Probably one of the best hotels we have stayed in - yes, it was that good. From the moment you arrive, the conceirge and reception staff are very pleasant and keen to assist. The room, although we were unable to get a room with a sea view and it overlooked the town, was bright, airy, well decorated and clean with good facilities. The restaurant and staff, headed by Maitre'D' Enzo were superb. The food was a delight. Evening meals were of excellent quality, home cooked and beautifully presented. Staff were incredibly attentive and loved the children and made a big fuss of them. Breakfast could be taken outside, sitting in the shade under the orange and lemon trees....perfect. The hotel has 2 pools. One on the roof with spectacular views over the bay of Naples. The pool was small i.e. for dipping not swimming, but perfectly adequate with lots of sunbeds and a small bar. In the hotel gardens, the second pool was bigger and more suited to swimming, again, very pleasant. In terms of location, the hotel is very weell situated, about a 5 minute walk from the main square Piaza Tasso. Taxis incredibly expensive - take comfortable shoes.

A wonderful place for a 'non beach' type holiday. Beautiful Sorrento sits on top of spectacular cliffs overlooking the bay of Naples. Lots of places to eat and drink in a very relaxed atmosphere. We went in May and the weather was excellent - suuny and hot ...

We have just spent two wonderful weeks at the De Ville. This was mainly due to the wonderful staff and food at the hotel.

By the time we left we felt like we had made a whole bunch of new friends.

Our room was tastefully decorated and very clean. We had a room at the back of the hotel, which overlooked the local flats (not very attractive).

It was a bit noisy because we were having to sleep with the doors open as the air conditioning had not been switched on yet, although this didn't impact too negatively on our holiday. A pair of earplugs solved the noise issue.

The pool on the 6th floor was an absolute joy with wonderful views over the Bay of Naples.

I would highly recommend this hotel but would suggest trying to get a room facing the front and higher up so you could take full opportunity of the wonderful views.

Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. We created memories of a lifetime.

When we came arrived at Naples airport and got on the bus, we were in shock. What poverty confronted us. I did not realise Southern Italy was so poverty stricken. We thought it would get better as we journeyed onwards but it did not.

The Hotel was the only good thing about Sorrento, however once you walked outside the hotel, you were nearly run over by traffic and mopeds. There was hardly anything to do in Sorrento, only walk down to Piazza Tasso and back again. There was no beach, no sea view walk, no gardens or parks to walk in. Even the pavements are only designed for one person single file in some areas, which was absolute torture!! when faced with traffic coming towards you.

We went for the day trip on the boat to Amalfi and it was a disater. It really is poverty. They don't tell you about this in the brochures.

The food was lovely in the Hotel and the breakfast was brilliant. We had a nice front facing room, which was spacious and cleaned daily. However when you left the hotel it went downhill. Sorrento was also full of old age retired persons also which did not help a young couple like us. There was no discos, no bars or karaoke and it rained all week. In fact we got so bored by the Thursday that we booked flights back to the UK on Friday, could not stay there any longer!

This hotel was a real find. Small enough to have a personal feel, the staff were amazing not one 'grumpy' amongst them! Food was good, breakfast fantastic, lasted us through the day!The setting was charming as were the small but beautifully kept gardens. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. It had a pleasant view out to sea. The 2 pools were filled but we didn't swim, not quite warm enough. The view from the roof pool was spectacular. We were very lucky with the weather which enabled us to see all the surrounding sights. There is easy access to buses and railway links from the hotel.

We were told by our rep' to buy priority stamps for our postcards, which we did but sadly none of the cards posted in the main Post Office have made to the UK. The one card we posted in the hotel has arrived. Moral... DON'T use the PO!
When in Sorrento make sure you visit the Foreigners Club, more wonderful views and excellent coffee!

This was a great Hotel, all of the Staff were polite and could not do enough for you, they made you feel like part of the family. The food was excellent, and was all fresh. Both pools were fab, especially the one on the roof terrace.

The only downside about the hotel was the internal noise. As the floors are laid with Tiles, all you can hear is your neighbours moving their furniture about, which makes sleeping a bit hard.

Also, make sure you put some money away each night, as you have to settle your Hotal Bar tab at the end of your Holiday, which makes budgeting here crucial.

It is worth noting that this is not a hotel/ resort for Children. It is more suited to younger couples or parties without kids, and make sure you pack good walking shoes, as you will do alot of walking.

Sorrento is brilliant, not just as a base, but as a place to chill and relax.

A good place to go for a meal/ night out is the Foreigners Club. The view from their terrace is probably one of the best in Sorrento.
