As soon as we got to Scorpio Villas we were sure we were going to have a good time. The room was lovely we had a flowers left on the bed every day by our cleaner. The 3 pools are kept clear by the pool attendant. The reception staff, were really helpful. The restraunt and Bar staff are great and fun to be with meal times were really good the meals are mainly Itailian menu's but the food was good and beer... it was good of course. The resident monkeys kept us amused on the odd occasion. The people were really friendly and helpful. We went on various walks site seeing by ourselves the locals were friendly always greeted us with a Jambo (Hello).
Our Rep was out of this world His name is Elvis and he works above and beyond his duties. ( and I hope Cosms Are listening). We visited the Old man and the sea restraunt a very good meal a bit small but pleasant. We also visited a bar called Star and Garters where we saw a good band. There are plenty of things to see like the Falconry, Gedi ruins, butterfly farm and Snorkaling we didn't get to see half of what we wanted. The Safari at The Masi Mara was out of this world well worth the visit.
Be careful that you don't get to harrassed by the beach and street traders just give them a stern NO! they will keep trying to sell you something but be firm and don't take the 1st price off anyone bartering is part of the big selling game and get a price off the Taxi's before you go anywhere and they will wait for you no matter how long you are and at that fix price. Daniel with the yellow taxi is a good guy he is outside Scorpio. There is a cheaper form of taxi and that is a tut tut 50 schillings if you go further afield they might charge you more give them the right money cos you will never get change. You will meet a few characters along the way and the poverty is a bit upsetting but these people just get on with life as they know it. We had a good group of Brits at Scorpio when we were there. Hello to you All.
If you go to Scorpio Villas you make sure you say hello to Elvis from Sharon and Carol

From the brochure we expected a high level of accomodation and feel sure that Scorpio Villas USED to be like this. Sadly it has been left unloved and is clearly being robbed of any investment. The staff had not been paid for 2 months and those that were left tried their best but the food was appalling, the service almost non-existent (there just weren't enough of them). The rooms are spacious but in need to some basic repair, the toilet seat was cracked and dirty, the ceiling fan virtually hanging off, the air con unit leaked so much on the outside it made the steps nearby an absolute hazard and the bathroom cabinet had certainly seen better days.
The pool areas are nice but the poolside furniture is a disgrace. The matress covers are worn and torn, the towels are threabare and many of the matresses are infested with ants and other biting insects. We went a whole week out in the bush on Safari and didn't get bitten once - I walked away with over 12 bites in one afternoon of sitting on the poolside furniture at Scorpio Villas.
The beach is a short walk but is not particularly inviting - the beach sellers do not leave you alone (we ended up speaking to them in Spanish which seemed to confuse them and they tended to leave us alone then as most speak English and Italian with a bit of German), the tide goes a long way out and leaves a rocky area which is not too attractive. There were also problems with jellyfish and sea urchins when we were there.
Malindi is not safe - there were 3 tourist shootings when we were there and we were offered dr*gs in the town in broad daylight. If you go out after dark you MUST take a taxi - the one good thing is that they will come and pick you up after your evening out and only when they have delivered you back do you pay for the round trip but make sure you agree a price before you leave the hotel.
Very disappointing and certainly not recommended.
