The Tropical Beach Hotel was lovely, when we went in May there were only 12 other guests as this is apparently Kenya's winter season.
The staff were the most helpful I have ever come across, especially Steve and Bobbi from the entertainment team and Ali the barman.
Went into Malindi town on one occasion but not much there except some souvineir shops selling the usual wooden animals!
Mostly stayed around the hotel which has a few bars,2 pools and private beach.
Beach boys and girls will swap you anything for their soveneirs but especially keen on white socks, books and flipflops!although they could be insistent were always polite and never felt intimidated, this may be helped by the hotel having it's own guard on the beach during the day.
Not much to do at night but this was probably due to the fact that the hotel was so quiet, the entertainment staff did try their best but not enough people to open the disco, although they said in the summer months it gets very busy, especially with Italian tourists.
It was very relaxing especially after the safari where we went to Tsavo East and West for 3 days.Safari was great and lodges nice but be prepared for very bumpy ride in minibus!
3 flights and several hours on minibus but worth it for the experience.
Took pens and books for the children as they can't get things like that.
