We had a few trips booked through the rep - we went up Mount Vesuvius ( check the weather & take a cardigan etc as it gets very windy as well as decent footwear ) and riun town of Pompeii. We were left to walk up the mountain at our own pace then taken to Pompeii and given a walk through the ruins with our guide while she explanined what things were. She didnt seem to know much apart from her practised speech as I overheard someone asking her a simple question which she didnt know the answer to! We also went to Rome in a Day - never again! We were stuck in traffic for nearly 2 hours ( traffic accident ) then rushed through the whole day to make the time back. We had to literally run back to the coach to make it on time! We saw Vatican City, the Sisteen Chapel, the Coliseum & the Roman Forum Gardens. We set of at 7.10am and arrived back at the hotel at 10.30pm - it was a long day. Our last trip was to the Isle of Capri. We had a boat ride halfway around the island and went up the chair lift to the highest part of the Island called Anacapri ( 12 mins up 12 mins down, you get scooped up in the chair and swept away to the top - I needed a whisky at the top! ) Sorrento town mainly sells leather goods, lemon items or inlaid wood furniture & knick knacks. They also have shops selling junk like keyrings etc. There seems to be quite a few clothes & jewellry shops too. There is a main strip of shops as well as the backstreet ones where I found things to be cheaper. The main strip becomes pedestrianised in the evening. The English Inn is very boring & Chaplins the Irish bar ( ran by and Italian couple ) gets packed after 9pm. The roads of Sorrento are not for the faint hearted - watch out for the mopeds.

The hotel is very clean & maintained well. The communal areas are comfortable & spacious. The bar & pool are also nice but can get very busy. Our room had a small balcony overlooking Mount Vesuvius & Naples to the left, the fishing harbor to the front & Sor...

The hotel is very clean & maintained well. The communal areas are comfortable & spacious. The bar & pool are also nice but can get very busy. Our room had a small balcony overlooking Mount Vesuvius & Naples to the left, the fishing harbor to the front & Sorrento town to the right. The road outside the hotel is very busy and difficult to cross ( even though they have zebra crossings - drivers ignore them ) and the road from the hotel into town is only a 5 - 10 min stroll slowly downhill. The food served is lovely and we only ate out maybe twice in the fortnight. The gardens were a nice surprise to explore and the views are even better from up there. During our first week we seemed to be the youngest guests their ( 26 & 29 ) and the majority of the other guests were between 50 and 80, but during the second week the hotel seemed to be busier and more younger couples & families with children arrived. We sometimes had to queue up for our breakfast or evening meal!

There was a few things that weren't perfect. The maid was very noisy first thing in the morning & we were often woken at 7.30 by her & her trolley. The room walls were very thin & other guest noises were very loud ( marble floors )The maitre d was a bit slimy and pushy with us. Any drinks you have during your meals or by the pool get added onto your final bill at the end of your holiday which we weren't told about when we booked. Just be careful you save some money to pay it as it quickly adds up & you can get carried away.

The things that really stood out as brilliant was the cleanliness of the whole hotel. There wasn't a chair or table cloth out of place! The main waiter in the bar was a lovely fella & the views were outstanding.

We booked our holiday through Newmarket Travel and were very satisfied with our first visit to Italy. I would agree that the hotel was slightly off the beaten track in that it was not possible for coaches to park right outside as it sits next door but one to the Terminus hotel. It should be remembered that Fiuggi is a very famous and popular spa town with the Italians, and if you are looking for a holiday that is full of night life this is not the place for you. We found without exception all of the people in the town and especially the hotel to be very friendly and welcoming, and bearing in mind that we spoke very little Italian, and this is a resort frquented mostly by Italians, we found that the staff worked very hard to communicate with us, and it is amazing what value a smile has in these circumstances. With regard to the excursions provided, we took all of these, actually booking most of them when we booked initially with Newmarket, and this proved to be the right way to do this. It actually worked out less this way than waiting to book them in the resort as exchange rates change. The flights to and from were with easyjet from Gatwick and was our first experience with this company, and we were not disappointed with the service. All in all, if you are looking for a mid priced holiday that will provide a good introduction to the region, then this is a good start.

Two minutes walk from Apartment to sea, for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling around the rocks. We saw an octopus! Local shops for food include a Spar, and a great little delicatessen near the apartment

Newly decorated, light and airy, with fantastic bathroom and kitchen. The staff were lovely, especially Lucia, who spoke good English. The pool was colder than the sea, but very clean. Not really the area to bring young children, but great for couples. Don't miss Vesuvius and Pompeii! We were sorry to leave, and would go again anytime.

