ischia Pool, with warm buoyant water and a central bench over which waters poured gently. I positioned myself so that it fell over my head and shoulders. The Aphrodite pool, cooler, features underwater jets that could be exactly positioned. The sauna (carved out of living rock!) was hot and misty.

When my wife and I were in Agrigento we arranged for a private tour of the Valley of the Temples and the Archeological Museum with Michele Gallo from a recommendation in Lonely Planet Sicily Travel Guide. We were very happy with the tour! Michele picked us up at our Hotel and drove us to the Archeological Park and Museum. Michele is very knowledgeable and a real authority on Greek and Roman history. I don’t know when we have had a better guide who was very accommodating to our interests and time. His prices are very reasonable. We were able to get a much better appreciation for Agrigento because of Michele’s excellent tour. We highly recommend him

Forever, my dream had been to travel to Provence, France and take a week of cooking classes. But, as I searched and researched for over two years, The Awaiting Table in the region of Puglia, Italy kept hitting me in the face, until it finally grabbed me by the heart, and wouldn't let go! So, I booked a week in Provence (did find a suitable class), followed by a week in Lecce at The Awaiting Table. That was just one year ago, and the memory of my week with Silvestro and 5 other Americans in his renovated stable/ kitchen is just as fresh and tender as if it were yesterday! It was an experience never to be forgotten! I shall return again soon to take the olive oil and wine classes; only this time my hubby will go, too. Please read all the other positive posts on this site(there are a couple of negative ones); I cannot say enough good things about Silvestro Silvestori and The Awaiting Table!

Positano has to be seem to be believed - really breathtaking. Especially from the top. It is a very windy mountain road to reach the resort, that itself is amazing. The resort is quite quiet at night, but there are a few lovely bars. It is very busy in the day though with daytrippers.
