Brilliant location, 1min form St Marks square. Cheepest route from airport, Alilaguna water boat, cost 10 euros each and took 1hour and 10mins. Took us straight to San Marco where we followed the Vallaresso and then Frezzeria. Hotel has 14 bedrooms but you need to be able to climb steps. To the main reception there are 60 steps! If you time it right the porter will carry your bags. However while having breakfast you do have the view of the bell tower in St Marks square.

Rooms were adequate with modern bathrooms and air conditioning. We would not recommend our bedroom No 2 because it was right next door to the reception and I'm a light sleeper! Would certainly recommend this hotel as the price was competitive. The best place we eat in was on the island of Murano.(Al Bisatei, campo s. bernardo) No frills just cheep and cheerful. The locals eat there which speaks for itself. Would not recommend the 'Trattoria ";Da Nico"; in San Marco. Over priced,ran out of some food because we were eating at 9pm, took hour to bring us our order and what they served us was unacceptable.

Hotel - Great location just round the corner from St Marks Square. Hotel front door looks like an abandoned building and then there are three flights of stairs to carry suitcases up (no lift!!!) but once at the hotel (the top two floors of the building) we found it clean, neat and the staff extremely friendly.

Venice - Venice was as expected. Full of tourists but not too bad. Waterbuses were extremely useful for getting around so check them out. Nightlife non-existant and resturants a bit low quality so we went to Venice Lido on the waterbus. St Marks - I have never seen so many pigeons!!!!
