"Friendly Staff but an Uphill Pull"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This hotel offered excellent value for money. The food was good for all the meals. The hotel was clean and the rooms well serviced. The towels were very thin - OK in summer but I don't think they would be much good in winter.
The hotel staff were very good - nothing was too much trouble for them.
A word of warning though. The hotel is at the top of a VERY steep driveway so if you are less than fit you will need to make use of the courtesy bus. However the bus can get full at times so you can be hanging around waiting for it.
Overall good value.

"Fantastic but a bit of a Climb"
Overall Hotel Rating:
This is a really great hotel and good value for money. We managed to negotiate 12 nights half boad for 3 people for less than £1000. The hotel was clean and facilies good. The pool and bar was great. Don't book here if you dont like walking uphill. The access road is very steep although there is a shuttle mini bus into town - but it gets busy at times. We would definitely go again.

"Nice basic hotel with fantastic views"
Overall Hotel Rating:
Wonderful views, room basic but comfortable. Take a travel kettle and sit in the early evening with a coffee overlooking the lake from your balcony. Lovely walk down hill into the village and minibus back. Went in May 2009 and very hot reaching 33 degrees. Very small shop on site with very limited opening hours. Great place to relax and some pretty but steep walks. Balconies close so not very private but lovely to sit out in the evening and look over the lake. You will not starve as there is something for everyone, not exceptional but you can find something you will enjoy. We had no trouble or very little trouble getting a sunbed around the pool. When we were there we had brilliant sunshine but you could still see snow on the mountains. Had a wonderful week and would certainally go back. Limone is lovely and you have to take at least one trip on the lake and visit one or two of the other towns.

"Wonderful Time"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The Hotel and staff were very good we had a great time here for the whole two weeks. Rooms were cleaned every day and service in the resturant was excellent. Because the hotel is built into the side of a mountain some of the rooms can be a little bit harder to reach than others, but wherever you are the views are fantastic. The food was excellent and always plenty to choose from. The staff all spoke English but liked it when we tried Italian to order from the Pizzaria which again was very good value (you must try a pizza).

"Hotel La Limonaia review"
Overall Hotel Rating:
The hotel is very comfortable and food excellent. Buffet for breakfast and an excellent 4 course evening meal - a buffet of excellent starters, choice of well cooked pasta dishes followed by a choice of meat or fish course and pudding which always included lots of fruit. Staff very charming and helpful especially Vilma the managers mum who was the most hardworking woman I've met for a long time.
There is a small supermarket which sells water, papers etc. The walk down to Limone is steep but there is an excellent hourly bus service to bring you back again.
Limone is a lovely village with everything you need.Ferries run to all the other villages at the top end of the lake and you can spend a very pleasant couple of days visitng each one and discovering how individual each one is.
We took 5 trips- the southern lake trip to see the wider flatter end of the lake- lovely, Verona- disappointing because of all the traffic,Belzano to see the Iceman- an absolute must, wonderful day on the mountains then to Belzano a super town with a superb museum, Verona again to see the opera- Wow! an incredibly long evening-take a cushion and plenty of water, but an amazing experience, and last but not least a day in Mantova a 14th century gem of a town where we had a super meal. Our Inghams rep -Heather was helpful, knowledgable and very supportive. Our suitcase was lost somewhere on the outward journey( it eventually turned up 2 days later) and she kept us informed every step of the way. I don't know who was more pleased to see it her or us.
A very good relaxing holiday.
