Grande Hotel Reviews

I'd never heard of Sorrento but I really wanted to go to Italy and someone at work recommended it. And it was gorgeous!!! The hotel was brilliant. The room was large, and really well eqiuipped. The TV had all the channels you would need, service was excellent and the tasty Italian food brilliant.

First of all let me start by saying if you repeat a lie often enough, then people will believe this lie. Let me explain. Sorrento is NOT a beautiful City in my opinion. It is a nice City. The traffic is absolutely horrendous and how some cotributors to this board can just laugh it off and claim ";well you know what they are like over here";, beggars belief. It is downright dangerous to walk anywhere because the motorists ( raises eyes to the sky ) are totally ignorant about basics. Honestly, there are too many instances I could give, but one is that they MUST overtake the vehicle in front regardless where that may be. They overtake each other performing a left hand turn for god's sake. Thats the equivalent of a right hand turn for us Brits and every other vehicle has dents or scrapes.

How many beautiful Cities have you seen with dog mess littered all over the pavements. My wife and I were actually outside a restaurant looking at the menu, when a small dog, on a lead, with its female owner, did its business in the doorway of the aforementioned restaurant. The dog that is not the pets owner. She patiently waited until it had finished, then off she strolled into another part of the ";Beautiful City";.

Anyway that is my Victor Meldrew moan out of the way. I just wish people would tell it like it is. I was quite disapointed with Sorrento only because I was expecting more due to the previous reviews. It is also rather expensive to eat and drink. Believe it or not we actually had a nice holiday once we had adapted. We did the Pompei ruins, Mount Vesuvius and the Island of Capri all on our own steam. Take the train and do your own ferries, you will half the price. It was also very fulfilling doing the trips on your own. By the way, ";Beautiful Capri"; it is NOT. A painter and decorator would make a fortune. Hope I have not put you off, this is my honest review / input.