Stayed at the Grand Hotel Flora August 2008 and whilst the appearance of the hotel from the foyer is grand this is where the grandeur ends. Each room has a fridge which you will find running when you enter your room, try opening it, not so lucky an additional charge of 7 Euros per week is levied to unlock the door! The safe is also charged at 7 Euros per week. Our high level balcony room with a sea view was in deed a room on the first floor overlooking a 24hr petrol filling station on a main road. Complained and eventually upgraded & charged an extra 30 Euros per day for the privilege. The breakfast is limited however if you can stomach bread, ham and cheese for a fortnight your in luck. The staff within the restaurant are very accommodating however one particular waiter appears to dislike people and can be quite rude and doesn’t appear to discriminate he is quite rude to everyone. I’m not quite sure why he has chosen this vocation!!!. The evening menu was quite acceptable, the staff were very accommodating with my 5 year old, providing pasta dishes without the spicy sauces and grilled chicken as and when requested. Each Wednesday evening a gala night is provided and if like us you like your holiday to be private and not represent a night at Butlins you abstain but no other facilities provided. Eat in or eat out at your cost. Room service is limited to the menu provided within the restaurant with an additional 5 Euros per head levied. Therefore if there is nothing you like on the menu eat out or go hungry. Good size pool however the attendant is not particularly friendly unless you’re Italian and then you are showered with attention including drinks brought to your table without charge. The sun beds are charged at 7 Euros each per day (or if Italian you don’t have to pay!!!) Children are encouraged not to jump into the pool as this splashes the Italians and makes the tiles slippery. Call me old fashioned but isn’t a pool to be jumped in? shouldn’t the sun beds be moved out of range with serious sunbathers encouraged to use the upper deck bathing area. The pool closes abruptly at 6pm with the attendant unceremoniously kicking you out disinfecting around you without consideration for children still changing or sitting in that area. This hotel is classified as 4 star but is sadly lacking and given our experience should be downgraded to 3. All in all a let down, when paying for 4 stars you want 4 star facilities and this hotel does not offer that

I really enjoyed my stay in Sorrento-i am looking forward to going back a bit more clued up. It is very expensive-but there are cheaper options if you look for them. The restaraunts & bars in the centre are expensive but there are cheaper places in amongst the more residential streets. Taxis were so so so expensive and they tried to get as much money off you as possible-some drives we encountered didnt even offer your change back, we had to ask for it and he wasnt too pleased. The fares go up at night. We stayed in the Esperidi Resort which was about a 30 min stroll from the centre-our taxi fare home was 40 euro!! Next time we'll make use of the buses and trains. Another thing that cost money was the 'beach'. There is a stretch of deck chairs all squished together along the water and you have to pay to get down on to it. Im pretty sure that a lounger cost extra. Theres plenty more to do and see in Sorrento-just a walk around town entertained us for hours. So beautiful with awesome views-such a romantic place. Try and get to pompei if you do visit sorrento-its stunning.

We went to Sorrento for a wedding-for that it couldnt have been more perfect. Sorrento is quite expensive but there are cheaper options if you have the time to look. Bars and restaraunts in amongst the more residential streets were cheaper that the ones on ...

We went to Sorrento for a wedding-for that it couldnt have been more perfect. Sorrento is quite expensive but there are cheaper options if you have the time to look. Bars and restaraunts in amongst the more residential streets were cheaper that the ones on the main centre. Esperidi Resort is NOT what it appears on its website. The rooms look nothing like what you see in the pictures. They were the most basic rooms I have ever ever stayed in. The rooms were little chalets comprising a tiny dark bedroom and a tiny dark bathroom. No tv, kettle, cutlery or anything. Just a bed. However, the pool was lovely-never too busy and a perfect temperature. Esperidi Resort is situated in a place just outside Sorrento called Santanello. It also does not state this on the website. Taxis were required most of the time for us at night and they cost a bomb! Our first night out, we walked 30 mins to the centre and the taxi home cost 40 euro. Please also be aware that Esperidi Resort does not have a restaraunt-(does not state this on website either) It serves a basic breakfast buffet and bad pool snacks but thats it. I would def return to Sorrento but maybe not stay here-its great for someone who wants a basic holiday but would not be good for families.

Stunning views, superb location, excellent food, awesome scenery, brilliant friendly and efficient staff and service. Would not change a single thing about this hotel, we had the best holiday ever and ran out of superlatives by day 3..! Sea view with balcony is well worth it - the view is to die for. Only downside is that we probably won't ever match this holiday for its sheer perfection - so we will no doubt return again one day.
